You have to remember that a huge part of players were born after H2 was released... And given the thread in H4 axeoth forum boom as of late with people praising heroes 4 I'd rather see them associate with H4 than H2.
But we both have reasons. H2+H4>H3 so far it seems.

i really think putin the devil votes for the phoenixes. i am pretty sure about that!
I voted for the 2nd one because I dont want treant as a champion. Ever. Unless it is a shooter and not slow.

Yeah I fell they gutted the first option by describing it as extremely defensive one. People naturally prefer more balanced or offensive styles for elven factions, especially Sylvan.

TDL said: That said, NO1 is my personal opinion, but I'd rather see elves be more balanced than slow and sturdy. IMO if you decide to include elves, their faction should be nimble, swift, with some backup tanks (treants in h5, phoenixes/griffins in h4) and I do not for one want to see another tank champion unit in a million years...
This
A slow Sylvan with Treants and Dryads healing each other is going to offer slow and boring gameplay. With Haven and Necropolis on the table, we don't need more. Sylvan (and its predecessors) always shone by fast creatures and deadly shooters, it'd be a shame to vote #1 just because of Unicorns.

yeah ok it's not flashy or direct like a dragon. but it offers a more strategic gameplay. why would you want two champions that are actuall the same? meaning offensive?

Two reasons:
1. Treants should never ever be a champion unit.
2. People who first played h3 will choose unicorns, people who first player h2 will choose phoenixes...
Fixed that for you
War. we have a guy with a twohander as champion, you want a 10+m high walking tree be an elite.. Teants fit champion more then dragons on some cases IMHO.

That is nothing bad. It is not leading by large (only 8%), so it is quite possible that Strength of the Forest will outscore it by the end of the week, if not day
I hope you're right
I hope you're not.
The Dryad-Treant combo on Strength and Fury is HORRIBLE game design. The Dryad isn't optional and the Treant is, which means that if you want to optimize Dryad's cost you will have to pick Treants over Dragons (and also wait around 2 weeks to start optimizing them even if you pick Treants). I don't like that they make you focus on the synergy between 2 specific units.
Earth's Balance is REALLY STRONG. Half of that army can entangle and 4 units can attack without retaliation (3 of them without even getting closer) which makes it really hard for opponents to hurt you as the key melee guys will be entangled and won't respond to your attacks.
People that doesn't like Phoenixes can always ignore them as they're champions and champions are a binary choice. People who likes Treants should pick this option too as you can pick them WITHOUT removing the Dragons from your army. Win-win.

If it would help to get rid of the pheonix.. I would change my vote, for now Strenght of the Forest is the higher one, but if the odds change.

Because I adored nature's champion lineup in heroes 4. The choice between faerie dragons and phoenixes was simply put the best alternative. Since no other game had a choice between two champions for strategic formation (except for upgrades, which still follow a linear equation), I use it as a basis. Phoenixes with Faerie Dragons was essentially aggressive/tank/flyer vs passive aggressive/magic resistant/aoe+high damage dealer... You still had two aggressive units to choose from.
Also, H6 already proved that champions need to be stronger as cores will overwhelm them by the endgame. And just making them more tanky won't do. You need to manage aggression with that.
If you want a better example, look @ hydras vs black dragons in heroes 4. It will be pretty much the same. Totally screwed.

slow gamepay means strategic gameplay that leaves you time to weaken your opponents.
some opponents might be quicker and a little sturdier than usual. if you are quick but not sturdy you might not be able to withstand them.
but if you are sturdy and have time to weaken them you will have an advanage!
plus you can choose a dragon. have the diversity of a slow sturdy champion or an offensive one. phoenix AND dragon do not make sense! they both seem offensive units!

Do you expect Ubi's Phoenixes to be like in Heroes 2 ?? I'd say they'll make it BLUE like in Heroes VI. We can't see fire in the forest, and Ubi will not make this mistake. And the bird lovers will be sad when the game comes out with a "Moon Phoenix" .
P.S. Vote for Strength of the Forest folks !! We can't let the classic Unicorn out of Sylvan

@ChrisD1: It seems we already have 2 slow factions (Haven, Necropolis), no need to add more. Besides, Sylvan balanced option relies a lot on entangling, which isn't a Erwan 'rush now, think later' approach either
