I don't think Ukraine will freely return to russian orbit. I just can't believe it might happen after the invasion. Plus we have the fact that pro-russian voters from Crimea won't vote anymore, which shifts the balance to the pro-EU side.
Yes, in short term everything will probably be pro-EU. In the long run however a lot of people will probably see that there is a lot less magic in the EU than advertised. People have short memory. Besides, an association is still far away from full membership so Russia will have time to regain some ground inside the country and particularly in the east. If you don't give the power to some radical right parties, Russia will remain an option - don't forget that not only you but also half of Europe is dependant on it for energy resources for at least 10 more years.

I doubt Ukraine can survive additional lowering of living standards and further privatizations that subsequently diminish future returns to the state forcing tax hikes. We will se a new revolution within 5, maybe 10 years. The country is already so far behind and still hasn't even recovered Soviet levels of living after 20 years.

So The Daily Beast published a set of photos and stated it owns some videos of the snipers preparing to action on 19th and 20th of February. The photos are taken near SBU (Ukrainian successor of KGB), which might prove the snipers couldn't be hired by Maidan leaders. I heard, the new head of SBU will report in Rada on Thursday, so this might be interesting.

That stuff is old news and US media has just been silent about it. Look for it on Liveleak, proof posted like 2 weeks ago.

Dude I told ya just search on Liveleak. You got tons of vids, some arguing for it, a few against it, most just showing clips so you can make ur own mind up.

Here's one of those that argue:
http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=429_1394735459

Just after quick search. There are smaller/more popular videos.

edit: Oh god, I misread your post. I thought you said it said that Euromaiden hired them.

I apologize.

Yeah that's new to me too. Although I can't really see a shred of evidence in that Beast article. I want evidence that any of those people on the roofs had yellow armbands, what connects these alleged SBU troops to the snipers? Nothing...at least nothing that the article can report on.

In fact if you view the video I posted it specifically notes the retreat of the yellow armbanded security forces. Part of the reason why I misread you is because it contradicts all common sense to snipe both the crowd and the police after a deal had been reached.

Aron,

The following video I've seen on the day of action (20th of February)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DQ0LizPKbQM

They clearly have yellow armbands. Though, no green vests here.

Those are not the snipers (on the roof, responsible for the slaughter).. They are aiming into the ground. The sniper laying on the ground is covering the retreat once the firering had already started.

"friendly fire" is one of the best things to do if you wish to incite a riot.

If I was a berkut sniper for instance, I wouldn't shoot people at random, I'd try to take out the leaders instead. not some random idiots used as cannon fodder by klytchko & company.

Yeah. But I wonder if the people really wanted or needed a revolution. That corrupt sleezebag Yanukovitch had agreed to almost all demands.

Someone else wanted it and probably some radicals or mercenaries were happy to oblige.

they only wanted early elections. no more, no less.

But then again, enlist some ultra radical right sector parties, pay some off to shoot people at random or dress up as riot police and blam! instant chaos.

this was all to the "opposition" to get near to the feeding tray. in ex soviet corruption thrives. well, except Belarus where comrade Lukashenko doesn't take sh1t from anyone.

I may be wrong here (haven't doublecheckeD).

But it's weird that Tymoshenkas party (Pro-EU oligarchy) and Svoboda (Radicals) got government positions but nobody from the populist movement of Udar which started everything got any

Soooooo normal.
That boxer leader from Udar should just box them all out.

that's just a shift of powers. they claim they're have different ideologies and plans, yet they're one and the same.

In here we have a pretty nifty system. Our two largest parties are conservative and social democrats. conservatives screw up, socdems take over. and vice versa. it happens all the time here, but not so violently.

recently when they tried to flunk the referendum we're trying to initiate, they actually said they're afraid of a "Lithuanian maidan", even so they showed so much support to klytchko & co little banditism.
That shows their real faces.
there's no "pro-european" or "pro-russian" in here. If commies would come back those guys would be the first to bend the knee. All they care about is getting more and more fat and wealthy. If we take a peek to the presidental residency's of other ex Soviet countries we would see exactly the same as they saw at "yanukovych's estate". more or less so. it's the so called "new russian" syndrome.

I bet that yanukovych right now is sitting at some cozy manor in Rublyovka and throws away half eaten american lobser and half finished expensive cognac bottles for these guys to find

(They're characters from Russian sketch show "Nasha Russia", bums who live in Moscow's wealthiest district, Siphon and Beard)
and just laughs at every bit of "western news" he finds.
