That reminds me the fun times of that yugioh pc game We already have cards that trigger when the opponent does something but it's not quite the same. On the other hand it makes you consider what the opponent may have which makes for some interesting deployment decisions.

Have to agree though, you are pretty limited when you start the game. Perhaps the new set will give more options to beginners.

I don't want to be rude or anything, but I would really like to see a trading system that would not end in account abuses. And I think the devs would love to see that as well.

Trading can only work in a system that is backed up by some value. In a virtual FTP card game the cards have no value behind it, since the only thing you invested in them is time. (I know this can lead to a diffrent  discussion but pleas don't start it)

Also. I really think people should not compare a game with a 20y. evolution to a new game. I've played several card games, and most of them have started the same way as a simple low number comparing game. (Just look  at the first 4 base edtions of MtG).

Finally, am I the only one who thinks new players in DoC have it really easy right now. Dayly rewards, Altar of Wishes, Champions deck in the shop. I had to wait to level 100+ to get a full set of DAs, now you can have them in like 10 levels, or so.

Different topic.
I really should start playing JP. So what deck should I give a try?
Also I would like to try a naga recall deck (based on recalling yout creatures) any ideas for this?

about new players
Ofc new players have it easy, extremely easy when you consider CCG standards. Srly, champions deck -> Crag Hack and you can win swisses at ~ lvl 10. At lvl 15 you can complete Kelthor and get very high in JP with the currently leading deck. I think it's good. Grinding and losing b/c your opponent has better cards is very frustrating.

about JP
well T1 is established so i suppose one of the following heroes:
Sandal creatures, SandalLock, Cassandra, Kelthor, Ishuma, Hakeem Mill/Control, Dhamiria, Ignatius.

you can also try one of these decks:
Gazal, Zardoc, Adar-Malik, Crag Hack, Alia/Adar rage, Takana, TrollGates, Morgan, Akane.

About Naga recall
Cucu99 (lvl 419 player) spent a lot of time developing Shalan bounce but it never really worked. In JP you gonna be a TELO-giver probably.

The Naga deck is not for JP put for lader. I just want to trie it. CuCu makes a good twist in his decks.. I think I'll look it up.

I did not know Ignitus was a comparable deck in JP.. he always looked so easy to counter... I Think I'll look some of his constructions up aswell.

Other heroes I would like to make use of are Akane MoLM a Keiran (oh where are his lost golden times)

Never tried Ignatous but i know it's extremely hard to play. There is a thread on the forum called Drabnatius if you want to check it out.

On the 4 x DA's point, fully agree. I had 2 DA's at level 100 and bought numerous boxes, then alter wishes and boom! everyone can play Crag hack!

For JP: I find best results are Spellthor 5/4/1, Ishuma 5/1/1 or Cassandra 4/1/5

flush all to 4 normal/4 premium

later buy packs where you miss the 4th card or buy premium to get achievements (120 prem from VR or entire deck from prems from the Basic Set)

i'd leave some to be able to buy a card from the Pit, just enough to buy a rare

It depends, I would say opponent dies.

Altar doesn't really enter the game, so it wold probably be too late for 2 health as this only triggers after the card is played - so -2 health has already done it's thing?

Thank you Dave & Double for taking part in today's incredibly impossible quiz....

on playing altar of destruction, opponent indeed lost 2 life points and lost the match, HOWEVER in the "victory" screen it indicated he still had 1 life point remaining, and in the darkened out screen behind you actually could see his life drop to -1, and then climb back up to 1.

BASE SET TWO CARD LIST PREVIEW EVENT INCOMING!

February 3, 2014  by maly_drab  Expansions   No comments
“During the month of February we will be releasing information about the upcoming Base Set Two. This new collection of cards will take 300 cards that define Duel of Champions to date and combine them into one new set of cards. Older cards will still be available to play, but more information will be released on this in the future.

Here is what to expect this month:

• Friday, February 7th we will be announcing the 300 cards available in Base Set Two on our Team Stream. JasonParadise and SpaceElephant will be discussing the new set and playing with decks that only feature Base Set Two cards. You can tune in to this broadcast at 3pm Eastern / 9pm Paris on http://www.twitch.tv/duelofchampions

• Saturday, February 8th we invite you to give us feedback on the new base set. We will create a brand new forum discussion topic on both the General Forums and on Reddit. We want YOUR help in thoughts about the Base Set. What are we missing? What seems out of place? We encourage you to create Base Set Two decks and stream discussion about them all day Saturday.

• Your feedback will help us shape the future of DoC. Sharing feedback during this event and you could be chosen to participate in the first ever preview tournament for Base Set Two! We will have plenty of Seals on the line as prizes to jumpstart your Base Set Two decks. The BS2 Preview event will be held on Saturday, February 22nd.

• Every team stream starting February 7th will focus on the upcoming new Base Set. Make sure to tune in for more info about the upcoming changes to the game!

