I tried VCMI, but I haven't been able to install.. And then I used Interface in the WoG 3,58f.. I don't like a VCMI, thus many towns, and creatures.. I like an original objects, but using a script.. So WoG/ERA for me.. HotA would been cool, if only Cove, but I test then.. What's the benefit? Berserk, and other rules, what I can show you that my map is The Immortal Battle (must be HotA), but ok.. And another reason, I must update MWM.. So HotA is better than SoD, hands down..

VCMI is basically "open heroes 3" and by default it is almost as barebone as H3 with HD mod (some QoL stuff are on by default but can be toggled off to make stuff work as in H3 without HD mod). All new stuff like towns and creatures are optional packs. It is also possible to change ways how default things work in own mods, though not via scripting yet - just advanced configuration. Also feel free to let me know what was your trouble with installing and I will assist, either in VCMI topic (to limit offtopic here) or VCMI discord. Anyway the correct way is to install VCMI to separate folder and launch vcmi_launcher and it will guide you into telling it where you have H3 files etc.

Yes good news..

One yet! HotA crew can edit difficulty levels without Difficulty Mod by RerryR or Sal, thus AI bonuses can edit freely.. And then HotA crew steals or copies Human AI mod, they edit improved their version.. No problem!

Think about my hero is the strongest hero in the 4 place now, ~60 att/def with 1,5k Stroms, 5k Sprites, 103 Phoenixes, throng of Magics, zounds of Energies and swarm of Ices.. I thankee a good fight with green.. Yes combat paid creatures, esp. no-living creatures..

Ok the next happy new year message in 31.12, if I remember or feel to make a thread..

Does it matter? HoTA is pretty good as it is. I can imagine playing it for 10-20 more years and not get bored with it. Even without it the base game still is probably my #1 game of all time that I can play on my deathbed.

The only thing, which I think HoTA introduced was Gigantic sized maps, or was it the HD mod? I don't know for sure, but this is the only change I can't imagine playing without now, it's such a good addition.

Neither. Long before HoTA there was an exe hack that allowed G-sized maps with Vanilla or WoG version.

As it turns out, it is rather simple thing to do.

A new town is loads of extra content, if this was just another balance patch I'd be less hyped.

Patch was supposed to come out new years 2021, now 3 years later and stil nothing - that's reaaaaally slow progress.

Honestly, I wish the dudes would set up a patreon or smth to go full time working on it. Many would pay.

Wishfull thinking. Also quite unrealistic. Even if Ubi didn't own the rights you can't expect making a living with a 20 yo mod. It's a passion they do on the side and it will remain this way. Doesn't mean we will never see the new town, but it's not the community that's setting the deadlines.

Patreon is currently restricted in Russia. Along with all the modern tech and IT services (clouds, servers) and AI tools.

HotA Crew donation policy is strict and didn't change in years; In fact, HotA Crew doesn't accept any donations and will continue to do so.

That's why there is still hope. As soon as something turns from a passion project to something that's being monetized in any way, the soul of the project dies and the relationship of the developers towards the project changes from wanting to create something nice to "just doing it for the money".

I think @okrane's problem is he views this like it's some official, legitimate developer studio and there are deadlines.

I will be waiting for The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind's Skyrim mod Skywind who knows... maybe 5-10 more years. I will be waiting for OpenMW to release a "complete and finished" version maybe 10+ more years. As soon as you come to terms with this and don't frantically look for updates every day, it stops bothering you.

I don't care if HoTA 1.7 releases tomorrow or 20 years from now. I have HoMM3, HoTA, WoG and tons of other mods I've never given a honest try like VCMI, ERA, The Succession Wars, Master of Puppets and many, many more.

I have collected all that we know or might know so far of the dwellings and heroes of Factory based on these most recent screenshots and some earlier ones too.

Dwellings

There have been almost all dwellings displayed already with several exceptions.

Halfling dwelling:



Pretty obvious, have been seen on previous town screens too, would be a big surprise if this would not be the Halfling dwelling ultimately.


Sandworm dwelling:



This one seems pretty obvious too.


Automaton dwelling:



This one has been confirmed by one of the devs on DF2 forum to be the Automaton dwelling:




Mechanic dwelling:




As the Automaton dwelling has been confirmed this could pretty much only be the Mechanic dwelling.


Unknown dwelling:



This one is still a puzzle, but I lean towards the Gunslinger/Bounty Hunter dwelling. I know that it has been confirmed as the Saloon earlier, however since then the design of these units have undergone changes to lose the "cowboy" feel to them and rather have a "witch hunter" feel to them (this one also has been confirmed somewhere, maybe here too, but I could not find it)

It could very well be the Armadillo dwelling as well, however based on the guard on this screenshot I suspect that this is a new Gunslinger dwelling, but then again it can not be seen if there are other objects around that those Cavaliers guard.

The HotA Crew is notorious for leaving little Easter Eggs anyway, so it is possible that they showcase the 3 lowest tier dwellings on this screenshot, but also possible to showcase all humanoid unit dwellings on this screenshot (Halfling, Mechanic, Gunslinger).


Couatl dwelling:



This one has only been confirmed at early stages, however as we know no more information on this, likely remained something similar give or take minor changes.


Extra dwelling:

I have spotted this on the recently released town screen, once checked the unit portraits:




Now this huge building that exudes smoke/steam has not been on previous unit portraits, only the obsolete castle model. I do suspect that this could be the Juggernaut building. It seems massive and seems to be able to produce some mechanical stuff. The shadow of the smoke/steam (at least this is what i think it is ) can even be seen reflected on the castle walls:



It is possible that it is now even a dwelling though.



Btw, if Todd's starting army is what can be seen on the screen (which - based on the numbers - is possible) he might be a Ballista specialist. Less likely a Cannon or First Aid specialist.

For some reason, based on a screenshot earlier of Bertram sitting at a desk, I think he will either have a precious resource speciality and/or have Estates as one of his starting skills.

For me, Sam seems to be the Mechanic specialist and Murdock to be the Gunslinger specialist.

The adventure map's wooden walls do not have the same color grading as the rest. The tips should be brighter, and the colors more saturated.

That's not really true. Russia doesn't restrict Patreon, rather USA financial services restrict Russia

And AI tools can be used as normal. Russia also has a few domestic AI tools such as Kandinsky

Really good analysis! Those all seem like solid theories to me.

If that fort-looking thing is the Gunslinger dwelling, then honestly I'm kinda sad. I liked how the Saloon looked, and it was neat and flavourful as a dwelling attached to the market. However, I think your reasoning is sound.

EDIT: Looking at it closer, I think the building that exudes smoke on the unit portraits is the Mechanic dwelling. You can see the same sloped roof and door shape. It's normal for adventure map objects to be less elaborate than the in-town versions, so that's why it has so much more smoke on the town.

That's also true. I think they've recently said that there will be no new neutral creatures, but it could be the Steel Golem dwelling since they currently lack one.

Upgrades to current Neutrals would be super cool too. Not that I think it will happen, but a ranged troll or something would be super on theme with everything else they've been doing with Factory.
