@Nelgirith - okay I hear you on the Faction abilities being automatic on level ups...sorry for repeating myself here incorrectly twice..

We were never told that the cities had shared pools, only external dwellings had shared pools....

Wrong again We've been told it when the game was announced in August 2011. Elvin corrected that only a few weeks ago.

Actually each faction gets 5 specific magic schools.

I didn't know this. Are the schools predetermined based on your faction or can you choose them yourself? (I'm really hoping for the last!)
In the Slava skill tree the far right and left symbols are the same. Are these "unchosen" magic schools?

It'll be interesting to see if there are any faction specific abilities apart from the advanced classes.

It's great that you don't have to use skill points to unlock spells and abilities, but that it's determined based on hero level. Also counting the racial and advanced classes we can choose twice as many abilities this time around. I'm excited about the different and original hero builds we can come across.

Regarding the creature pools Elvin wrote it in the faq a few days ago.

Edit:
Do we have any idea how powerful the level 3 spells are compared to level 5 spells in H5? It just occurred to me that a lvl 20 hero can suddenly get all the lvl 3 spells in his/her five magic schools with the respec option. That could be a dangerous hero to meet with if you are only lvl 19 and have stacked up on logistic, economy and some creeping spells

According to Lepastur's article, Light and Darkness schools are based on your hero class - a knight will start with Light magic while a Hell Knight with Darkness magic.

They will only unlock but you still have to buy non-racial skills/spells

This is what the article said:
Quote:
The Magic field, represented by a bottle icon, was the one I took a deeper look, so it  was composed of 4 elementary schools and one Primordial (Prime), honoring of the mythology of Ashan. The latter will presumably be common to all factions and had spells such as Haste and Slow, among other ones related to the Magic in general, as the Mana points and Magic Power and Resistance to it. The other remaining schools consisted of 3 out of 4 classic elementary schools: Earth, Air and Fire. These are complemented by a last school, which in the case of Slava was Light, so this makes me think that this school will probably depend on the affinity of his own faction to Light or Darkness (Good / Evil), since on the Mother Namtaru scenario, Kiril had Darkness school, which offered Mass Vampirism at advanced levels (you read well, coward Necromancers! The game will be broken to your faction once again). Also, I assume that this dependence on the faction affinity applies in the same way to the combination of the 3 elementary schools mentioned above, since the truth is that I find it hard to believe the Naga faction without water Magic.

From this it seems the schools are based on the faction, but it's only speculation from his part. I hope we can build dark knights, but perhaps that won't be possible.

Umm you do, just not those tied to your class.

Light is just one of the 5 haven schools just like darkness is one of the inferno ones.

I know, I meant unlocking for instance level three spells (and then spending skill points when you choose individual spells). In other words, that tiers are available from your hero level.

Actually each faction gets 5 specific magic schools. The majority of skills/spells/abilities are accessible to all, what I am not sure is whether each faction has unique ones in their skill paths or if they are only available via advanced classes.

If I'm understanding this correctly, I have to say I'm not a fan. How does this make the factions unique if all of them have access to the same skills/abilities? Warcries should be a Stronghold specific ability, not something Haven can access and like DoubleDeck said Heroism is something that would be good for Haven, but useless to Necro.

From what is know it seams that it is so, one bulding for 3 creatures but some things might have bean changed if you have the time theres this thread you could read up http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=33655

also here are some pictures

http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=33562&pagenumber=6

But worry not they made them useless as you won't be buying units from buildings like you could before, instead you'll have a town window whit a crappy interface to buy them in one menu ( ... already complained in the town window thread ... most abstain myself)

Read below more to the point then my blabbering

I'm pretty sure the towns are going to have separate dwellings for each creature, and separate growth rates for individual creatures. External dwellings will increase growth for entire creature tiers, rather than individual creatures.

I don't think it's a bad thing if all the skills are available to all the heroes, but that doesn't mean that some skills can't be more beneficent to only some of the factions. For instance morale as mentioned, or skills like "march of the golems" from H5.

It would make it more interesting to add creatures from other factions in your army, and with the town conversion option going on this is a dilemma we will face in the game.

Actually, I think Elvin said that each class had different trees. Some specific skills can be repeated in several trees (like the moral, luck and usual stuff) but there are many class specific skills that only a knight will have, etc...

Okay, if that's the case, then that's cool then.

I definitely think all factions should have access to the more common skills (morale, luck, etc.), but should have their own specific skills/abilities to make them unique.

And now it has been revealed (if I understand correctly) that whilst there are "universal skill trees" every class has only some of those.
(In addition to unique skills and abilities based on their class and factions as we already know.)

Example, the Knight had access to Primordial (all classes get this one most likely) Air, Earth, Fire and Light.
Notice he is missing Darkness and Water.

I imagine similary there are more Might skill trees then there are "skill-tree-slots" if you will per class.
It is likely that every class or nearly every class will have a unique set of skill trees by ommision.

Example, lets focus on magic skill trees for now:
Inferno Might is likely missing Light and Water, mirroring the Knight somewhat.
Necro Might is likely missing Air and Light.
Stronghold Might is likely missing both Light and Dark. (Considering elemental figures such as earth and sky are key to their beliefs, not Ashan's Dragon mythology.)
Sanctuary Might is likely missing Fire and Darkness.

This means that whilst across many classes, similar spell combinations are available, every class does have room to combine it's skills differently from other classes.
