About the ability points shortage in skills/spells tree. Probably there will be some adventure map biuldings which give you an additional ability point, others give to learn the skill and/or spell for some resources. So if my sense is right then it depends on the map creater.

I have mixed feelings about the level 20 respec. There's a bit of me that really enjoys the idea of gleefully building a hero with a whole bunch of points available, like hitting a 20k experience box in H3 early on and leveling up like 12 times. I can't help feeling like it's a bit cheap though. The RPG element of the game is building a hero up from scratch, watching them grow and develop and mature, seeing their skills improve. It's a metaphor for personal development. Respecing kind of kills that illusion and brings it all back down to a series of cold mathematical advantages.

Settle down. Try typing a sentence we can understand in English and compose yourself before overexcitedly flinging hyperbole like a zoo monkey. That was the news plan and *gasp* sometimes plans can change due to circumstances that were not forseen before the plan was made. That was accidentally leaked and not an official list, so guess what, you're not owed a damn thing off that list and should consider yourself privileged to get a glimpse into what they were planning to release.

well it looks like there are quite a lot "circumstances"
to give us 'false' dates of news or release dates..
very "convenient" position btw. first you say something
and then you jump away, stating "oh wait, it wasn't official, and you know what, we didn't even say it!!, it was "unexpected leak", so just shut up and wait, enjoy Michael figurine, cuz we "don't even have to" give you any news!!!!"
PERFECT!!! EVERYONE HAPPY!!!

I would say that since they had to change the plan, the leak was decidedly inconvenient.

The Eyes and al the chaotic construction just blowes my mind. I love it and inferno is winning more and more plus points. This mai realy by the first HoMaM game were I will like those fire bas***** :-)
But the description of the Snow maiden is somehow short.

Yeah! I've just seen SOTW and its my wallpaper now. It's excellent. I didn't know we can have the camera see that horizantal and close during combat. And to see the graphics of the surface don't start to get distorted when that zoomed is a very nice thing to see. Seems like a RPG

The Yuki Onna and the Snow Maiden is without a doubt the unit with the biggest contrast between the artwork and the actual in-game look.
In the artwork they look completely hideous!
However their in-game look is absolutly stunningly beautiful.
So I guess I should be happy that they look the best where it truly matters...
Edit: I mean just look at her! (and enter her page...)
Stunning!

If I hadn't seen kappa on the sanctuary video, I would think it's model wasn't good. Good thing the models ingame look much better.
But it is nice they decided to upload the creatures (this is an oficial upload or an accident?)
Anyways, at least Snow Maiden model is very well done.
Hope next week, or the week after, we get some neutral concepts.

I agree. Levelling up skills should be a "fixed" exercise. It shows the difference between good players and bad players, being able to strategize and think early on how you want to develop your hero (and in Heroes V it was difficult to do just that, but if you were good, you sorted what you wanted out!)

Anybody else curious about the Sanctuary hero art?
Seeing as we already have the art for the other 24 hero classes, I want to see those last 6.
Well 25 counting the female sanctuary might hero (without upgrades) so 5 left.

The Snow Maiden looks amazing, way more than in her artwork.
The three Ks (Kappa, Kenshi and Kirin) are cool as expected; my only complain is still the Spring Spirit, it feels boring and redundant to me.

I'm strongly against the "respec" ability.
This is an element for MMOs or action games (like Diablo) where you build a character and where you replay a character hundreds and hundreds of hours. This kind of games require finetuning.
A Heroes games is merely a few hours (30 minutes to 5-6 hours) and doesn't require so much finetuning for an expendable character. Also since Ubisoft is giving us full control over our character developement, there's no real point in giving players a reset feature other than dumbing down the game for newbies. If at least we didn't have full control (randomness) on our hero's developement, I could accept a "respec" option, but not when you have 100% control on everything.
It's as if in previous Heroes you were buying a secondary hero and were dumping on him skills like Estates, Recruitement, Resourcefulness and, Snatch (etc...) and once he reaches level 20, you'd be able to transform this bookworm into Conan the Barbarian.
Imo, if I gave a hero resource-based skills to start with, it was because it was MY strategy, be it a good or a bad one. It makes no sense to be able to revert your strategy completely and without penalty. If you press the "respec" button, you should lose at least 1/4 of your ability points and it should cost quite some money.
I really hate this trend Ubisoft has chosen where making choices has become pointless because of this "xmas tree" approach where every choice (good or bad) must reward the player with a pat in the back.
It kinda reminds me of this comparison between a 1993 FPS and a 2010 one :
You could say that the 1993 game is like Heroes 4 and the 2010 one is like MMH6.

Sanctuary hero looks cool, but I find it's similar to Necro male might hero....would have thought of a Sanc hero looking like Mer-man from Masters of the Universe!
@Nelgirith fantastic picture of FPS 1993 (Doom / quake) compared to 2010 (Call of duty black ops)! You know what the fault here is: Consoles!
So heroes should not ahve any faults as it's for the PC only! PC's rock!

Quote: I just feel that once again, the only focus is being put on that one single thing, namely the final battle. Come on, this is not a game that's only aimed for 1 vs. 1 duels, is it? It's not like the total aim for the game is that one single encounter - in fact, the game style I favor, those single epic encounters take second place.
Forget all skills at level 20 to re-focus? How does that even make sense? And why is that good for tactics - so that it is no longer a tactical choice between what you will need in early game and what you will need in late game? Now you just go for all the early game stuff first and then forget it all and switch to late game? Meh.
They might have put a lot of work into the decisions they've made, and they might be consistent, but for me they seem to be all the WRONG decisions for the game I want to play. First ressources, then town screens, and now skill system.
Only because I made it sound like that since it is a big concern of mine. Think about it, that way you can get so many more options in the game, try so many things throughout the game. Mind you I was amongst of the first to ask that a respec should come with a certain cost/limitation else it would be a cheap feature but either way it's just that, an option. You don't like it, you forget it's even there.
Let's just face it, the way H5 worked, your creeping was what shaped the direction of your skills while your actual opponent less so. Is that fairer? Ideally skills should be useful both early AND lategame but that was not the case. Now you no longer need to carry garbage skills and focus on what you really want whether that is combat or adventure. Realm skills are incredibly useful for instance.
Yep, you can choose not to take advantage of the respec in singleplayer, but what about multiplayer? I love to play Heroes mp, and this feature will ruin the fun for me. Can't believe they are implementing such a braindead idea. Please make it an option to remove this feature when you set up a mp-game, so the newbies can play with it if they like, but so that people liking long term decissions in strategy games to matter, can turn it of.
This is the single most gamebreaking of the new features that makes me fear I will not play this game too much, and go back to H3 and 4, like I did after one day with H5. How they can ruin an otherwise interesting looking new skill system in this manner is a great mystery to me. Have the developers lost their minds at some point in the process? Or do they think their customers are stupid?
I was hoping this new game would make mechanisms to get away from the needing just one super hero thing, and win game in the last epical battle, when you find the super hero of your opponent. Instead they are implementing lots of features making smaller armies and other kinds of heroes totally obsolete; respec, teleport system, conversation of castles, no more raiding of mines and dwellings (zone of controll system) and God knows what more. Seems like the tactic will be really straigth forward. Convert all towns to your race, build up a superarmy with all your units in one, take all short term advantages when you choose skills for your hero, then respec for what you need in that last final battle. Im also afraid this final battle will come too early too now. At the first strike against your opponent, he teleports his super hero to meet you, and then; game over.
