Guys, is there any way to ban specific spells/items (Dimension Door etc) from the HotA random templates all at once?

Just came back to the game a couple of days ago after many years, installed the new HotA mod, tried to play a Giant random map created from the HotA templates, then at the start of month 3 some of the opponents got the Dimension Door spell and his turns now take like 2-3 minutes each (learned from the internet that the spell is the cause), not to mention the guy got the strongest army and just teleports anywhere he wants which gives him a huge advantage, the game became unplayable for both these reasons.

There's a random map editor in the game folder which actually has an option to apply all the changes made to a single template to all templates from the pack in the template editor (tho I seem to only be able to select spells to disable, not artifacts or other things), however I hear ppl say it kinda doesn't work and u still have to do every map manually one by one. Can u confirm that and is there any other way to ban Dimension Door and perhaps some more imbalanced spells/items in all of the maps at once? What else would u suggest to ban? Was thinking about the summon elemental spells, the spell that lets u teleport from one town to another, the water walk thingie, iirc there are some artifcats with similar effect as well.


Also, after u've banned the things u wanted to in the editor, is there a way to check if an active game has the ban properly applied? So u know if the global ban worked without having to play for a lot of turns just to confirm that.

Your random loss, or what? So you've a bad luck.. Ok the next time you get a DD!, but maybe opponent is still stronger than you, when you've to believe the game.. Not HotA, so you develop successfully!! I had done.. Believe or Death!

Ok for your rule aka you challenge him/her.. I think arena maps or hotseat, etc you find tournament rule, so disabled DD.. But I heard one time can cast a DD, if rule on..

It's a solo game against AI, sorry if I didn't make it clear. I just came back after 15+ years, so there's no way I'd be playing pvp. Also, I got my own DD shortly after (or maybe even had it earlier but I fotgor such a spell even existed in the game) but I still don't like the very idea ot the spell. So I really didn't mean to rant or anything, just want to make sure DD and other things like that which ruin the experience don't appear in my future games, that's all.

Are u 100% sure it works? I did just that and also made sure to click "apply changes to all templates from this pack" but from what I read ppl complained that it still only changed the settings of a single template in HotA 1.6. The editor shows all those spells as banned properly in all of the templates so in theory it should be fine but...

Yesterday I created a random map based on one of the templates with banned spells, then opened the newly created map in the map editor. In the map settings there, the spells aren't checked as disabled. Maybe it's just that the map editor doesn't detect the changed made by the template editor, I don't know. Maybe I'll use some cheats to instantly get the starting city maxed out and see if any of those appear. I wonder if I should also ban the spells in the map editor, don't think it will create any conficts with the template editor bans, will it?

Also, got any idea if I can also ban items somehow? The boots that let u fly and stuff like that. Teamplate editor doesn't seem to have that option. Will it work if I just ban them in the map editor after the map has been generated?

Just did that and both Flight and Dimension Door appeared without any problems even without rerolling the spells, on the first 2 tries. The template had both banned so can confirm disabling them in the template editor doesn't work.

Are you sure you open the template you are playing? See the HotA_RMGTemplates folder. Open your favorite template, make changes, save and start a random map with the edited template.

I tested the Dead Ornament, ok.. Yes AIs are so too strong due to awesome AI bonuses.. But AIs can't step on lake, etc Then I tested myself, yes I can step on lake.. What? How? Because its a empty. No object, I made in WoG with advanced properties, and to paste HotA.. Too sad that some read here.. But ok.. The Dead Ornament for veterans and WoG'ers, thus too hard AIs.. We never meet AIs, when rock prevents AIs and player meet.. Victory: AI or player to find artifact in rock territory.. So grandmaster SP beat the MP.. Interesting philosopher.. You find more MapHaven.. Ok we go to matter: why AIs can't step on lake?

That's something I didn't know, will try it out, though it still seems only spells can be banned using the template editor, hoped to also ban some artifacts. Anyway, do u per chance know if the ban applies to all sources of the spells if u disable them through the template editor, including pandora boxes and such?

For now I did it like this: created a map using the original templates, opened the newly generated map in a regular map editor, banned some spells/items and then started a game using that edited map. Can confirm it does remove the spells from castles, after 2 days of playing I also haven't seen any of the banned items on the map, however I did obtain 2 of the banned spells from pandora boxes and that cleric guy that gives u random stats and spells. So they're not completely gone. I wonder if banning them through the template editor can also solve this. Once an AI obtains Dimension Door the game becomes a lag fest, so I want to make sure it's completely unobtainable.

AI stepped on lake And harder than before*.. Because now AI can reach a artifact.. Before no one can reach a artifact due to unfinished territory..

*in about 1m 3w 7d AIs beat the garrison.. Why? AI wanted also win.. I'm honest..

Bug! AI stayed playing two way monolith already 10min.. Maybe AI thinks the Dead Ornament is very realistic game.. Now's 15min.. The best RoE, when you must to move from two way monolith, and then etc

Hello, sorry to bother u again. I'm extremely tired of trying to ban those annoying spells and just want to make sure the next game I start is finally free from them for good.

So I tried doing what u suggested - edited a template, saved it under another name, banned the spells I wanted to ban, started a game using that template, restarted it multiple times and used cheats to max out my starting castle to see if they won't appear, and they indeed didn't. Are u 100% sure they aren't obtainable from pandora boxes and such, is it safe to finally relax and enjoy the game? And another very important thing - after the map has been generated, can I open it in the map editor and also ban flying boots and stuff like that (cos I think they can't be banned from the template editor, if I'm wrong pls let me know)? The last time I just created a game using the default template, then edited the generated map in the map editor and banned all the spells and items - the spells didn't appear in castles but could still be obtained from pandora boxes and other stuff like that, every AI hero had a DD after only like 3-4 months, but I haven't seen a single banned artifact for 7 months so I think the ban at least worked for items, not sure tho. And if it turns out editing the map in the map editor overwrites the template editor bans and re-enables the spells somehow (idk how, I'm just desperate to make sure all sources of that trash are completely disabled) then I think I'll just give up on trying at this point.

So just to summarize:
1. I open a template in the template editor and ban the spells, then save the template under another name.
2. I generate a map using that template.
3. I open the generated map in the original map editor and ban artifacts, save then start a game.

Will both the spells and artifacts and any way to get them be disabled for good?

Is Explorer effective for task e.g. artifact? Because the Dead Ornament (HotA) map, two AIs arrived in final territory, but AIs can't fight and take a artifact to victory nor fight against AI, they're stayed in the final territory.. Ok Warrior is always poor also Builder in the Dead Ornament.. Ok I'm waiting for AIs finish a task.. Soon I send to maps4heroes..

Hey everyone! Playing Legacy of Silence at the moment, fantastic mod. Does anyone know how to change the name of your random maps, just for the High Scores once you complete a map? Thanks in advance!

Should be easy using the Map Editor.  
Tools -> Map Specifications -> [General Tab] Map Name: <edit>
