That's not a bug, that's a feature. In the HotA campaign maps there are some heroes with insanely high levels (1000 or so) which makes their speciality incredibly strong. In your examples their speciality was Air Shield and Serpent/Dragon Flies.
Edit: Sorry, started to write my post before AlexSpl posted theirs.

At campaign map 4's final stretch. The Dryope fight really needs reworking. Let me explain.
Essentially, the idea was is to use exploding cloned automatons stack which ignores defense, around 80 of them or so. You need to do this around 7 times to stop the golems. However, there are many holes in this which makes it stupidly hard to implement.
1) The Diamond Golems boosted by Haste will just go after your Automatons. If they die, the clone disappears.
2) It hinges on the hero being able to cast multiple spells in one turn. Clone and then Cure for the frenzy or Slow for the golems to stop your army being shredded.
3) If you use Efreeti Sultans which have fire spell immunity, the diamond golems will just stay in the center and one shot them with Haste buff.
4) Dryope is camping in a Castle. More often than not, the clones will just get picked off by the arrow towers while the golem defend.
5) The Castle walls are ironically the only thing stopping the Golems from kicking the rest of your army. You cannot destroy the catapult unless you use AOE spells.
6) The Sentinel Automatons have no enemy retaliation. This also means that the clone cannot trigger the explosion unless you purposely use the base versions.
After trying to use the "intended" strategy for 45 mins, I just went saved up 80+ spellpower and around 2k spell points. Used my stack of Efreeti Sultans to have them run around and use summon elemental spell. The elementals soaked the golems while I cast an orb-buffed Lightning Bolt on them over and over at 3k damage. It was only 2-3 golems per cast at every 3 rounds or so. Took me 1500 spell points and 100+ rounds.
On another note, when you reach Agar's camp for the first time at the dark blue keymaster tent, why is there a one-way gate at all? All it does is block out the quest guard and seer's hut behind it if you didn't finish them first as you most likely didn't kill the hero beforehand.

Today, I have tremendous news—news that will reshape history, bring peace to the world, and, frankly, make every HoMM fan smile. After long and productive conversations with both Zelenski and Putin—two guys, let me tell you, they’ve been at it like Tower and Inferno in a bad Random Map—I’m proud to announce that the war will end effective immediately on January 1st, 2025. That’s right, folks—peace, prosperity, and incredible balance are on the horizon.
But here’s the real kicker: we’re launching it all alongside HoTA 1.80. And let me tell you, this isn’t just an update—it’s the update. Balance changes? You better believe it. I personally supervised them, folks. This update has my golden touch all over it. The Conflux faction? Rebalanced. Necropolis? Let’s just say it’s not the overpowered menace it once was. And don’t even get me started on Fortress—it’s finally got the buffs it deserves.
We’re making Heroes great again, folks. This isn’t just about gaming—it’s about diplomacy. The battlefield is moving from the real world to the beautifully hexed landscapes of HoMM. And believe me, when Putin’s Fortress takes on Zelenski’s Castle in a fair fight with HoTA 1.80, the world will cheer.
So, mark your calendars, folks: January 1st, 2025. Peace on Earth, balance in HoTA. A bigly win for everyone. You're welcome!"

So, is this something real and official or is it just the ramblings of someone who spent too much time in Sheogorath's realm of madness?

I can't tell if it's satire or something, I looked through the user's other posts and they also feel like either satire or someone detached from reality.

