Well, the first were just trials, but I agree I should have done them another way (eg. questionnaire).

Sorry, phoenix4ever. But I think we should make a thread about TP, if there isn't any yet (plus, I'm tired, worked all day, words do slip. Should I delete my harassment?).

But in all seriousness, I do kinda agree that Town Portal can be OP. Like if you have a dedicated, full kit, magic hero Town Portal is just ridiculous. Even more so if you are playing Dungeon and have Mana Vortex doubling your magic points every time you visit that town.

Of course, maps that are XL and above, TP is essential. Otherwise the maps are quite unplayable and it gets really boring.

A limit to how many times it can be cast wouldn't go amiss I feel. 5 times a day is generous, but not that bad. Same as Dimension Door.

But downright removing it is.... extreme.

Ahh someone finally admits I may have a point.
I never said to remove it though, but tone it down.
And I don't like the extreme difference with and without Earth Magic. It's one of the reasons you are always forced to pick Earth Magic, along with Slow and Resurrection, but that is probably hard to change...
At least you don't absolutely need Air Magic, if Dimension Door is only once per day, like it is in my game.

That wouldn't work, at least not in the conditions you are imagining and even less in XL or Giant maps, where you have lots of time to build secondary heroes.
You use Dimension Door to move your hero in front, if they were ilimmited you could almost take the rest of the map in one day. Besides defending a region, you use Town Portal to visit power-ups and learn spells and to amass troops. Now, even if is limited to X times you would probably still find an opportunity to visit the stables and the occasional Hall of Valhalla or Wall of Knowledge. The big difference would be collecting troops from a dozen towns with the same guy but (and I already do this after some time) you can have a few heroes with Advanced/Expert Earth inside the towns and send them to do the job. Frequently the guy inside the town doesn't even have enough knowledge to TP 5 times but they take turns to accomplish the task. It could be slightelly more complicated but in the end the result would be similar and after some time you would almost forgot it was possible to do it differently (and worst, you shouldn't waste your main's movement).

If you design a map where TP is removed just because you want AI mediocre heroes to harass your land, then good luck finding players. I have yet to see such map, maybe Phoenix post it one day so we are fixed on its value.

Again I have never said TP should be removed. Removing it also hurts AI players and without TP they are below abysmal.

HotA now reduced Logistics, Gloves and Shoes which limit movement points. PVP has diffrent rules then Single Player. Also good luck playing with limited Town Portal on maps XL+(H, EH, G)

A limit of ~5 could be reasonable. But I tend to agree with you too. Big maps require using TP plenty of times.

Damn, I feel misunderstood. I made a map for Invite Hero abuse and I received a complaint it allows for 80/100 contacts a day. I do more then 10.000 day 1 and that is precisely the objective of the map... Why people think it wasn't fully tested?
Now I reasonably explain why limit Town Portal casts is pointless and someone completely dismisses it and say it would be reasonable.

Yeah you're right. I'm not thinking, I haven't any HotA. The last 1.4.? version something. Ok I think alternative rule can do. We have DD rule. Well I think also possible pyramid, only TP appears in a pyramid also Tome of Earth and scholar, spell scroll or Pandora's Box. Ok infinite travel TP, because those are hard to get a TP. Smaller map I never seen Dragon Utopia or often scholar doesn't give a TP similarly spell scroll. A new templar could be interesting.

I can do what I've explained above in a map made by the RMG using a regular template. As a matter of fact, it is more probable I use it in a map like that, cause it takes too long to complete.

True. But not everyone even knows about the trick. And in competitive PvP I guess it's banned (which I don't play).

Question!

Docent posted a while ago that following skills are about to get changes at some point: Pathfinding, Luck, Artillery, Sorcery and Learning would get small adjustments, while Eagle Eye, First air and Ballistics could get bigged changes. So with that in mind:

1) Can you give any (raw) guidelines how you're going to balance the mentioned skills?

2) Skill such as Ballistics is very bad to begin with, but pretty much completely useless in multiplayer style of play. Are you trying to make each skill somewhat "worthy" for multiplayer games, or will there still be skills that are only good in some rare special scenarios?

That sounds very, very good, all of these skills are mediocre at best.
