I really schocked and surprised about the news. But the units are so cool, really fresh and a really warm colourful ones. Mainly the Harpy I welcome her return. May be we can get the Thunderbirds as well???
Behemots?
But this factions on the Might Heroes side should be obvious for the developers.

So this aztec like factions can be really cool. I think now only for the Faceless or Naga for the fifth faction.

The Harpies itroductrions says they came from the tropic island of Pao so may be they have got the Jungle tile set?

I was kinda of hoping for elves, but the barbarians are always welcome in my book.

Jungle may be the native terrain

Seems like the orcs are inspired by the Aztec and other mesoamerican cultures by the way they are drawn.  It would be cool if the orcs adopted the H3 Fortress architecture, giving a new twist to the Heroes series.

The Cyclops will return, along with "a few other legendary creatures"

Maybe the return of the Behemoth from H3 and keep the wyverns from H5.

One legendary creature, previously featured as a "male unit" in H5, will now be female.

Female cyclops or ogre?

Core Unit: Reaver / Destroyer, a hulking, club-wielding Orc

The artwork looks good, the look relatively the same as the orcs from H5.  I've always liked the name Reaver for a unit, but would change Destroyer to something else, like Slayer.  I would make the inferno brute the Destroyer / Ravager because it fits better I think.

Core Unit: Harpy / Fury, the classic Harpies with a twist.

I like the artwork alot and the names are good as is.

Core Unit: Goblin / Hunting-Goblin (?), boomerang-wielding Goblins.

The new ranged unit imo, because of the boomerang.  Artwork looks good, though they can come up with some better names.

I would like thank Ubisoft and Blackhole for making my Homm dream true... A Stronghold town visualy based on Aztec (or Mayan - not sure) mythology, you made me so very happy!

(I now only require dwarwen city in viking theme or desert academy with indian myths and hindu gods [plus nagas] as the next town - I'm cool with either...)

EDIT: SO happy! ...i need to change my pants...

I suppose it's something about the fate.

err... deserts are more suited to arabian cultures (and before you put you're foot in you're mouth, you probably know that there is a big difference between indian myths and arabian folklore...)

besides, for once, just once, I will like a game to not have dwarves be viking themed.... LET THEM BE RUSSIAN!!!!

Maybe it's just  a rip off from Sarumans white hand

or that the orcs where(which they where) created by the wizard and therefore it's symbolic somehow.

Regardless of how lore-suited it is, Barbarian in the jungle just feels wrong. I'm really not a fan.

Same can be said about Nagas. They fit to an aquatic terrain not to jungle.

What I'm referring to is the fact that, ever since HoMM II, the Barbarian town has been associated with desert/rough/harsh terrain. Putting them in a lush jungle compromises what the faction's "feel" has always been about.

I'll repeat that if this is legit, it's almost guaranteed to compromise the identity of one core HoMM faction and knock another one out of the game entirely (including expansions) which is rather depressing. Jungle barbarians and (probably) no Dungeon? A sad day.

I sure did not see the revelation coming that early but man it has been pure joy to read your comments Obviously the orcs are not fake and you should probably love the rest of the lineup. If not in units then in style, I just love stronghold's redesign Btw I'm curious what makes you think their terrain is jungle.

The Orc and the Harpy give off a very Aztec-y, jungle vibe, and the Harpy's backstory mentions islands. They just seem more fitting for a jungle tileset, but I suppose they could be a Native-Americans plains one as well.

I'd be very pleased with these guys if they are, in fact, a plains faction.
They'd fit great on plains, just don't want to see 'em in a jungle; Barbarian in the jungle just isn't right.

You're right, I was realy exited about the news so I admit that desert would be perfect for Arabic themed wizards (I had cooled off so, realy, was there anything broken with the visual concept of Academy in H5? -that's what I ment to say,) still, viking dwarwes were never properly done in any Homm - maybe except for dwarwen alts in H5, at least this is my humble opinion. However, if you could mix arabic theme with hindu gods (golden roofs and statues + Arabic/Islamic architecture), simply let them do more polished academy.

btw. harpies reminded me about movie Apocalypto -again, nicely done

These units look more like gipsy then atztec (only because the harpy has multicolored wings doesnt make them atztec) and I think autumn plain will fit them better.

I think Roc-Thunderbird will be the unit that was not in H5, some kind of a Shaman (Spirit Whisperer or Bone Seer as Female Ogre) and Troll (I think after H2 the trolls were understimated and I am waiting their return in H6) and a Cyclop.

Hmm I will be both happy and sad if they aren't a jungle faction now. Happy because then another more fitting faction can have the jungle(nagas, lizardmen). But it also makes me sad since Aztec-style seems to fit them so well, but I only want aztec-style if they are in the jungle/hot-climate/savanna. Then I'm also talking about Aztec-artitecture ofc.

Aztec architecture is a way too complex for these simple orcs... But maybe they will live in Huts and in big caves and trees (close to Nature is more fitting to their society)

Wooooooooooooohhooooooooooo!

Holy crap, I'm damn happy! My favorite faction is in now!
And those arts for the 3 core are awesome!
I absolutely WANT to play with them. Having seen how Haven, Inferno and Necro have been handled, I really cannot figure how wonderful that faction will be!
Seriously, that is the best news I could read!

I really think H6 tends to be the best of the series. Hurry up, 2011, I need to check that!

Regarding the Cyclops, it is not said they will be part of the faction.
Think of it: Angels and Devils, as well as dragons, are now bosses and only bosses. I logically expect Cyclops being bosses and not part of the line-up too!

And as for the terrain, anyone could fit, I am too happy to think of it.
Gosh, those Harpies/Furies look real good!

Cyclops were H5 T7 because fans wanted them over the Behemoths but in H3 they were T6, in H4 they were below Behemoths too, and on H2 and H1 Behemoths weren't there to outclass them.