Friends,
The new year is yet to arrive, but the time to find out what befell Dargem has come.
We present to you the version 1.7.2. Some of the more perspicacious viewers were able to unravel the clues we scattered across our earlier announcement. In this update, you will indeed find long-awaited game balance changes related to the rarely utilized and less-useful secondary skills. The end of an era is high: Eagle Eye jokes are becoming obsolete. To study the changes in detail, peruse the changelog, and for now, here's a brief description of the latest developments in HotA:
- A number of weaker secondary skills have been reworked in order to make each of them at least situationally useful.
- The specializations of a number of heroes related to spells and creatures have been reworked; their impact on the game should be more noticeable now.
- Some minor alterations were made to the Factory's internal balance in a bid to strengthen its technological branch, which turned out to be less desirable than expected.
- Some fixes to game mechanics, long-suggested by online play experience, have been introduced.
- The user interfaces of the editor programs included in the distributive have been partially reworked for better compatibility with modern screens and high resolutions, bugs have been fixed, and some other QoL improvements have been introduced. A number of interesting new features has been added to the scenario editor.
- A new campaign, All In, has been added. Play it to learn more about Dargem Llywellyn and the events that took place in his life in the period between his fateful encounters with Boyd and Bidley.
9 new single-player scenarios have been added.
- If you like dragons, then there's a pleasant surprise waiting for you!
See you in the new year!
The update is available here.

I cannot believe they have finally caved and added personal gameplay preferences to this (formerly) great mod.
With the exception of Eagle eye, I do not like any of the other changes.
This is a complete philosophical 180.

Thank you for the exciting update and Happy New Year to everyone. Looks like the update will stir up the way we play the game quite a bit. Looking forward to expanding the horizons.
Won't keep me from making Eagle Eye jokes though.
Love the new UI additions.
Does this
[+] Ballistics protects the Catapult, preventing it from losing more than 40% HP in a single hit
also apply to spell damage?

Hmm quite a lot to take in, with this update. Not sure I like it all and I will probably read the changelog 5 more times, before deciding if I should update.
It says in the changelog Scholar increases XP, I assume it's supposed to say Learning?

[+] Added the ability to teleport through the Castle Gate of an Inferno town to ally towns, including when playing without the HD-Mod
HALLELUJAH! This is the single biggest change I have wanted from HOTA. A lot of the changes look interesting.
Not sure about the protecting siege machines. A lot of the skills needed a buff, but it feels like a kind of Wog-y way to do it. And ballistics didn't really need a buff, did it? I guess having a single implosion nullify your secondary skill sucked, but it was still absorbing a hit that would otherwise kill a stack of gold dragons.
Eagle eye change looks cool. Does that apply to adventure map spells as well then? That would be exciting.
Pathfinding is now a mini logistics? I'm kind of into it. Helps with maps where it is green grass all around and means you need two skills now to move fast instead of one. Plus means those hip waders or whatever they are don't completely make the skill useless.
The luck buff seems fun.
I like how the weakness specialization got completely flipped.
[+] First Aid gives the First Aid Tent the ability to increase the HP of all creatures in the hero's army by 5/10/15% (rounded down) while the Tent is present on the battlefield
[+] Mysticism now allows the hero to restore 10/20/30% of his maximum spell points per day, but no less than 5/10/15
These are probably the changes I'm balking most at. Neither feels very HommIII, they feel kind of complicated and full of numbers. I get that First aid needed a boost, but I think making it heal more than one creature per round would have been the direction to go over doing something percentage based. Even making it +1/2/3 hp would feel more in line with Heroes.
And Mysticism I thought was already in a really nice, easy to understand place after HOTAs initial buff. This complicates it and again adds percentages where I don't think they were needed.
And making dragons easier to buy is interesting. I'd almost prefer the dragons were buffed rather than made easier to get. It can be fun to fully upgrade your way over to them.
Can't wait to see how it all shakes out, I'm sure there will be plenty of tweaks once people have been testing it for a while, and I love that more options are being allowed in the scenario editor.
As for the Bulwark, 2034 is going to be awesome

Yeah Learning and First Aid and maybe Pathfinding sounds good now. Perhaps even must have skills? (Of course you need a tent, to get anything out of First Aid.)
Still only 8 skills per hero, seems to me at least 10 is needed now...

Kidding aside, this is honestly super-exciting. A new town was the last thing I was expecting to see today.
