But you gotta admit from the screenshots, it's not just a matter of one being taller than the other. We're speaking about one being double the size of the other, and I figure the Mauler is already a good size compared to the average human.

Human do come in various sizes too. I mean look at Sabonis or Muresan from NBA. Moreover since Orcs are fictional, there's no reason to be limited to one size only. Orcs are monstrous and ferocious, and compared to humans, they should look bigger and meaner. So if there's an Orc that's bigger and meaner than the rest of the Orcs, its size should be pretty much like the Slayer's/Jaguar Warrior's size.

No, because they were Uruk-Hai a mix breed of humans and orcs. No true orcs.:-P

It's is just wierd that after many pages of scale discussions wee stil get that, what most of agred as "not the best option"

This big guy is wery similar to the dwarven beserker from heroes V

Those were Sarumans inventions so logically he made them bigger...

Otherwise I agree with Alcibiades completely, they could have at least said that they were a result of blood magic or something.
However they looked a lot better in the artwork then what they do in-game...

Ah, good, I thought you were comparing to the most awesome Thane there for a while, and I was about to get into yet another Thane Appreciation series of posts!

Well, other than the fact that they're both berserkers they got nothing else similar. Their weapons are different, they just got about the same reach that's all. The Brawlers use those "ironclad gauntlets" as they're being described and their upgrades have some sort of punch daggers. The Jaguar/Panther Warriors use some unique sabertooth jaguar skull weapons with the elongated teeth as if they're claws. So besides the reach of the weapons, I don't see any other connections. Then the Brawlers might be big but the Jaguar Warriors are even bigger. And ofcourse, it should go without saying but in appearance they're nothing alike.

So the only connection is their short reach of their weapons. Maybe Ashan Berserkers (wether Orcs or Dwarves) feel they need to get very up, close and personal, huh?
But I say we just need to wait to know about the Jaguar Warriors before we judge.

But it doesn't fit. Orcs shy away from magic so logically anything magically imbued would be a social pariah. It fits a lot better to simply have the strongest available warriors be the biggest bad asses. Orcs live Darvinism to the max. Obviously the ones that survive the Panther trail ain't going to be your run of the mill orc. Be it whether they have extra much Demon Blood in their veins or simply because they were the biggest bully in Strongholds Summer Slaughter Camps point is it makes sense to have them be normal orcs.

I like the new Haven and Necropolis too!

I say the new line-up's of all factions are all nothing short of win and awesome. I would not call them perfect but still, just as good if not better than H5, in most of the cases at least.

But we're talking about appearances and creatures races only. Cause I can only have a final opinion when I get to play with them. But at lest when it comes to the line-up's, I'm very grateful to Ubisoft for taking over the series. So if I could work as their undercover agent for that reason alone, oh hell yess, that would be awesome!

I have a problem, I change my mind too easily when someone tells me something. Just because you brought up Darwinism and actually reasonable explanation, I have to admit that the Jagaur warriors are a lot cooler. :/
Can't you at least understand my position here, I hate that the removed the Wyvern/Roc and replaced it with this "thing". All I wanted to do was to rage a little. But now, what can I do when you change my mind like this...

Aahh, again! Wyverns has not been replaced by the Jaguar Warriors! Slayers were what the Jaguar Warriors are now. Wyverns been replaced by Harpies. They might be core but they're flyers and anyway every other unit had its counterpart back in H5.

If you wanna dislike someone for the Wyverns not making the cut, blame the Harpies. But there also might be the case that the H3 Fortress' popularity got to the devs and they're saving their Wyverns for its return, y' know?

Yeah, I know, not likely but still... I bet all of us would wanna have Wyverns in a swamp town rather than Stronghold.

I could never blame the harpies, they are way too awesome for that.
Besides I had the most perfect line-up for the Stronghold,
Core: goblin, harpy, orc
Elite: shaman, wyvern/roc, centaur
Champion: Cyclop
And since the Jagauar warrior is the one destorying this nuclear family Line-Up, I'll ofc blame him...
Now I just hope he is as interesting as Elvin wants us to believe.

Because the lead game designer jerked off on Wolverine as a kid.

There is no other rational explanation for 26 clawed units in the game.