We look forward to your feedback and can’t wait to help evolve DoC in the coming months. Thanks for playing Duel of Champions and we’ll see you this coming Friday on the team stream!”

JasonParadise

Hmmmm is this 300 new cards, or 300 existing cards allocated to base set 2?

EDIT:

From Aza on Ubiforums:
Just to clear up some of the more pressing concerns ahead of the stream:
1. Base set 2 is a collection of cards from the previous set.
2. You will be able to chose what set you want to play with.

Enjoy the stream on Friday
Aza

So then my guess:

Base set 1 = Bast set 1
Base set 2 = Void, Herald, Forgotten, Towers

When you create a deck, you can only choose cards from either base set.

This would get rid of the boring top meta (Cass, Sand, Kelthor, Ishuma, Hakeem) who need cards from both base sets to be effective....

So, we will have two formats now:

1) Open format, in which you will have all of the cards.

2) Standard format, in which you will have only the cards from second base set.

The tournaments will stay the same but they will be changing formats from day to day if I understood correctly, so if today we have Open Jackpot, tomorrow we will have Standard Jackpot, and they will maybe have both tournament types at the same time with different formats. So today we have Open Jackpot and at the same time Standard Swiss which sounds great.

Creature now have types. Banshee for example is "Dark Ghost" type, which means that it deals Dark damage, so Shi-no-Shi will be immune to its attack. Hellfire Imp is "Fire Imp" type, which means it will heal Greater Fire Elemental with its attack etc. This is great, it adds more complexity to the game and will allow new stuff in the future for example card that says "all Fire creatures gets +1 damage" or "all Ghost creatures get immune to retaliation" etc. I really like this.

I wonder if the dev's are open to suggestions, with some early testing and review of choice of cards, i believe that dharm should get the axe as well - the meta is certainly going to change and every game has to evolve - i believe personally that the depth of doc was it's 3 requirements, might, mag, fort - with this new game change, fort has taken an absolute beating, magic has been neutered leaving might as an initial go to - perhaps setting up the new meta as a creature heavy meta - that being said, new combo's are already being formed, and on doubt these will appear instantly on release of update.

REASONS TO AXE DHARM
ps im not too far off in suggesting that zardoc also face the firing squad [but thats another list]:-

Along with her ability, her card selection still remains insane - remember dharm was always competitive before everyone copied JKKK's build

Doom Bringer <----- only board clear that i can see, insane advantage
Lurker in the Dark
Juggernaut
Maniac
Succubus
Hellfire Imp
Caller of the Void  <---- *&&**%
Hellfire Bloater
Chaos Lacerator
Hellfire Maniac  <----- $^#^@$@#^
Void Arbiter <----- $%^&&%^#&$
Lashing Lilim

Shi-No-Shi
Void Wraith
Moon Phoenix

Insect Swarm <--- i would go as far to say the strongest aoe spell in BS2
Stone Shield
Symbiotic Barkskin

Immolation
Fire Bolt
Inner Fire
Mass Rage

Gold Pile
Arcane Academy
Stolen Supplies
Revised Tactics
Altar of Wishes
Time Of Need

events have remained unscathed

i truly believe that dharm with these cards and with restrictions placed on all other factions - will dominate!!

We will still see. I am also for cutting her out and replacing her with Xorm, I had enough of Dhamiria in BS1.

What I am really looking forward is Necro recursion, and that will be with my dear Seria which I have alternative art of, and Dhamiria's only problem was Necro to begin with. And btw, I still think that Dhamiria will be quite beatable without Might of the Nature and Forbidden Flame, she really isn't as good without them and with only Insect Swarm as her early game cleaner. We will see though, we might see some other kinds of Dhamiria that are heavier towards the aggro.

I am pretty positive that any kind of Necro will dominate in BS2 now that meta is changed into more aggro since a lot of powerful spells are gone(lighting strike being the one, FREAKING YES!).
Rushy heroes are mostly gone. No Sandalphone, Kelthor and Ishuma(yey for all three!), Cassandra isn't playable anymore the way it was in BS1 because there is no Prison, Wolf Captains, Altar of Asha etc. THe only heroes that are kind of capable of rushing are Acamas and Garant, but on the other hand there is no more Altar of Destruction(!!!) so the Inferno rush is a lot weaker, and two very important cards for those decks are missing and those are Tainted Orc and Lilim.

So, Necro with all needed tanky cards(Hangman Tree, Untamed Wraiths especially now when there is no Lighting Strike, Vampire Knight and Undead Minotaur) together with Decay Spitters, Banshees, Deathseals and Soulreavers is going to be king of the aggro in my opinion.

But we will see, maybe something is going to change in the future especially that they are already working on the next expansion and we don't know which cards are going to be included in BS2.

A lot of people are really sceptical but I am really looking forward to this.
