I think root snake in core creature line-up will be overpowered. I imagine it is something like serpent flies from H3 fortress. Fast unit and formidable archer...no training wheels for sylvan again!
They should be equal to other factions not OP.

Um, how can a SNAKE ba an archer? It will just be a snake, and an awesome one at that.

Because you know, that was old universe where factions were a thematic mixes of random creatures. Now that factions are closer to races, some things just doesn't make sense. Not because it doesn't make sense to us, but because Ubisoft is inconsistent with their choices and which units belong to which faction.

I wasn't around then, but i think that the fairy/dryad "similrity is blown out of proportion because of the voting.

but you can't say elves and pheonix can not in one race. ubisoft never said that, they put pheonix in balance not to tell you guys don't choose balance, they don't think it is wrong.
and pheonixes in many culture can belong to forests too, slavic£¬Chinese, etc.in chinese myth, pheonixes dwell on a giant sacred tree.

Exactly this.
Phoenix obviously doesn't work with Elves. The only reason for it getting included is because of fans' nostalgia for that particular creature. Besides that, nothing. It doesn't fit the faction nor it's lore in the slightest. I think they would fit very well with Academy myself, but even better had as neutral creatures. But not with Elves, that's just retarded.

Well, yeah, every forest needs a good fire once in a while, otherwise new saplings wouldn't grow due to the shadow of big trees, and the forest would die Besides, ashes are good fertilizers
