I always suspected that there was another new city in Hota 2.0?, as they announced way back in 2008, thanks to the team for the work done and for the wonderful news about the near future, and now we wait for the Bulwark (kronwerk revisited) , I can't wait, I already like it, I hope that HotA continues "forever"

Most of the secondary skill changes seem at least semi logical, except for the changes to First Aid. The fact that you need to have a tent for it to be any good, is a bit of a flaw, as even if it can take three hits, those hits don't have to be big. A couple dozen Marskmen will knock off 80% of its hp in the first attack.

Such a shame HotA is also making Vori town. I would have much preffered they made a dwarf town simular to original Kronwerk or Ubisoft Fortress.
Palace is already the true Vori faction in my heart.

I liked the eagle eye change. It changes the game a lot for the A.I. which tends to "not build" mage guilds or try to get spells. This way having secondary heroes getting even caught mean that your mage guilds will be compromised very fast. (I like the change a lot)
Learning , Sorcery , First aid are very good changes. I also like creature specializations mean something now.
I wish there were some changes to spells a bit and some useless buildings (Blood obelisk etc )

Can anyone explain how the pathfinding now works? I don't get the changelog description
Otherwise, I don't have any strong opinions, learning and first aid are well boosted. I am not sure whether boosting engineers was necessary... There are many life-improving fixes, the castle gate in Inferno finally became useful in allied scenarios! Great work

Standard non diagonal move costs 100 points, diagonal 141 (because Pythagoras). Swamp has 75% movement penalty so moving on swamp costs 175 non diagonally. New pathfinding now reduces movement cost by flat amount so expert PF reduces the cost of moving on swamp by 75 making it cost 100.
BUT now PF works regardless of the terrain you are at so moving on grass will now cost 85 instead of 100, meaning that you effectively get mini logistics when moving on non swamp AND non road terrain with expert PF (roads still reduce movement cost MORE than PF can ever do, so logistics with roads is still the fastest way to move unless you can find a really good, hard terrain shortcut with PF).
If you still do not get it read heroes wiki until you reach enlightenment.

The wiki does'nt explain the new Pathfinding very well either.
So you only use 95/90/85 movement points, where you would normally use 100? Meaning dirt, grass, lava, subterranean and highlands?
That kinda makes Pathfinding a must have skill too.

In new Hota 1.7.2, if a hero has First aid skill (and owns a tent), all creatures get a health bonus of 5/10/15% depending on First aid skill level.
It seems that if creature health is too low, no bonus is given. I wonder if this is intentional.
Edit, nevermind it's intentional. It's rounded down:
https://download.h3hota.com/upd/changelogs/eng.txt
[+] First Aid gives the First Aid Tent the ability to increase the HP of all creatures in the hero's army by 5/10/15% (rounded down) while the Tent is not destroyed
So weakest creatures won't get bonuses.

Exactly. The wiki doesn't say anything about "non-rough" terrains. Does the pathfinding work really everywhere? If so, it is especially useful when making diagonal moves.

I would relly like to see some kind of resurrection of the Heroes 2 type of Sphinx. or the City of the Dead. Something like a little Dragon Utopia. I would really appreicate that.
How about implement snow versions of any map object (that still don't have one) War academy, Arena, Star Axis, Garden, etc...
Day of Reckoning already doing this... I think, when that comes out I steal these objects and the town type specific walls and gates and implement them to Hota (just for myself).

Thanks for the new update, I'm especially thankful for all the changes made into secondary skills. And oh how the time passes, weren't we just thinking when - or if - the Factory will be released, and now there's yet another town coming up.
We have seen the intro video, and there's even some battle footage, something that we didn't see until a long time had pass with Factory.
Since this is a question thread, after all:
1) It took around 4 years to make Factory, what kind schedule we should expect for Bulwark?
2) What will be the main features for Bulwark?
3) Factory brought us Wastelands, will we see a fresh made terrain type for the new town?

By the looks of it the Bulwark/Kronverk line-up will be mostly comprised of slow, ground-based, defensive units. 3 2-hex creatures in the video.
Creature sprites still need some polishing I'd say.
I wonder if there are still plans for the "Bombard" siege machine and the "Rune Magic" school as it was planned back in 2008 in case they found a way to blend it in with the existing Magic system.
Back then I imagined Rune Magic to embrace creature-only spells like Disease, Poison, Regeneration, Root Binding, Paralyzation, Petrification, Crushing Blow, Death Stare, Fear, Ageing, (Rust Dragon) Weakening.
For anyone interested, there's information on the original Kronverk concept in the old HotA thread linked on page 1 as well as on heroes3towns.com.

It's not unlikely there will be (entirely) new Snow objects introduced alongside the Bulwark.

Apart from the fact I've never really liked the Cathedral concept (somewhat unoriginal, re-themed evil Castle town) I'm not sure I can take even more new towns. Experience is starting to get diluted.
Maybe it's also time for new player slots (yellow, black, white/celeste/periwinkle/lavender).

Personally, I'd love to see a HOTA take on representing the Dark Elves of Alvar as a town (though I'd take a neutral creature), but in general factions are pretty well represented by now. The last obvious gap in and around Antagarich was Vori/a Norse-ish snow town (leaving aside Stone City/dwarves, but Rampart really complicates doing that as a separate town) and, well, here is Bulwark, with snow elves, "jotunn", mountain apes, hairy elephantidae and kobolds (interesting pick, that).

Yeah Factory looked pretty polished when announced and that took 4 years. Bulwark sprites still looked pretty stiff. I don't entirely know what the slowest part of development is, but I'm expecting a longer turn around than Factory if anything.
Which is fine by me. Like you, I think we have enough towns. Depth is where it is at, like the specialization change, the (hopefully still) upcoming magic overhaul, maybe adding some new map objects or an artifact that adds a third upgrade tier to some units. Little exciting things you don't see every game like that.
But with the current skill and specialization overhaul the game seems to be in an almost finished state. It is just the schools of magic which feel a bit odd, and I don't envy trying to fix that while staying true to the spirit of the game, but I will be watching that with great interest.

Factory's announcement had a pretty faįade, but it was clearly mostly non-functional/for show. Every asset from the Factory reveal except hero portraits and maybe the magic hero appearance was eventually redrawn if not entirely redesigned. Bulwark looks about a year further along in development than Factory did.

I believe the HOTA team went through a refactoring during the early to middle stages of the Factory release. Following a more defined software development life cycle and adding more development power for the reverse engineering. In an aim to eliminate technical debt and reorganize the team to better suite the scale they've reached.
They indicated that the biggest blocker had been the development side. Once the team expanded there they seemed to really hit stride to push Factory over the finish line. I'm assuming during that time the rest of the team went into wider discussions on story boarding for the next release.

So I just checked all the new creature specialists and I must say they have become MUCH stronger:
The best one is Anabel, at level 25 she gets 20/18 = 38 bonus points! (That's what happens when you make a unit with 2 upgrades and insane stats.)
Second place goes to Wystan 15/20 and Derek 20/15 = 35 bonus points.
Third place goes to Ufretin and Piquedram both 17/17 = 34 bonus points.
The 3 worst are:
Henrietta 13/5 = 18 bonus points.
Ignatius 10/10 and Jabarkas 13/7 = 20 bonus points.
Ryland 9/12, Gretchin 13/8 and Casmetra 12/9 = 21 bonus points.
Galthran gets 15/15 = 30 bonus points by the way, with a legion of skels he will also become quite insane...
