Here's what I've written. Most may be old-hat but how would I know? I want to make the effort and give my centandahalf. Anyone can toss theirs in as well.


Map Editor Ideas:

Overall

Map Property Tabs

1. Timed events
a.   Scenario Event (info, gifts, deductions)
b.   Castle Event (buildings, destruction, troops added, goal met - i.e. ‘grail‘, or say  ‘make Angels‘ and how about ‘survive‘)
c.   Hero event (level=up/down, skill/knowledge, ability/trait, +/- luck/moral, troops added, survive till? Level reached, something learned, place/region visited)
d.   A.I Player event (become ally, become enemy, retire) (Hmmm…neutral A.I. players?)
2. Hero level
3. Rumors a. in taverns b. in castles c. start of week(this could be fun w/ running dialogue)
4. Teams
5. Available Heroes
6. A.I. Difficulty (Noob, Normal, Hard, Merlin)
7. Banned races or monsters (in random placement mode)
8. Pictures (Pwl while loading. thumbnails (3 or 4) at map select), all taken from ‘screenshots'...in correct format
9. Fog of War (Y or N)
10. Map Events (just like Heroes ME III) but more. Hex selected and many things can occur,
a. this is great for plain old ‘text’ dialogue but how about a custom sound-file plays(lots of possibility there with speech, effects or music/themes).
b. All of the “timed hero events here too, but now ‘location-triggered’ not ‘timed-triggered’.
c. you could also toss in all of the castle events for the same purpose, ‘making it somewhere with a hero. I. e. “A hero makes it to ‘the Bridge’ and a level 6 creature dwelling is made at main castle or all identified player/# castles etc. or allies castle…whatever.
d. A.I. player stance change. Becomes ally or enemy…or even retires.
11. Scenario Victory conditions (just like III) not some complex stuff but simple pick on main tab.
12. Scenario Loss conditions (just like III)

Other things:
*I liked there being something that could be visited that made that region dark again to enemies.
* Again HoMMIII had it right w/ border guards. Keep the colored ones but (all the other triggers to passage) like ‘player’, ‘color ‘ and ‘hero’ specifics. Also ‘level of Hero’ or ‘has artifact’ triggered. Again all from the Map’s-Main-Scenario-Tab.
*Having a slew of One and two-portals with different colors and styles is just way easier than trying to keep numbers straight. Far more on really large complex maps. Have the number sets as an optional type for use only if you run out of the pre-mades.
* In HoMMIII having Town-Portal mean ‘any town’ instead of the present ‘nearest town’ was overkill most of the time but it could still be available to a map-maker as an option he/she selects it for use. Why not have it included, if the map was made that made it necessary to win? (imo) Should be an option.
* I sure would like to see Allies be ‘true allies’ in that I can go into their castle and at least learn their spells. I would also like to give them resources. Both should be an option again. Should be in #4
*I would like as well to see the return of the Main heroes page where you can easily designate what hero can be hired by what faction. Should be in #5

I hope all of this has already been discussed and is in the works.

Note: (imho)The easier the Map Editor is to use, the more folks will get engaged with this game at a deeper level! It will never hurt sales of the game, it will boost them. I’ve bought every single game at initial release and even the follow-up ‘Complete-Sets’  to boot, whatever they are named. Many fans like my brother, are the very same with ‘Total War’ in their realm of Modding.

Well, while were waiting for news, I started thinking on the possibilities that the new Heroes 6 brings.
Fist of all they are trying to make the first attempt in creating a UBISOFT/Black Hole unique view on the series , Heroes 5 was ok but they tried not to strand to far away from the best game of the series Heroes 3 … had his + and – overall a good game,but the new installment looks promising.

Races so far, nothing out of the ordinary except some new way of classifying them and  modification on the lore (Lich – Vampire thing …).

I as many people would like to see a Naga faction, although the jungle terrine would also fit for a Insect and /or Beast man  race(the Mighty Behemoth could return), which could be controlled by the Faceless, but again the dev. have a whole lot of freedom in creating the new faction.

What I feel is certain is that it will be based on the Asian mythos, could have Nagas, insects, etc, and would worship the Dragon of Water Shalassa (in this case the Faceless would be boss like creature throughout the campaign)
I don`t know if this is a proper place to throw my ideas but well I would love for this kind of creature in the lineup of a Naga Asian town.

The first picture is called Apprentice, is based on the Panda bear and Shaolin monks found in China.




It`s upgraded version would be Elder Monk. Again based on the Panda Bear and Shaolin monk, and in this picture you can see it`s activated ability, in which  the creatures summons fourth one of the Aspects of the Dragon of Water Shalassa, and would hit all enemy creatures on a 2 square radius from the creature.




First of all I know they might be out of place in the M&M Heroes universe but I have my hopes and dreams regarding this new installment.  

For this sketches I used as a basis some artwork found on deviantart, for the Apprentice I used a drawing made by Sohai9131; for Shalassa I used a drawing made by Kagura88gina, but the lotus and the Elder monk are my own. (Wouldn`t want to be accused of stealing somebody else’s hard work).
Hope I haven`t gone of topic …I would love to see other people’s speculation on the new race and some creatures they would love to see in this new game.

