Well, you may dislike it and call it nonsense, but New World Computing did the exact same thing with Heroes I (conjuring up new incarnations of previously-featured characters from MM1-5 to fill up the hero pool). Very old tradition.

Yeah, but incarnation does not equal same character.
I can dig characters who look similar and have similar names but this is ridiculous.
Besides, most of them were unnamed NPCs and invented by NWC, IRRC.

The H1 characters were all reincarnations too. Or what, do you think otherwise, that Maximus and Kastore got retroactively split in half before landing on Enroth?
Actually I think the very first time they ever reincarnated/cloned a character was back in 1991, when Sir Galand/Galant and Crag (the) Hack were transplanted from Varn to Terra.
Contrary to you, I see it as a great move for Ubisoft to do this since I spent like three years whining at them to improve their storytelling and show the NWC universe some respect and regard beyond trash like "alas, my master, Sandro, was blown up by wizards...".

I think they showed the NWC universe more than enough respect by changing the franchise name to Might & Magic: Heroes
so I don't have to associate the NWC and Ubisoft games with one another.
H? HoMM? Forget those, M&M:H is where it's at!
At least H5 tried to stand on its own legs (miserable Crag Hack & Sandro references notwithstanding)

Noobs That's the H3 Nymus they were talking about, pit fiend specialst and advanced offense. At least it kinda explains why the H5 guy had the same name..

If you read "Nymus" description on the site, it means "no-name" in other words, Nymus characters are just generic demon placeholder which have different incarnation.

I really don't think NWC had the word 'anonymus' in mind when they came up with the name,
but we've got a character named Crag Hack, so what do I know...

Maybe thay did not, but Ubisoft is the one that makes the game and makes decisions.
I think thay did it rather nice
And Also
Names like Crag Hack and Sandro were so common in MaM due to the fact that they were JVC's RPG nicknames.

Hi all, I am new on this forum, I am a big fan of the Heroes of Might and Magic saga, played all the titles apart some chronicles.
I just wanna know... noone else has doubts about this new chapter? I mean, ok that a new game needs new stuffs but... only crystals left as special resource? And you cant take a mine if you dont own the cstle/fort? In my opinion that reduces the strategic part of the game too much, and the fun aswell, send heroes through the map to conquer mines to make your enemy economy collapse, knowing that, for example, he is playing with demon race so dont let him bring the sulfur mine etc..... it was way better in my opinion. And omg no more mage guilds?! Itwas the tipic way of heroes to get magics, an important point.
Well anyways it's just an impression, I'll wait to play the game to say if it's better, average or worse that the others. I played the demo and I am not satisfacted of it.
But for real there will be not an "inside the castle" stuff? Just a little video?????????? Half of my fun in this serie was to look my lovely city grow up, I spent hours on Heroes III watching it, and how the castles looked like in the V was just fantastic, the human castle poanoramic was wonderful, and the sylvan castle, in the middle of the pound aswell, and the flying academy castle!! Sorry but if there is not an inside castle, I cant believe they made the game asking fans, cause a real fan can accept even hard gameplay changes but not that thing.
Well anyways it's just an opinion, don't wanna offend anyone ^^

Hey Gothmog_Ultra, welcome!
The only real gripe fellow fans have is the lack of town screens but you can check other "town windows petition" branch for detail on that.....
Having to capture fort/castle to obtain mines is just something we need to get used to, remember if the fort/castle is neutral, you can still get the wood & ore mine to produce for you....
Yes, magic guilds no longer, spells are now a choice and it's up to you what to choose depending on faction, class and reputation now.
Demo is just a sneak peak, not much of a challenge but I found it fun, can't wait to get into the meat of the story and action!

You're joking right ? Town screens are the LEAST of this games' issues. Even the best looking town screens won't make H6 remotely fun to play for more than 1 week.

I was talking about outcries from the fans, yes H6 have other problems re. balancing, etc.
What's also quite broken is that you can maximise blood points in one battle using vampires against some shooter with the out of time ability and blood abilities....
What would be cool after a battle is if it not only shows experience gained but blood/tears points gained too as a flash on the screen for you to see (instead of going to your hero screen to see)

I think you really need to wake up
1. Shared growth (retarded design)
2. Town conversion (needs some fixing)
3. Copy-pasted skill trees (dull)
4. Copy-pasted building trees (dull)
5. Lack of adventure maps buildings (lack of variety, loss of all those "random" buildings)
6. Poor resource system (lack of diversity in building costs, crystal doesn't really feel rare)
7. Lack of randomness (CORE element of any HoMM game)
8. Bland battles (knowing who will get morale before acting, small battlefields, units having such big movement on the battlefield, most shooters having 100% range)
9. Healing spells (mostly the resurrection part of healings)
10. Town Portal (lack of tactical choices on the adventure map since you can just pop back to a city instantly)
11. Poor Siege battles
12. No Mage guild
These are SOME of the complaints about game mechanics I read through all boards (and I share many of them) and it's more than some worthless town screens or balance issues. These are CORE issues which can't be changed anymore and which already cause many people not to order the game or to cancel their pre-order (which I did).
Town screen are a non-issue, no matter how much people will QQ. Not only they can be fixed in a patch, but they have no impact whatsoever on the game (merely some eye-candy stuff), while most of the issues listed above have a DIRECT impact on the gameplay and make MMH6 feel like a very cheap strategy game aimed at retarded console-players who can't (or don't want to) use their brain.

You're far from the only one who has these objections. I agree with everything you write, and combined with the retarded skill system it has removed my interest in the game.

Quote: I think you really need to wake up
1. Shared growth (retarded design)- actually I like this feature. Remove or change flawed Town Portal system and it is great - making you choose to either gather all units at any castle and leave them undefended or take just what you need immediately, without the need of heroes chain to gather troops from different locations
2. Town conversion (needs some fixing)- agree
3. Copy-pasted skill trees (dull)-agree
4. Copy-pasted building trees (dull)- agree
5. Lack of adventure maps buildings (lack of variety, loss of all those "random" buildings)- definitely agree; with all this fancy trees, water etc., map seems so hollow without any stuff you can actually interact with
6. Poor resource system (lack of diversity in building costs, crystal doesn't really feel rare)- agree; at first I thought reducing resources number will be good, but seeing at it turned out - it's not
7. Lack of randomness (CORE element of any HoMM game)- AGREE
8. Bland battles (knowing who will get morale before acting, small battlefields, units having such big movement on the battlefield, most shooters having 100% range)- agree again; morale is utterly retarded, size of the field can stay as it is, but some units (most) could use some movement nerfs
9. Healing spells (mostly the resurrection part of healings)- agree; healing should heal, resurrecting should resurrect - period
10. Town Portal (lack of tactical choices on the adventure map since you can just pop back to a city instantly)- agree
11. Poor Siege battles- agree
12. No Mage guild- does not really bothers me, as long as skill/spell "trees" will be changed and actually look/work like trees; biggest issue of H6 for me personally

Exactly. There's nothing wrong with the new ressource system, you just don't understand its benefits yet, yadda yadda.
