I do believe in the 'Create a main Hero' thing.

Starting points are allocated to choose where the hero has abilities.

In between 6 to 12 points spreaded through the 4 main attributes of this starting hero.

Example: Typical Knight will have Attack 2, Defense 2, Spellpower 1 and, Intelligence 1 if only 6 points are allocated. Otherwise, Attack 4, Defense 4, Spellpower 2 and, Intelligence 2 if 12 points are allocated.

A Random Hero with 12 points to start with could be spreaded evenly as follows: Attack 3, Defense 3, Spellpower 3 and, Intelligence 3. Or, concentrated as being a true military bound General as follows: Attack 6, Defense 6, Spellpower 0 and, Intelligence 0. Or, concentrated as being a true spell-caster of a Magic oriented Wizard as follows: Attack 0, Defense 0, Spellpower 6 and, Intelligence 6.

The only thing the player needs to know is: A wizard will need a Mage Guild built on the very first turn for that hero to be relevant in the first battle of the map. A troops bound military general will only need soldiers to lead into battle and will rather win easily without too many casualties. In my case of any map, an evenly made like hero able in both might and magic will be a sure winner, no matter the faction played. The second hero and third hero can be of any kind of specialization. All I have to do is use their experience toward improving their secondary skills(ie: Basic Attack and Basic Defense and up for a wizard or Cleric type of hero).

Hope that clears a lot of fears and uncertainties.

Moderator's note: Please any newcomer note that LucJPantenaude has a history of repeatedly offering misleading and faulty advice. It is my impression that this is pure speculation on his behalf, and I would note take any of this information at face value before confirmed from elsewhere.

Anyone know how the Inferno/Demon hero will look like?
Have already seen the half human-half demon campaign character, but was hoping the heroes in the custom/multiplayer game would resemble the demon lord from Heroes 5.

Really liked the fact that it was actually a big hulking demon instead of a human in flame/satanic armor, arent the inferno hierachy build on who is the strongest(aka. biggest demon in town)? No offense to Agrael(not sure about sovereign), but he never really seemed like a powerful demon lord to me.

Otherwise the only thing I am disappointed in is the removal of destruction-, light-, dark- and summoning-magic. Imo all they needed was to add some more spells(likely some from Heroes 3) and then make it easy to access for any class.

Still a must buy despite these changes. In fact, rest of the changes seems really good. Always hated having way too many heroes, preferred to have one single almighty hero. Although that never really was an option

Agreed, the Heroes V inferno hero, looked like a mighty demon, that was great, not some wannabe-sauron on a horse.
But I'd like the female demons to look like succubi or other female demons, mind you I think they are implementing that, gender specific models, it seems very likely, considering that they said we can choose the gender of heroes.

I also liked how Heroes V heroes didn't all just ride horses (Fortress' old lizardfolk guys on horses... horses... in a dark, jungle/swampy place... really?) but had mounts native to their home terrain. (Though underground caverns seem like an odd place to find Tyrannosaurs (or Deinonychus (really big raptors) for that matter.)
Elephants were a cool touch but Elves on unicorns was a bit... well...
Unicorns traditionally only let female virgins ride them... oh right of course... elves... elves don't count as men.
Dwarves on Mammoths and Orcs on massive Oxes were just completely bad-ass.
... went a bit off track there...

It is said in the Inferno pdf that the Inferno Might heroes (Hell Knights) are not demons, but Humans, Elves or Dwarves who received the Blessing of Urgash and were improved by Chaos Magic.

Just thought of something...Could be cool if the hero native to the jungle terrain rode on a hippo/phelddagrif(hippo with wings)

Totally, but it might just be a tad to silly.

I personally would think a giant snake would be awesome, like sitting on the sadle right behind the head.
Maybe a giant panther.
Or a massive beetle, covered in ornamental armor.
Or move Dungeon's Tyrannosaurs to a faction that would suit them.
Or they ride flippin BASILISKS! (+7000 awesome) Probably wearing a mask or blinders to protect the troops.
It's a Jungle, jungles are filled with awesome, almost anything that lives in a jungle (besides mosquitos) is awesome!

Sorry, little enthusiastic... feeling like a little boy again at the prospect.

Then what about the demon lords, who appears which the lore refers to? Are they also just human knights imprisoned along with the demons?

Hope they either change it or give us the option of different designs. Could of course also be an advanced class in which the hell knight embodies the powers of Urgash and thereby becomes the demon lords from heroes 5, this is of course just a thought.

Totally get you!

Could also be a triceratops or is that a tad to much lizardmen from the warhammer universe Still, would seriously like to see the hippo idea come to life.

Rmember this all coming modders of Heroes 6, the people have spoken. And they speak of a heroes riding hippos...with wings.

Okay, think I just went way overboard there, might be because of lack of sleep ...getting way too late here.

Don't forget to mention, the hippo MUST be purple to be a true Pheldagriff, any non-purple hippo just isn't going to cut it.

