Seriously though, Kip I'm sorry if I am annoying you. I'd like to change that, and I'm thankful when you let me know I annoy you. I'd really like it, if you'd tell it in a more gentle way, but I understand because of my past behavior, you don't feel inclined to do so, and that's fair.
Btw., Ad. I think based on few personal experiences you're right that "logic" goes out the window when anger comes in to play, but I hardly ever thought there were any real anger when writing in text over the internet. Just to throw an example, when I was younger I'd often easily get angry if my point was refuted. But when I realized what the other part said was correct and I was incorrect, the anger of me being wrong, made me slash out verbally. Which I later felt really ashamed of doing. I think it's partly due to the social constructs we create subconsciously, e.g. if you're the smart kid in the class, you don't want to take it when anyone appears smarter than you, no matter if they're right or not. Similarly the strong kid in the class will probably show his strength if someone else starts displaying strength. Of course with limits, sometimes we'll just back out, change the social construct in our head and put ourselves at spot 2 in stead of spot 1.
On the case of writing on the internet. I can't help but wonder if it's not a mistake to equal it to real life small talk. That's at least what I used to do, and probably still do. After all, in a small talk, calling someone an "idiot" is a remark easily passed by as time passes and the remark gently becomes less and less important. While writing, on the other hand, everything you write is there forever. Meaning that while I personally may have changed, if we go back and look at some 2011 posts, I'll still look like a disgusting mofo/pervert, whereas had it been a normal conversation, such comments would most likely have long time been forgotten, because newer talks would stand out stronger, I believe.
Therefore, I think when writing on the internet, it's probably more equivalent to write an e-mail, where people always try to be polite, and not equivalent to small talk. But I think the confusion arises due to the anonymity of the web, which allows for one to try to make friends so much faster, which in turn may turn people away from you so much faster. In other words, I don't think because we don't know who we are, that we act different, only that we're allowed to try to speed up the process and in turn we're more likely to alienate people.
