I've rewatched the Factory video trying to scour for any possible novelties or hidden things. Nothing big, but there are some details that caught my attention. Not that those are some super finds, just small interesting tidbits:
- I don't remember any Heroes III objects that would be "passable" as the natural rock arch here:
- I wonder if this here horse is mechanical. Actually it would be pretty neat if faction heroes used mechanical horses as mounts.
- I assume the clay houses on the right side of the townscreen (near the elevator on the cliff) are Halfling dwellings (the wooden tower and additional outhouses are signs of an upgraded structure). We can see the same building on the map. The structure above probably increases the weekly growth, like Gnolls Captain's Quarters for instance. Interestingly, the "halway elevator" is missing on the second townscreen which doesn't have a fort. Does it mean that building a Castle adds this visual element?
- Don't remember it being mentioned before, but it appears there are some cannon-like objects on the Castle towers. Some unique new defensive objects like Towers landmine "moat"? Or your standard defensive towers? There are also something like gears jutting out below those.
Also I assume the Grail stracture is the shining steam engine wheel near the bridge which would be fitting for a steam-oriented faction.

It was mentioned at some point when it was announced and touched on in the artwork for the town I believe. Don't take my word for it though. I don't think its the moat so perhaps a defensive structure? like arrow towers?

If it is I'm not a big fan of it right now. But you are probably right because the town is producing 9000 gold so the grail is built.

i think that mix wester lore with dwarven artificiers lore and sand landscape is not the best idea.
sand lore in MM is all around ancients, Anubis(MM6), Tritons (MM8) and alternative deads (mummies)
western (look at the building with the bull skull), bombers, simply dont match with MM
"dwarven" mechanists, artificiers, yes.
but simply all the mix together is not the best idea.

Hmm I'm not entirely sure it fits either, but unless you want them to cancel the whole thing and waste many months you should keep an open mind.
The town looks good and interesting and so much better than original Forge concept.
I am excited for it, just hope they wont make it too overpowered.
To get a little more information about the town would also be nice.

I wonder what is the idea behind Factory in this iteration. Firstly, and that is the question for the lore maniacs, is there any mention of a faction such as this somewhere? You know: bandits of the Wasteland, a forgotten part of the continent, or sth that was present in M&M games? Or is this HotA teams idea for a "Forge" faction that doesn't break the overall aesthetic of H3 that much?
So far it's HotA teams quality that makes me trust their choice, but I'm still not convinced how it fits the game. Cove fits the game as it is simply Regna. If Factory was heavy on the "automata" and Artificers side it would fit better, but so far I only see heavy Wild West with a twist, and I'm not particulary fond of this direction.
Kromwerk and Cathedral seemed to at least have fitted the game better if you ask me.

Technollogy was allways in M&M games and about Forge
Forge has 2 concepts one is SCI-FI and 2 was Steampunk and HOTA team decicde to take steampunk version. I see Factory as a Forge i know its bad thinking bad for me main idea was Forge to be most technology town in the game, since forge was not relleased Factory take his place + Wastes from Heroes 2 suits well to wild west and to faction and the game.

although not canon because that is a fan mod they must be based on one of the missing lore texts from the 3DO buyout,
after the big Kreegan Occupation was flushed down the toilet thanks to Crazy Catherine and the Halflings got back their hometown of Eeofol, it was no longer really the Eeofol ("East Shire") as in Lord of the Rings and rather a Wasteland, because of the volcano and the lava and that,
thus they renamed that to the land of Yeeohol (translation "Wild East Shire") which had soon gotten basterdised to the Kingdom of Yeehaw, then they ripped apart the leftover Infernos to reverse engineer the Alien Artifacts (aka bombs) and raided the Mayan Pyramids over Jadame with the Quetzacouatl to put in the greenhouse, and attracted the Clint Eastwood and those lads,
now they are the Great Factories (sweatshops) of Yeehaw and they are fairly angry to bomb you, bear in mind there were no Halfling Heroes of the original game because they were refugees and all of the other races are racists so they are an SJW faction basically which all Heroes players will enjoy, they will prove that the Halflings can be Heroes too just like Sam, Bilbo and Gollum (which is canon because they are Heroes in Heroes 4) cheers lol
