Awesome mod! Love it. There's just one weird bug (I assume it is), which happened to me, and I cannot find an explanation to it.

I chose my own custom made map (made with the original Homm III map editor for SoD), and loaded it up in HoTa, as it allowed to do so. I started playing with Cove.

Everything seemed normal and fully working like normally: Everything I hand-placed on the map with original Homm III editor was there, and all add-ons and fixes introduced with HoTa were included.

However, something weird I encountered when I conquered a halfway upgraded town later in the game: it had "Guardian Of Earth" enabled!

I don't understand how this could be. I had NOT set it "built" (Grail) with the original Homm III map editor for the town. I then proceeded and confirmed this also by opening the map with HoTa version of map editor, it (Grail) was set "enabled", but not "built". Triple checked this. Nor had I found the Grail in the game, nor taken it into the town. The town was also neutral when I conquered it, no CPU player was yet eliminated, and it had hand-placed monsters on the way at the only route leading to it (dead-end), so no-one couldn't had gotten through, anyways (fly, dimension door disabled).

Any ideas? Is there perhaps such a bug with Homm III vanilla map editor created map (SoD version map), that you need to load it with Hota map editor and save it with that, so that everything works if the SoD version made map is loaded with HoTa? Anyone else encountered the same problem?

****SOLVED****

All right, stupid me. I realized what now what it was!

While conquering the castle, I was followed directly by an allied CPU player who was, in fact, holding the Grail (I had earlier save, luckily, so I could confirm this) and followed me in to the newly conquered town of mine.

So it was, actually, the an allied CPU player which brought the Grail to my new town right after I had conquered it. I don't even remember how this works in vanilla Homm III, but it seems than in HoTa an allied player can "gift" the Grail to a allied town owned by another player. I guess this is how it's supposed to work, at least in HoTa.

Glad this one's solved, because for a moment there I was madly confused.

By the way there's been one issue in Homm III to which I've been wishing for an update for a long time. During the CPU's turn after you end yours, the mini-map is hidden. In big maps with a lot of heroes moving one after another, it's rather hard to keep track where each of them moves about on the map. If there was a way to show the mini-map during CPU turns, and perhaps a little pointer showing on the mini-map indicating the spot where the current hero on it's turn is located at; that would be purely awesome. Would save a lot of unnecessary game loading. This one's an issue especially the more tired you are, the bigger the map is, the more players there is, and as the last but not least; hot-seat mode with your friends, when the focus isn't 110% there all the time during CPU turns. Probably not on HoTa's "to-do-list", but one can always wish that some day in the future it was fixed by an unofficial mod/expansion.

One more thing. Is is possible to remove Ballista in order to buy Cannon? I wasn't able to get rid of the Ballista on hero screen. I suppose you could give it to another hero, but it would be more fluent way just to be able to destroy it off of the hero inventory.

I think not. HotA is 'almost done' complex add-on, like AB or SoD. So, only bugfixes and maps/campaigns are needed to gain immortality.

Hi there all the heroes fanatics. Recently I remembered about HotA and wanted to do the campaigns, I remembered that I played them a year ago, but for some reason stoped. After a while of playing I remembered why I stopped. First campaign, second mission, where you need to capture all the creature den's in 3 month. It's not an easy mission, but still possible if you play smart, at least I thought so, while aproaching the last den. When I got it, nothing happened, I have flaged all the creature dens, but nothing happens until I just pass days till 3rd month is over and it shows that I have lost.... after getting the last den I have a saved scenario and I still have 11 days, but I just don't know what to do. Has anyone cleared that mission?

I have cleared that mission. It's been a while, but I remember clearing it with only 2 or 3 days left.
Are you absolutely sure you have claimed every single creature generator? Have you removed the shroud from the entire map?, cause there are several small islands which could also contain generators.
It is not an easy map, but I guess you must have missed something somewhere.

Tried it one last time and understood, what went wrong! there is a house in the left side of the map that I thought was just a decoration, but it turned out you can get Halflings there so problem solved and I can go on!

How cheesy it is to save, sacrifize entire main's army to see what other guys will get till last free slot, then reload and make your picks from witch huts and universities?

Why shouldn't it work? That's an AI game, so quite anything will work... vs. dumb AI I personally prefer Mephala in case of armorer hero (Leadership). And for Firemagic I would prefer logistics. As for artifacts: Angelic Alliance > Rest, since your hero already got earthmagic only slow is needed the whole battle. Also Offense with two and massive units ranged isn't best choice either, I personaly would use dragons with that build.

Fire I got from testing a Witch Hut when he was scouting and since he wouldn't get it any other way I called it faith. Problem was he had to learn Earth but I tested it and I would only get Air and First Aid or Eagle Eye for last choice. I didn't knew where to get Path or Log but I knew a university selling these two. So I made a choice, what I wouldn't do was to delay second hero development because I need this or that skill (other then Earth, of course).
About army, well I was playing Cove, got another Cove then two towers. For a while they served mostly earn money to but the other forces and the joinners from my own type. Then when I had enouch money to buy army Tower was the most populate. No dragons on map, btw.

You need to download Gray Face map editor patch adapted to HotA editor: https://yadi.sk/d/JbbyEUFLdv4hq
Put it in HotA folder and run h3hota_maped.exe with command line key "/p:gf_me_patch.dll". Some of functionality of Gray Face patch will be available (including copying parts of map).
To copy map part enter Obstackle Brush section, click "copy" icon in the top-right corner (near Minimap) and select what map area to copy.
Then start creating new map, click "paste" icon in the top-right corner and select place to paste copied part of map.

We are definetely looking into this as it would a long-requested and interesting feature. Which doesn't mean, that it will appear any soon though.
