Yes. Now that sounds nice And that dreadful area of control, can it be disabled?

Not sure, gotta check, but most probably not, it's too rooted in other game mechanics like governor and skills.

Antalyan said: It is really boring if you can build everything you like everytime you wish.
I don't think there was ever a Heroes game that allowed for that. You always had building prerequisites. It's true that Heroes 3 streamlined it for the generic buildings (Town Hall line for instance), but creature dwellings usually had different prerequisites. To name two:
Haven
Guardhouse (tier 1): requires a Fort
Archer's Tower (tier 2): requires a Guardhouse
Griffin Tower (tier 3): requires Barracks (which is tier 4!)
Barracks (tier 4): requires Guardhouse, Blacksmith
Monastery (tier 5): requires Barracks, Mage Guild Level 1
Training Grouns (tier 6): requires Stables (which requires Barracks)
Portal of Glory (tier 7): requires Monastery
Stronghold
Goblin Barracks (tier 1): requires a Fort
Wolf Pen (tier 2): requires Goblin Barracks
Orc Tower (tier 3): requires Goblin Barracks
Ogre Fort (tier 4): requires Orc Tower
Cliff Nest (tier 5): requires Wolf Pen
Cyclops Cave (tier 6): requires Ogre Fort
Behemoth Lair (tier 7): requires Cliff Nest
The buildup is quite different, which also means either faction will get access to certain tiers at different times. Assuming a Fort is present, Haven gets access to tier 4 units on day 3, while Stronghold has to wait at least a day longer. But it can get a Cliff Nest on day 3 instead, which is tier 5 already. And the next day, day 4, it can even build tier 7 already, while Haven has to wait till at least day 6 before they can start to field Angels. Provided resources are available of course.
And while the Haven buildup is fairly linear, with a few short branches, it requires non-dwelling buildings to fully develop the dwellings up to tier 7. In contrast, Stronghold has two main branches, starting off of the Wolf Pen and not requiring any non-dwelling buildings at all. That means that Stronghold is faster with fielding its army than Haven. But given the two branches, Stronghold players will have to choose one branch over another, especially since both require a load of Crystals to finish. It's a major difference between the factions, which heavily influences the faction opening playstyle.

Yes! This effect is already in game in one af the dark spells, you can change it a bit and use for ability

I kinnda like those town levels. At least they prevent from going straight to 7th tier unit in the first two weeks. Basically, in Heroes III, you can buy behemoths in the first week playing the map, and it is not that much costly. And that's not what one could call fair, when other factions require more structure prerequisites.

Keep in mind that all factions could have their Tier 7 dwelling up by latest start of week 2. No faction had to wait much longer than that - all, of course, provided that resources are available to keep building. The format was faster in that respect, since in Heroes 7 you needed at least some three weeks before Champion Tier becomes available. At the same time, this mellows down the faction differences, which makes them quite similar in feeling.

All factions eventually will have a champion. It s not the time they will have it that will differrentiate them, but the way there.
A sylvan hero will have more spells(if a might hero then at least some spells) while a stronghold hero will boast a better army till the champion comes etc etc. A random example but this ssystem is just as enjoyable. And again it s a matter of personal preference. I can argue about the older system all day and still someone would like it. No one is right,no one is wrong bla bla bla.

This is turning into a global remake of the whole game rather than a plain mod
Not that it's bad, it is just way too much work, especially before the expansion which we don;t know what might be changed.
Although, kudos to you guys.

If I were you I would probably also wait for expansion, otherwise, you will have a lot of things to change after it because everybody will install 2.0.
Btw. Regarding the alternative upgrades, I might have missed something but why don't you simply make these upgrades for the units which have no alternative choice in the towntree?

I doubt they will change base classes, if not, perhaps only the skills will need some re-adjustments (though I doubt that too). Also, thanks, we do this because Ashan is a taint upon heroes series and must be purged.

Only champs got alternative choice, so that's only -2 upgrades from a faction, still a lot. Even giving 2 extra upgrades + 1 extra creature is a lot of work to do.

Though, i will say again that i would prefer the idea of having alternate units instead of alternate upgrades. Though i guess that 3rd upgrades and alternate upgrades might be easier?
I mean, AD managed to add at least 2-3 more units in each faction as alternate units.

Making an alternate unit is easier than making an alternate upgrade. Like one's 2 clicks instead of 3 Also not a big fan of alternate creatures, I didn't like the h4 system and I'd rather have extra stuff, not that I play h7

I thought I had forgotten something to add
Sorry, I meant the units which have no alternative dwelling adding bonuses +x growth.
So on the haven example: sentinels and cuirassiers should get an alternative upgrade.

Yeah, that may work, still I don't know which buildings got growth boosters and which not, so I will have to check how many there are.