Sadly I have to agree with this one. 9999 different versions of dragons in one sequel was bad, now we got another fetish instead - oversized claws. Seems childish to me. And kinda cheap, because I'm sure there are actually other ways to make a unit look intimidating.

Jaguar Warrior maybe wouldn't look as boring as it currently does if almost every other Stronghold unit wouldn't look almost the same. Sure, these creatures can have their distinctive, cool special abilities, but this is a completely different issue.

I've been happy to see that overall the unit models look more detailed than ever (and I adore the adventure map art!), but I have this feeling that we won't see more than five factions in Heroes VI (ever), because their fantasy seems to be ran out and they must feel absolutely bored with the whole tedious unit designing thing

I have no idea how could at least one more non-humanoid creature hurt "the feel" of the Stronghold lineup. Really. Of course the replacement shouldn't look as out of place as Haven's black sheep, the Radiant Glory

The artwork of the Panther Warrior is awesome! (the Jaguar Warrior - not much).

And did you notice the Lamasu in the screenshot of the day? It doesn't look very much like the artwork but maybe it can't be seen good in this picture.

So the colour of it is a bit off. It's still green and white, just a different green. The bodyshape is still similar.

Also I begin to wonder why I even read this. It's mostly people saying either: "I like X!" or "I hate X!" or "Why don't they give us more Y?". It's basically opinion-spamming that is allowed.
In general, most of us could not give a flying monkey about what the rest of us think. And actually giving an honest and different opinion than the most have, gives about a 60% chance of starting a flamewar.(Made up the 60%, but you get my point.) And the resulting flamewars are about as contributive as a stick in a bucket of piggspoop.
I understand there is not a lot to talk about. We only get small bits of info at the time, so that and the resulting speculation is all we have. And by all means contiue doing so.
But I am questioning myself more than anything why I keep reading all the chinwagging.

@Jabanoss
Blame Jaguar Warriors for being there if you want but you can't accuse them of replacing Wyverns.

@NightTerror
Feathered Serpent (Still hate calling it Couatl ), would have been a great addition. The only problem is, that it deserves nothing less than the Champion spotlight and that drives it into direct conflict with the meanest, biggest, roughest, toughest unit of the game.

Besides, I got a good reason to believe that the Feathered Serpent might make an appearance as a boss related to Stronghold. Here's why:

1. Bosses will be related to factions, might be more than one per faction.
2. Dragons were promised to us to return as bosses. Draconic creatures can become bosses too, such as the Dragon Eel.
3. The Feathered Serpent is a Draconic creature.
4. The previous game's dragons (save for the Bone Dragon), don't have the factions to be related to, anymore (Sylvan, Dungeon, Fortress).
Considering all of the above, we might see a Feathered Serpent as a Boss.

@mancubus
Besides the ghoul, the tormentor and the jaguar warrior (sort of), I see no other unit fighting with claws or anything similar to it. 3 out of 35 units plus 4 known bosses and 1 neutral, don't make for too many creatures with claws. And the only with oversized claws is the Tormentor. Ghoul is using artificial ones, did you expect them to be normal like? Or the Jaguar Warrior's sabertooth skull's teeth to be any smaller?

Yes, the careful study of animal behavior and implementation of their fighting technique sounds orcish indeed....

How about this: they never run out of them because saber-toothed jaguars are actually vengeful spirits from a forgotten age, lingered on the fringes of Ashan for millennia that Dreamwalkers - after many unsuccessful attempts - managed to summon and control efficiently. They summon them to keep the ecosystem of the Pao Islands balanced, each time one of their Orc brethren is ready to become a Jaguar Warrior and kills the poor thing, dedicated Dreamwalkers immediately summon another one to roam the great autumn plains. Happy now?

    quite happy

But seriously the description lets to be desire it feels somewhat incomplete ...

EDIT:

Quote:

Took me longer to write that than to come up with ... they actually pay somebody to come up with that stuff.
P.S. Some  Native Americans tribes used to wear wolf skin, and behave like ones to get close the pray, when they hunted buffaloes and this is the type of mimic that I was thinking, so it wouldn't be that surprising for orcs to take the time and learn from the animals especially when trying to adapt to a new environment.
But enough of that or I'll really start to sound like Steve Irwin or David Attenborough
