As we all know, keeping high quality standards is rarely a priority of independent mod teams, but this addon surely passes any test in that area.
Well done!
My congratulations to them too.
I am totally new in the Heroes of Might and Magic series. I discovered the franchise this month.
What can I say. I played almost everything and Heroes of Might of Magic has been the discovery of my life. It holds a special place in my heart, as amazing as it sounds. It was LOVE, true LOVE at first sight.
Thanks; to the person who discovered it to me, from the bottom of my cleric heart, many thanks.
I am following this thread closely, as I learnt to use Heroes 3 HD mod and later this one, too. There is no hurry though.

Hello. I've been playing all (almost) Heroes games and love them. I'd like to return back to HOMM III, and i found out that there are many different mods that act like expansions.
Found that In the Wake of Gods and Horn of the Abyss are the most popular, i guess.
Which one is better in your opinion (custom game-wise, i have no interest in campaigns)? And if there is another mod better then these, please let me know. I mean better in terms of balance, artifact/skill/spell/creature variety and overall better control of the game.
Thanks!

Thanks!

Celestial Heavens has plenty of maps, but someone will probably have to give them a kick so they know they should be adding categories for HotA and the new map sizes.

Yeah, I know CH, but they don't have HotA maps. I was asking for other sites that have HotA maps.

It can be fun to have a topic about mapmaking for HoTA. There are only 2 maps ready at the moment. I am working on a giant map myself, but it is in a very early stage.

In heroes 4 there was this artifact which made it possible to board and leave ships without having to finish the said hero's turn. Has anything of the sort been thought of or is it considered too overpowered? Or are there any technical barriers to this or maybe it just isn't liked in general?

Its cool you've made graphical changes to some of the enemies. I would personally love some changes to the conflux faction as I was never really a fan of the layout or design of the town or creatures. Especially those magic elementals...

It might be a good idea to port some of the HD mod features (these not connected with changing resolution) to unmodified HotA. There are people who simply don't like playing HotA with the HD Mod (the discussion on this matter on HotA VK in Russian), but they would still make use of SOME (only some) of its features.
I'm not saying the HD Mod is bad or anything (I actually use it). But I have this feeling that if a feature is already in the HD Mod, you think it's fine not to port it to HotA. It might be a good approach if you would state that HotA+HD Mod is the only recommended option (then you should think about the HD Mod integration with your installer).
____________
My suggestions are JUST suggestions. 1) I didn't mean to make fun of anybody. 2) I can always be WRONG--if that's the case I'm sorry.

If they don't like higher resolutions they can launch HD-mode with 800*600 res.

But then game still loks different.
The cursors are smaller and it change some details, that someone who has played more than 10 years on the regular version of HoMM can irritate.

I agree, I never could make it for HD mod. The mouse hover is slower too, so all movements need recalibrate.