About the Demon Knight thing, this saddens me.
AWAY WITH YOU HUMANS! You are like dry crackers without spread, horribly bland, give me my giant, axe wielding, platemail clad and hoof stomping demons of destruction back!
Meh I can live with it, but I'm sad to see them go.
They had the coolest attack animation, flippin' run-by axe swipe!
They could have done with a slicker, less pudgy look though, and more dark/sinister looking armor.

Can you provide alink to this inferno pdf? Dying to get more info.

Another thing i started to think about is the fifth race/faction. Many seems to think that it is the naga, but despite their previous appearence in heroes 3 I think that it would be way too warcraft 3'ish to add them.

Acording to lore some of the most obvious would clearly be the faceless, perhaps a united elf faction(before dark elves) or the dragon knights. Just hope it has some story/lore relevance and thta it is NOT naga.

A quote from the infern pdf.

"Hell Knights are not great masters of chaos magic themselves, but the ritual they endure confers them various chaotic abilities."

This could suggest, that the magic hero may be a more traditional demon, since hell knights aren't capable of using destructive magic at a high level. This only leaves behind whether it would be th succubus demon or the warlord demon(armored one), who will portray the magic hero.

Hope it's gonna be the warlord demon, which would fit best with Heroes 5. As long as Heroes 6 dosen't feature succubus.

And thx to EvilP for the link to the pdf.

I like the idea of the heroes riding a large snake or armored beetle.

This might be a bit off-topic but I didn't know where else to post it.  While working on a Homm5 map I came across a wide range of unused files and images (still in the homm5 data files).  I already knew about the WWII tank, spaceship, and a few others, but I recently found a detailed image titled "NagaTemple".  Here is what it looks like:

<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a26/Mike80D/NagaTemple.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

I never really played the campaigns, so maybe it was used there.  Nonethless I find it interesting that the Nagas have a place (and their own Temple!) in Homm5, so hopefully they are in H6 with a larger role

Still hoping they aren't gonna do naga, way too much warcraft 3. They even said they were inspired by warcraft 3. Not a bad thing getting inspired by others work, but I was hoping that the Heroes franchise would avoid the usual stereotype races.

So, you call Nagas a stereotype ??? What about Humans then ? And Dwarves ? And Elves ?

It's not like the Naga concept has been over-used and from what we know, the Nagas from Ashan are a lot different from the Nagas from Warcraft.

Humans, dwarves and elvens are all stereotypes, but unlike these the fifth faction hasn't been officially anounced so in my eyes there are still some hope.

As for the naga they appeared in heroes 3 as both neutral- and creatures of conflux and if you take a look at those they do remind you of warcraft 3(despite they actually came before w3). But the naga became a more popular race in w3, which some people will eminently connect them with. Along with the previous mention of clear inspiration from w3 and the native jungle terrain it starts to scream rip-off.

Despite what the last faction/race is, then i will buy Heroes 6. To me the naga just don't seem as exciting. And it appears that they have loads of other options if you look at the lore, so I just don't get why we can't have a new never before seen race like the faceless(Haven't seen them myself).

Also pretty bummed due to the return of a human-demon lord, which in my eyes is a step backwards from heroes 5, which could be part of this negative vibe im sending Would actually rather have a return of the beast-men(Fortress) from heroes 3, which would fit very well with the jungle/swamp/rain forest terrain.

Forgot to mention that I despise humans and sometimes elves in almost every pc-game. As you said, they are severely overused and usually don't play either of those.

Yet again another reason why I can't stand the new demon lord look. For god sake, they are supposed to be demons! Demons is not = Humans!

Not so, H5 had human demon lords. Plus it would be a stretch to assume H6 will have no demons in the position.

The problem with dwarves and elves is that they're basically funny-looking humans. Lizardmen would probably grow old pretty quickly too if we had 3-4 types of them inhabiting only marginally different environments.

You are thinking too much. I meant the class.

So there is a possibility of a playable demon lord, like the ones from the Heroes 5 multiplayer?

Or is this a tabu subject?

I'd say 50/50. Elvin and those privy (Cepheus/Geny) to insider information are pretty much tied down on what they can and cannot reveal to us (though that won't stop the buggery from us, will it? ), and whatever information that becomes "accidentally" known will probably fan more speculations/inferences/random ideas that may or may not benefit the health of the community at large.

[See, when people get a certain idea of what's going on that they like, they will probably get attached to it very strongly and changes that cause their expectations not to happen will disappoint them greatly.]

To err on the safer side, so to say, it's better for the information to be revealed publicly by official sources. What Elvin and the rest can do is help send our feedback to the developers and relay what they are ready to reveal to us. I personally think it's better to wait patiently for official updates.

In line and onboard with this, I would once again like to remind people, like myself, that have made assumptions about the 4th and 5th faction that whilst we have many compelling theories (and I am a big supporter of the Naga theory AND the Sylvan theory) they still are merely theories.

It would be an interesting thought exercise to come up with alternatives.
Such as... why Stronghold will be the 4th faction. (Barbarians could be native to the jungle.)
Or how the 5th faction is all about a race of sentient gerbils and their worship of a dragon god in the shape of the giant hamster wheel. (ok I'm stretching it here... and by stretch I mean disembowel.)
