yes partly correct,
however they also were "unable to find a common vision with Team Erwin for the project", (aka they disagreed with Team Erwin's stupid ideas) lol

Actually removing town screens completely, so you only see town development on adventure map - like in Civilization or Age of Wonders series, was Nival idea.

actually actually it was joint Ubisoft-Nival idea signed off on by Team Fabrice and necessitated by Ubisoft low budget penny pinching lol
Dexter said: Back under the previous producer, the game was supposed to have NO town screens at all, so I'm hoping that even if they end up poorly done in Heroes VI, someone will think twice prior to setting the milestones for future installments.
Dexter said: The problem wasn't time but money. Creating a town screen, or a "proper" town screen, costs a lot. The 3D screens made for Heroes V were horribly expensive in terms of design, and since the money was scarce to start with, the town screens had to go. Another similar decision was the lack of 3D models for each artifact in the game. It lowers the costs of producing the game.

More than any other factor, I skipped the original H6 specifically BECAUSE of those horrible town windows. The "proper" townscreens introduced in SoD were... passable. Not great, but not awful. Sanctuary was best. As for H7, it's again "not horrible, just okay." I try to look at them in a "visual guesstimation / maybe-sorta 'this is what it looked like' retelling" way instead of an accurate depiction of the whole town proper.

I actually stopped playing H6 when they patched out the town windows, which I actually liked, without giving us a choice in the options menu. At least with the town windows the adventure map background gave each town a somewhat unique feel, sorta similar to the terrain in H4 influencing the background of the town screens.
i love the concept of the sanctuary faction, but their town screen was actually the one i dislike most.

Of course THIS kind of townscreens could easily be made in 3D by a professional team but it is probably not Warcrafty enough.

That said, I don't think anyone would object to Erwin's mouth being sewn shut.
