@vitirr,
Don't blow a vein over it, that kind of developer take on H7 production was to be expected. I'm actually surprised they didn't blame the producer more. As for his take on the pros and cons of H7, I find it amusing more than anything. Some things he either believes or doesn't but says them anyway, as you already pointed out. Kinda sugarcoated.
Whatever... who cares at this point.

Fortress is Dwarven town in Ashan. That unit is probably a neutral beastman.

I recall an article on another site (Gamespot, I think?) that claimed that Viviendi claims that they aren't actually buying out Ubisoft and only buying up their stock for stock market purposes... or something.
I'm sure everyone here, like me, is responding to that with "Yeah, uh-uh, sure..."
EDIT: this is the article

The grand elephant in the room is that you can't force "epic events" in the context of a strategy game without sacrificing some of the strategy. The campaigns try to hand-hold the player through their story with scripts and preset events with no regard to how it meshes with Heroes gameplay. The script says we need to make the player walk through a long desert, it doesn't matter that it's gonna make neutrals grow with the player not being able to do a single thing about it. The player needs to take this fort, whether they want to or not, but we won't care if they can have the resources to rebuild it at this point or not, that's a skirmish mechanic and why should we care about those. Oh, how about platforming puzzles? I heard JRPGs do them well, we should put some in our game.
Academy campaign in 7 was the worst tripe to ever bear the name of an official HoMM product.

Not even. Shadow of Death managed to express its story in gameplay, in ways I'm sure you all know well.

You are all forgeting tht Ubi is calling MMH7 a Turn based RPG. So, it is no wonder that they created heavily scripted campaigns.

I'm curious to see how much the random map generator of TbF is going to help things. Personally speaking, I've had more fun on random maps and campaigns with VERY loose premises than ones with heavy scripting or full campaigns. I'd rather have a generic world wherein "this in MY realm and MY heroes" than "I am THIS hero serving THIS realm." It doesn't help when gameplay and story segregation arise - for example, "Fight off a siege by the Holy Falcon Empire, and yet a billion Sylvan heroes are running around on their behalf."

So whats this about the expansion being the last entity in the series? I mean is this speculation or has it really reached the point of no return?

with inferno soundtrack and most of infernos units allready existing in game, i can bet on that they will at least introduce one more expansion to let inferno in.
will Trial by Fire make enough upgrade for vanilla game? will h7 take a proper shape with it? will it be enough to attrack new costumers to make a solid profit? those question will also determine the future of h7x2. if this expansion fails hard, then we will just see second expansion as a simple faction dlc with no big developement jump in it... so the quality of 2nd expansion is the real question here. it will definietly happen at some point but how? as a big expansion or just as a +faction?
