I agree with Adseruki. Those laugh lines add a bit more realism and in my opinion a bit of monstrosity.

Necropolis heroes shouldn't be beautiful and young, they should be cadaverous and hideous :

Like I said, classical vampiresses were usually beautiful - Lyla is based on such a concept.
Making every Necropolis hero in accordance to some fan definition is silly.

Nice suggestions and you posess real talent, but I dont have any problems with the faces devs provided. I also like the original Zoltan more, this one reminds me a bit of Locustus of Borg.

I think it should be a bit mixed between good looking and ugly heroes. Ubi's heroes are too "supermodel-like". I would like to see fat lady with creepy eyes, psychotic looking dudes, people with wierd fashion sense and big noses, small chins etc. But also some that look like Ken and Barbie. This way some of them would realy stand out.
But then again... this is minor detail with no effect on gameplay. It would be nice to get more out of those portraits, but priority should be to develop skill wheel better and add new units and factions. But again ... it would be nice if Ubi would put more emphasis on hero portraits, as it adds extra personality to the game.

Then please enlighten me as to what their look should be.
What theme should the animated bodies of dead and decomposing creatures stick to?
Beauty?
Regality?
Rightousness?
Brutality?
Why NOT creepiness/horror?
We already have Dark Elves, Sylvan, and to a lesser extent Sanctuary, Haven, and Academy all with beautiful, regal, and majestic aesthetics/units.
Why do corpses need to be attractive?.
Even Stronghold has Harpies and Centaurs portrayed as elegant creatures.
This game has a serious lack of monstrosity and an over-abundance of beauty.
There is no need to remake Necropolis in a new "sexy" version of itself.
Please go to Twilight and True Blood for all of you necrophiliac desires.
Leave us one last bastion of awesomely creepy and horrific units, one last haven for all of the creatures that have haunted our imagination and lurked in the dark recesses of our mind since the dawn of time.

A society is composed off all kind of people, not just one kind and a society where inmortality and renovation of the self is possible, its bound to have someone who looks good. Beautiful females are not even new to Necropolis, given Septienna, Vidomina, Reeva, Lamentia, Lucretia, Ornella and Ludmilla's existance. I'm not saying those should be the standard, but the truth is overall they arent, perhaps excepting H6 depending of your tastes, since its stuck to hard to its "grey humans" schtick but i'd consider the feeling of lack of diversity that H6 necro tavern heroes have a bigger issue than beauty of creepiness.
From the metaperspective, its good having a hero cast that ranges from beautiful to ugly/disgusting since some people like me pick heroes based on their looks, not on how they play. Some day i might feel like playing with someone ravaged like Moanderwhile others someone beautiful like Lucretia, depending of whatever story i have in my mind.
Going by Stevie's logic, H4 Death demon heroes would be the ideal necropolis heroes since those are the ones who most of us would agree that look "frightening and repulsive" and do it generally, yet no one is clamouring for that.
That reminds me i want Ash back. The H4 deciption was one of my favorite portraits of the franchise.

Ah I see.
I mistook your comment as saying that beauty was superior overall.
I agree that variety in heroes is good as long as it is a nice mixture i.e. not a 90/10 split as it was in MMH6. As far as I remember (and I am probably mistaken) there was only one Hero that was not a vampire/lich in the vanilla game, Moander.
I was more commenting on the overall Necro aesthetic, which I personally viewed as severely lacking in the horror/creepy pre Lich and Vampire redesign and still have my doubts on.
I am still hoping that we will get to play the Necro campaign as someone who actually looks undead as opposed to Anastasia, Ludmilla or Vein.

By 'beautiful' you mean 'not a partly decomposed mess', right?

Stevie said: The sinister and creepy should be trademarks of Necropolis. When an undead hero looks frightening and repulsive, that's when you know you got it right.
While I agree with that, Necropolis isn't a faction in Heroes7.
Your confusion probably stems from the fact that we have Arachnopolis in Heroes7, which revolves around bhuddist monks who are striving for perfect eternal life. While originally proclaimed to be Necropolis, Arachnopolis follows a different ethos and has different ambitions. It makes sense they want to achieve that with some form of beauty.
