Snowing buddy came my territory means I'm losing the game.. Because I've not advanced from territory to territory.. AI scout came and found my territory  My 17lvl Wisdom, Artillery, Air, Earth, Tactics, Offense (offered an armorer or offense) and Water with throng Wolves, throng Orcs, lots Ogres, lots Birds, lots Cyclopses and several Behemoths in 2 months in the random Giant map and 2 vs 2.. So I recommend HotA and DoR are using a Difficulty mod by RerryR.. Speed! Hasteee! So always be fast....
I'm alive  I got a town, and I must go to conquest another towns.. Question is territory! And I love Difficulty mod!

Do you have a problem with Medusas being a species of snake-bodied women instead of the name of a single winged, two-legged gorgon? Do you have a problem with orcs, goblins, and trolls all being separate creatures? Do you have a problem with naga being snake women instead of sacred serpents? These are all relatively modern inventions, many of them coming straight out of DnD and/or Lord of the Rings.
Cultures adapt, mythology moves along, and new ideas are integrated and exaggerated. If you're gonna use a gnome that's commonly associated with Christmas nowadays, then you might as well have some fun with the concept. I don't why you're taking this as a personal offense. This game is cartoony as hell. Let's not pretend that base HoMM III is in any way a gritty game.

could you do the least for the rest of us, who watch this topic for some discussion or any piece of information about mod which is in the title ?
Always the same drooling bunch, who just spam this topic with stuff nobody cares about, or promoting and denouncing Hota or the authors of Hota. Bunch of haters and trolls who didnt contribute, yet talk a lot of crap.
Yet when new versions comes out will be one of the first to download it. Pathetic. Should be humbled by somebody.

Can't agree more. I return to this topic on a regular basis, having to wade through a lot of verbal hot air, but rarely finding any real news. It would be awesome if the "announcement" thread had actual "announcements" in it when it showed new posts. At this rate I will start avoiding this thread entirely and end up missing actual news.

I one would totally integrate with little question any new concept, idea of creature, faction etc. Because I can explain it (storywise) how that was 'intentionally' left out of the story and now we simply discover it.
Santa is a fun, mythological being and it deserves to have a spot in a mythology based world. Just like elves, centaurs, minotaur, cyclopes etc. - many out of which should basically be one creature (hydra, minotaur were specific creatures in mythology, not races). I would even include Toothfairy, Eater Rabbit etc. as heroes (from William Joyce's world). So i am very open to addition to the story.
Now, what i would be mad about is making mistakes in the already known story. Like how they totally left Adelaide out of the story even though her description is the only one referring to the Vori Elves in the whole game. Man, i waited for a wholfe life to find out what happened in her past and nothing about her in the teasers. She would ve done a nice leading character 
It s a missed opportunity like many-many others.

And to the christmasifier, yes I do prefer authentic mythological creatures over pop cultures counterparts if at all possible. For example green WoW style orcs using oversized axes and looking like bodybuilders measuring ten feet tall with ridiculous tusks and pseudo-tribal garb are a disgrace to me.

HotA had a massive news dump at the start of July. Yes, it's been barren since then, but I would be shocked if Factory isn't released by News Years at this rate. It's real close.

It was an Old English word that referred specifically to the descendants of Cain, and was otherwise interchangeably used with devil. It's derived from Orcus, which is another name for Pluto, which is the Roman name for Hades. Tolkien only used the word because orcs in LotR are fallen elves, and also it's a good-sounding word. He literally said that.

I don't think it's evidenced anywhere in Tolkien's work that Orcs are Elves twisted and tortured by Melkor, I think there are vague accounts pointing to either that or Melkor creating Orcs and others from scratch.
But you are right, there is no concept what a "traditional Orc" looks like and what a pop culture one looks like. Some Asian fantasy outlets, like games or animes have different take on it.
For example the Korean MMORPG Lineage 2 has more normal looking Orcs:
And the anime That Time I got Reincarnated as a Slime has completely different Orcs:
And in the same, the Goblins are the ones that look like traditional Orcs:
So it's impossible to tell what is "normal" and what is "abnormal", I stopped paying attention to that crap long ago.

 I can't remember Maybe I haven't added a word yet.. Yes orcs are different surely.. No sense that only one orc race/species vs human races are white, black and Asian, when those are different skull, if you know, so ok

You are saying yourself that Tolkien invented orcs. And he invented them as small, sallow, people, shorter than humans, small and twisted. Therefore, these uber big "barbarian types" that play to bodybuilder stereotypes don't respond to that tradition at all.
Therefore we have such problems that you yourself are displaying, nobody know what an "orc" even looks like. Which is the problem of not sticking with the established sources.

In the last update they said that the fire objects are being improved and added back into the editor. No specific word on the waterfalls, but hopefully those are in too.

Anybody else feel like the Magic Mirror spell sucks? 20-40% chance to reflect a spell, but it only casts on a single target, meaning you're better off using a different spell 99.99% of the time.
If HotA were to improve the spell, how would you go about it?
Originally, I thought of changing it to trigger 100% of the time, but only being able to reflect a limited number of spells (1/2/3 based on skill in Air Magic). However, comments I got on Reddit said it would just end up being a more situational and arguably worse spell compared to Anti-Magic (even if it would allow you to buff your creatures while Anti-Magic prevents that).
As such, the safest approach would probably be to make it a Mass spell if you have Expert Air Magic. This would probably be the best way to go about it, but the spell is still RNG-dependent.
What do you think would work?