Also, (still on the topic of the sphynx ) on the other side of the picture with the haven is a glowing thing, which pretty much doesn't make sense as any haven unit. It is possible it is a neutral (like a fire elemental or something), and neutrals will be more active/ town aligned (like in H4). Meaning the sphynx could be a special unit, which would be great.

Just to clear up any confusion in my little head, the troops in MMH6 are structured in 3 groups, Core, elite and champion??

So far so good, my question is when you recruit a troop from one group let`s say a Sentinels, than would the number of unit from the same group decreases?? … if not it means that the recruiting is only restricted by money (like in the previous series), and that the difference between the same group troops are based on the features of the troop … archer, flyer, or it`s unique ability death cloud, etc.

Yes. If you recruit all the sentinels you can, you won't have any archers left.

Well now the mine like transformation of the dwelling makes more sense and also makes the game more intriguing, but also somewhat unfair in choosing the troops as archers and flayer are, in my opinion, a first choice and of course the need to protect your dwellings more dire than in any other Heroes Games, but then again they might balance it so that you would consider the male type unit also.

This is my exact fear with both the units and the skill tree.  Invariably people will chose the ranged units (and surround them with minimal sufficient melee), and probably chose much of the same skill tree talents every single time.

I'm pretty sure they'll have found a way to work around this. Probably, ranged units will be very vulnerable to melee attack, or something else. They emphasized that they want to make it so that optimum effect comes from combining the units, and I'm pretty sure they're smart enough to make it so that it's not just one ranged stack takes out all others.

Cepheus already answered the lack of ethnicity of the Stag and Raven Duchies.
The Stag and Raven line are a sidebranch of the Falcon and the Griffin respectively. So the Stag and the, by Heroes V extinct but in VI still ruling, Falcon are of Irish ethnic inspiration. The Raven and Griffin Duchies are Slavic/Russian.

Yes as Miles_Teg said I meant melee, And thinking it further it`s gone by pretty hard to work around unless the difference in stats between melee units and archer/ flyer is disproportional, to make them more appealing, but as alcibiades  said they 'll have  found a way to work around this in guess will se

I suppose this is a bit off topic again but on the factions i think leaving out academy, in my mind, doesn't make sense if you have necro; it would be without opposition...  (haven vs. inferno etc.)

PLUS: you would miss out on a 'good' magic oriented faction.

Of course five factions doesn't help the opposition theory...

Meaning that the fifth is most probably a neutral-based faction with no obvious opposition.

Then again, academy could be replaced with dungeon/dark elves or sylvan BUT dark eleves doesn't make sense because then -with my theory- you have three 'evil' factions: Inferno necro and dark elves and then one 'good' haven and then one neutral  

so that leaves academy and sylvan... as for compatability with terrain... I think that its possible for necro (although inferno would make more sense if there was no lava; creatures in the trailer) to be underground and academy being wasteland which seems similar to desert from h5

(im not sure whether terrain/faction has been confirmed if so my theory is void.  .)

Sooooooo imo academy will be 4th faction.

As for fifth faction i'm rather unwilling to speculate further than being a neutral faction with no obvious opposition. As Omega destroyer said i really cant understand what the obseesion is with a naga faction.

Heroes 5 could have been easily the best in the francise if it did not have some problems including the unconvincing story. To be honest I have my doubts regarding the story in Heroes 6 as well. It is true that not much has been revealed until now but the piece of information that has been provided, the idea of 5 children of the former ruller of Heaven, leading other factions, does not struck me as inspired. Maybe they can give some sense to it in the end but wasn't it possible to do something else than cheesy fratricid war?

All in all what I try to say is the fact that I suspect lack of vision from Ubisoft regarding the series. They created a new world in which they have already set 8 races. Now in Heroes 6 we'll have 5(vanilla) + 2 (possibly 2 expansions each adding a race) thus making a total of 7. Among these 1 was not present in Heroes 5, so 2 races were created and not used. Apart from the fact that it does not appeal to common sense to leave some existing factions aside, it is also an exemple of losing resources on things you will not use in your next development.

We can always hope that there will be 2 new factions in at least one of the expansions - or maybe that there will be three expansions, which will bring us up to 8 or 9 factions.

I can't really understand, why can't you understand it nagas are just awesome!


I think it makes more sense to imagine a faction with the naga in it.

serpent faction? medusa, naga, wyvern, hydra?


when it comes to choosing archers only, let's see H4 :

ballista vs pikeman : not easy choice. ballista are strong but slow. pikemen take no retaliation.

crusader vs monk : crusader most of the time

titan vs dragon golem : another hard one, they can both hit without being hit themselves.

venom spawn vs vampire : vampire imba

cyclop vs ogre : most likely cyclops, but mages at least have a hell of a lot of HPs.

medusa vs minotaur : medusa, except against undeads

white tiger vs elf : don't know, always chose the tigers cause elfs were much more expensive

Regarding the Factions issue I think beside the already know 3 factions will have Academy and a new one. My theory being that you could have a expansion whit 2 races the Sylvan and the Dungeon  … and makes a lot of sense , you could build upon the split of the elves (540 YSD) War of the Bitter Ashes – Birth of the Dark Elves, and the creation of Dungeon faction,  and could be easily  connected to MMH6 , after all you meet the Faceless and after the events in MMH6 a few survive and make a pact with  Tuidhana and the rest follows as (566 YSD) Day of the Tears of Fire – Death of Tuidhana. This being my logical chain of thoughts.
