Nothing really happens. If your psychic hadn't pointed it out, then you wouldn't have noticed the eyes that drifted silently away from you, glaring warily, with only a hint of interest.

"There's enough material here for us to create something to press the grass down in front of us, which will give us some view and make sure we're not walking straight into a trap. The trees you take branches from quiver as you touch them, but don't do anything else. When you actually grab the branches and take your knives/ swords to them, though, the branches break cleanly off. In fact, you didn't have to do anything more than cut under the bark before the trees almost dropped their branches for you.
The forest seems to hold its breath and becomes completely silent, as if waiting to see your reaction.

You have no difficulty with the forest or anything in it as you clear away the brush and find your dead wood. In fact (though you can't be sure of it,) the large alien from before seems to be looking out for you... out at the grass. As you look, the forest slowly returns to normal, bird things, lizards, amphibians and insects all making their strange little noises.
Arlea finds the first log large enough for your purposes.

The log was surprisingly heavy, very dense, which surprised Arlea. She had nervously studied it before picking it up, and glanced around looking into the long grass. She sensed something in there, which made her very uneasy.
As she backed off, she noticed the large apelike alien watch her, almost like a sentry. "How strange that is", she thought.
She hurried back to the rest of the group.

You tie up the device you need to flatten the grass ((That was your plan, right?)), and are able to move through the flattened foliage. The first thing you notice is that there is no sound. At all. No creature sounds, no breeze stirs the tall "grass" (Which is a slightly off color of green and yellow), and nothing moves.
The log bumps over something in the grass and a strange lump is left under the flattened foliage.

Arlea's nose crinkled at the acrid rotten smell. Everything so far on this planet smelled weird or just plain wrong. She could tell from the individual creatures smells that cannabalism was rife here. Everything ate everything else and nothing had any fear, especially not of them.

As you go farther, the lumps become more common. Sometimes, you find a limb or back spike sticking out of the grass, but every creature ha been long dead for sure. Well, except the last one, as it is very alive but wounded. You can see that the creature crawling towards you looks like one of the things on the ship... but it seems far more docile than others you have encountered.

Arlea looked at the carcass of the dead creature. Its mannerisms before its death had disturbed her. She thought (before the Guardian had shot it), that it appeared to be approaching them, as though they could help it.

You keep going and you don't need psychic powers to know that you are being stalked on all sides. Some stares are baleful, while others are curious or, and this is an insignificant minority, they look to you hopefully. In front of you, there is a clearing in the tall grass large enough to land the ship.
