the sun damaged them? Where does it say that.
Idk if they can turn others, but their blood is Namtaru venom so they should. And they do drink blood.

Dracula (let's go with this, as most people think vampire should be based on this character, except Rakshasha, who I presume would like "evil spirit" type vampires from mythology), never fought in a battle. He attacked unarmored weak oponent in their sleep, using deception and subterfuge. He can also transform to bat or wolf, in which case sword is useless.
It's also a horror story rather than military one. If Dracula would encounter fully armed proffesional soldier, he would probably flee, as he fled before couple of armed and prepared civilians. Not to mention, he's supposed to be Vlad Tepes (there are hints of this only tho), which means he probably owns several sets of good plate armor, aswell as know how to fight with every weapon you can name. The historical count did go into battle armed to the teeth, and probably on horse. Dracula is also a count, which makes him part of aristocracy, which carried weapons on them often.
If hypothetically, Dracula would go into battle, he would most likely equip armor, and weapon, and even mount a horse.
Gear or weapons or clothing dosen't make a vampire. Characteristics do. And unfortunatly most of Dracula's characteristics are completly useless in open field battle.
I AM therefore more in favour of monstrous type of vampire. Problem is none of them are monstous. "Blood monster" is as much Twilight as you can get. Vampires in Twilight don't carry swords lol.
To say that Vampire would cease to be "proper" because of the sword, is THE EXACT SAME THING, as to say policemen with AK-47 is not a policemen. He can still be a police officer, just veary dangerous one  . Policemen is not a title determined by a weapon, but is an occupation, that person does.
The way I see thse Vampire vote is this: 2 guys and one girl that project me a messege to go out with them. That is what their manerism, and clothing suggests.

I voted for the blood monster.
I liked the idea of the lady, too , but I dislike armored vampires , no matter the gender...
Now, I know blood monster might have been depicted as intelligent -even aristocratic - beings elsewere. But, concerning the design and ingame motion, I just hope Ubidon't don't give us a H6 ghoul snow with life drain ability... 
I mean, ok, a blood monster should be fierce and maybe dressed in the rugs left by its own clothing tearing up due to the uncontrolled blood thirst, maybe, but nothing resembling the looks of a mindless ghoul.
For a quick guide, Ubidon't please check the "Blaahhh!"...

I just wished they weren't such anti HOMM3 people there at the ASHAN studios...
HOMM3 bald, scary, realistic, horrible, non-sword, non-female, non-pretty, did I already said AWESOME nosferatu-like vampires are perfect, not need to Twilight-terrorize the vampire, or put some horrible warcraft-stuff on them.
I like blizzard for starcraft and diablo, but man, did Warcaft RUIN the reputation of MANY monsters...
Wyverns that look more like manticores
Minotaurs that are *******
Vampires that are pretty people that are dependent on swords...
Elf Species in more variety than colors of the world...
I hate warcraft!

My vote difinitely went to the Blood Monster. It reminds me of good, old classic vampires' look who are not gentle nobles with ability to suck blood and fall in love in non-vampiric girls (as the current trend seems to go...).
Blood Monster (according to the description) is truly an evil creature. Leaving his fake life of an aristocrat he filled his noble-like pride with bloodlust, viciousness and wildness. I really, really enjoyed the fact that he didn't have a sword in his hands. I didn't like that idea much, although it wasn't that annoying for me either when I played HoMM5.
This one seems as a fine mix of HoMM3&4 vampires, mixing brutality with elegance.
This post would not be complete without writing why I didn't choose 1st or 2nd proposition.
The Vampire Knight - as I have already said - has a sword while I see "bare claws" superior to swords in the topic of vampires. However it would not be a big problem, if it was not looking like death knight Arthas Menethil from Warcraft universe. This sketch could be fine if it was about a different creature, but as a vampire it's not appealing to me.
The Night Lady would be good, I don't mind having a female vampire. But again, she is wielding a sword (while in my oppinion vampires' claws > swords or sabres). What's more, her armour seems to be uncomfortable and not-vampire-like.
I really hope that the Blood Monster will win.
