ok...

so it has been confirmed...

but i can adapt..

I don't know about anyone else but i can certainly envision an autumn academy

doesn't fit with heroes v desert  but then again this is 400 years before right?

Well, if you think like that, you can imagine an underground Castle town, with some human refugees... or a Sylvan tree growing atop a volcano (elves like hot springs, don't they? )... or a drowned Inferno town, with some underwater demons...

I know, that Academy is a flying city, but still... desert is and was the homeland of wizards in Ashan (as it were the snowy mountain ranges for Tower in Erathia). So, this leaves the Academy for an expansion (or, it will be skipped in the whole MaMH6, which would be quite odd).

The point is, there is no need for an anti-necro balance. As stated in the description of the factions, the Necropolis in H6 does not aim to annihilate all living things walking upon the surface of Ashan. It rather wants to become a major power, creating balance between the world of living and the dead. From this point of view, Necropolis in H6 is a neutral faction (lore-wise)... although I understand, that all the non-hardcore players will perceive it as pure evil (why have the living always so many prejudices? )

I disagree. First their motto."Life is Change, Chaos, Filth and Suffering. Death is peace, order, everlasting beauty."

is it just me, or does that seem a little unbalanced?

Second, their description. Yes it says more or less that they think they are misunderstood. However, and i quote: "They are currently fighting for emancipation and acceptance from their brethren the Wizards of the Seven Cities."

If there are no Wizards then who are they fighting? Where are their brethren? What would their campaign be based on?
it seems to me that wizards and necro are like elves and dark elves. as in necro branching off from the wizards; "their brethren". If say dungeon had been in place of necro, then I would assume that sylvan would be in place of academy.

In the actual description it even mentions them fighting the Wizards so surely that means that they will be the fourth faction. If not then I think it will be a big loss for heroes, even if it does come out in the expansion(s).

(You can probably see I have an unnatural attachment to Tower/academy )

It's not because Dwarves were added in HoF and Orcs in TotE that it means they didn't exist before Same goes for Academy in H6. If UbiHole considers Academy doesn't play a role in the main campaign, they won't add them. From what we've seen, the story is not necro-centric, it's about a family and the 2nd Eclipse.

I have now made an opinion - I have read a little about it and it seems like they are taking away all the good things from HoMM5 ... :/ which saddens me..

Here I don't really understand where choosing archers comes into it. Could you clarify your point

some people think people would always buy archers in H6 because the ability to attack from far is too great.
Yeah, but it's balanced out by weak melee, which means that archers tend to fall like 10-pins if the enemy has a couple of flyers on hand, even for flyers of a lower level (although these do tend to get torn up by the melee defenders).

Something that has me suddenly concerned:

I've heard it mentioned that players build their heroes from the ground up, deciding on gender and class first.  Does this mean that all heroes are custom-made now?

Does that then mean that we won't be able to play as existing heroes?  I can't imagine that would be the case; there's plenty of evidence to the contrary in the gameplay trailer we all saw.  But how does this "from the ground up" concept work?  Or is that simply another option?

There have been some guesses on this. We don't know - but if you custom make your hero completely, there would have to be some "random hero" function in the game for availibility in the taverns.

My greatest concern would be if the hero specilization is gone. Heroes without a unique trade is

What will happen now?

I believe (and this is 100% opinion, not insider info) that hero specialisations and normal tavern heroes will be back.

My guess would be that they start out the same as previously, but that we'd have a lot more control over which direction they'd take, so say we could choose which primary and secondary skills get upgraded, rather than them just arbitrarily awarding them (okay, we can choose which secondary skill to take now, but only out of a choice of 2). This is just a guess though, and probably off by a mile.

Although I for one am the adept of heroes having a specialization in the starting of the character creation, I believe that the dev. will go towards something similar found in Heroes 4, where  by choosing to focus on a set of skill would give you a specialization, Arch mage, General, Field Marshall, etc., but a bit more divers, for what little information has been offered I think that  a hero would have 2 class to choose from fighter or mage , than depending on race his skills would be aggression oriented , defensive , balanced (ex. Demons would have skills that increase dealing more dmg., while Haven would be defensive), than you have different branches  … here can`t really say ….  But to finish my idea by choosing and developing on some skills and branches you would be given a specialization.
All this is just pure speculation …

It's already confirmed that each faction will have both might and magic classes and that there will be advanced classes that depend on hero development. That, however, does not mean that there can't be or won't be hero specializations.

Yes, each faction will have might and magic classes, and yet you have much more control over the customisation of you hero...can someone explain how this is going to work since it seems to me like one point would more-or-less invalidate the other, unless they went for completely different might and magic skill-trees, which would IMO just kill it.

Yes indeed the return of 2 type of heroes (Fighter & Mage) is confirmed, I just didn`t formulated the sentence quite right, but I hope people get what I was going for with my thinking.

Don't get me wrong, I love the art myself. Just that little gold bird on the helmet is a bit out of place. But I can live with that

It looks like it might be a holdover from the Falcon duchy to me.  Can't say I mind it - all of the Haven's upgraded units kind of look gilded and silly to me, though.

My bet is that they want to keep the option of having multiple heroes but want you to focus on one "primary" hero.

One way they might do this is by having you creature your primary hero from scratch, with a set of unique "created only" hero specializations OR copying one from an existing hero.
Any heroes you hire beyond your first are unique heroes that have their gender, class and specialization set in stone.

Another option is that you have a wider selection of heroes to choose from when hiring, including multiple classes.
So probably 3 or 4 heroes at a time, including 2 native to your faction, one of either class and 1 or 2 additional ones of random factions.

Maybe there is a "create a Hero" thing in the game that along with a large list of pre-made unique heroes allows us to create a set of our own custom heroes that will sometimes pop up for hire in the tavern.

The only thing we know for sure is they promised us full control over the level-up.
