When does the slowdown occur - your turn, AI turn or randomly?
It is possible to have some slowdown at begining of turn when the Homm5.5 scripts are executed.

What is the RPM speed of your hard drive?

I don't think this is related to scripts or MMH5.5 in general, the intervals do not relate to script engine activity.

Usually HD is the bottleneck in modern computers. Cause everything else in your configuration seems to be just fine.

Slow downs occur all times.
During AI turns it's been always worse so for me such thing is "normal" but when I play (my turn) the slow downs, hiccups are new thing.

My HDD speed is 5400 RPM but and I do have some issues with it, plan to change it for SSD

BUT

there is no problems at another games, I mean example Worms, Civil flight simulators (very, very RAM, CPU, GPU hungry, a lot of data from disk being loaded).

As I have 8 GB RAM, I have 6 GB left to use. Firefox RAMDisk uses 1 GB, so for everything else 5 GB clear RAM.
I would do a small test - put biggest PAK files (or you decide which ones) into RAM and force game to load from it - just another RAM disk.
The question is if game can load some files from other path.

This test would eliminate or confirm once for all any disk related problems to the game's slow downs.

You should remove the EE-...pak files from your data folder, but the exe files from the standalone AI mod are not a problem, the AIProcess.exe file should not be removed.

Multiplayer maps are perfectly playable in singleplayer.

Power of Dragons was not included with this mod.

In order to fully explore MMH5.5 features, I recommend to read the ARMG manual and play random maps as only those maps can contain all new objects and artifacts and also allow for longer and more epic games then was possible in original game.

I will do as you advise
I found no EE...pak files, so I must have cleared them out.
I think I did uninstalled the AI mod previously.
It was some time before I installed your mod; I played a little of the campaign vanilla.

Thank you magnomagus

Just for the reference, do you scroll the view with the mouse cursor?
My framerate drops to 30 when I scroll to the bottom-right with the cursor.

Go to options and select the box that say "Use Hardware cursor" this will fix the issue to some extent.

I disabled hardware cursor and it helped a bit, but arrow is quite small

I made test. I put everything (whole game directory) into RAMDisk and ran exe from it.
I see improvements.

I made other test and put also whole game into USB stick (Patriot 16 GB, very fast).
I know USB 2.0 port has limitations of the ~30MBs and it is close to HDD readwrite capability but somehow it seems USB stick is faster. I see less hickups, slowdowns.
It is quite weird as IMHO whole most important things should load into RAM memory to minimize HDD usage. Then even broken HDD wouldn't make problems.
Perhaps faster game is my imagination as I play quite small original ToE  campaign mission.

Anyway it is better for now, perhaps it will be worse later. Anyway I want to grab *.cfg file and edit it a bit. Is there some explanation what values inside represent?

Run S.M.A.R.T. diagnostic from your HDD vendors website

For example, Western Digital (http://download.wdc.com/windlg/WinDlg_v1_29.zip) or Seagate (http://www.seagate.com/files/www-content/support-content/downloads/seatools/_shared/downloads/SeaToolsforWindowsSetup.exe). Could be a dying hdd which requiers immidiate backup before it goes boom totally.

Also check with resource monitor (start typing resource monitor in start menu for windows vista and newer) to see ram/cpu usage.

You may want to check with process explorer what eats your resources in the background (and activate virus total check to see if any of the process is perhaps malicious - https://download.sysinternals.com/files/processexplorer.zip - extract, run the exe, go to options drop down menu, check veirify image signatures and in virus total check Check Virus Total com and, of course, agree with terms and conditions)

Also see if there is any thermal throttling with gpu via https://www.techpowerup.com/downloads/2571/techpowerup-gpu-z-v0-8-6/ )

Best of luck

Forsberg, how many save games do you have?

Try something for me - remove all savegames (hotseat, LAN, Single player) except the current one  and restart the exe. do you see any improvement?

As this is the most weird forum script I've ever seen I find it hard to reply to certain post so I don't quote

I am going to make tests - so far SMART said nothing wrong. I didn't look only for "green" icon "OK" but quickly analyzed values. According to them my HDD is not dying so far.
No viruses and malware in background.

I enable Sysinternals's ProcessExplorer and ProcessMonitor together with GPU-Z and CPU-Z to see any throttling.
Windows Performance Analyzer is the last thing to do. This enormous analysis tool is very complicated to use it now.

@dredknight - I had 75 saves, I deleted all of them except last 3. I will see if it helps, I only know the "save menu" appears in short time, not waiting 3 seconds

Is this game even optimized for 2 cores, not saying about 4 because even now it is rare

That what I have thought

I think I may be closer to the issue.
I monitored GPU activity and weirdly it stays on low profile if I may call it that.
My GT 520MX works (in theory) at default specs from manufacturer:

GPU Clock: 900 MHz
Shader Clock: 1800 MHz
Memory Clock: 900 MHz
1800 MHz effective

But when I play Heroes, the GPU-Z says graphics card is just at

I hope GPU-Z shows real values, but it is weird why card would work at lower speed in Heroes? I have not changed anything in nVidia panel, there is no option for such change anyway.

************************
OK I think I have found the main issue - integrated card is being used instead of dedicated high speed one.
I had to revert nVidia Panel, delete whole settings and start everything from scratch.
I added H5.5 exe and now it uses dedicated GPU.
Performance is better, but don't know how much better in large battles.
I changed settings to maximum and is OK.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I recently checked out this thread and thank you for this fantastic project which improves Heroes V which I already love compared to other series.

I decided to give it a try yesterday and encountered a problem. I have not installed any mods on this game before.

What I did:
1. Downloaded RC5a package.
2. Installed it in my Heroes V directory.
3. Tried launching MM5.5 (64-bit).

My problem is DB error. Other than checking for missing creatures (#92 onward), nothing else happened. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling three times, but the same problem persists.

May I know what the real issue is? Thanks.

Not sure if it is installed properly, but playing the game in version 3.1 has been no problem for me.

Do you actually have Tribes of the East? unexpanded H5 has indeed 92 creatures.

Should I try installing it in folder "bina2"?

Edit: Thank you for reminding about the actual folder where Tribes of the East .exe file is placed. Installing it in the folder indeed is a success. Thanks!

Just to let you know we hit the brick with Ubisoft :/.

They dont have a policy to share code of their products outside the company. Also the code for Heroes 5 is shared between them and Nival so even if they said yes it would mean quite some more administrative work for them to arrange it. More or less nothing new but at least we know it officially.
