In fact I've waiting for HOTA to do the remake of magic to make and try to repopularize open templates.
Though I may make it before that since it seems that remake never gonna happen.

Don't forget about portals and Subterranean Gates... Even I that played about a dozen maps on MP was caught like that once and I can recall several times where top players saw their plans frustrated because of it.
If you don't want to build the Griffins Tower you can always upgrade the ones that came with heroes at an Hill Fort but a Marksman has only speed 6 and a cavalier 7, that delays your progress more then build and upgrade a level three dwelling week two.

New stuff are always welcomed, and they makes the game more interesting to play (after 20 years of playing the same thing).
Does anyone know when the new Factory Town will be available to play?

Actually now I like the idea very much! You cleverly dodged the mine by allowing creatures to only stand on the edge tiles.

I think this would be a fine item, but I wonder how it would graphicially look like, if creatures are standing on obstacles and on the Force Field. But as a new mechanic and artifact, I like it as I said. I think the Major slot is also now justified. I think it would need to be at least relic (if not combination artifact), if it allowed creatures to go through castle walls.

I think questions like these suit better for Hota main thread, but since you asked here, I might as well answer:

No, currently nobody has the exact date, I think you would have heard about it, if such plans were made public.

Currently, they have promised news during this month, "if everything goes as they're planning."

Docent said somewhere that the release of Factory shouldn't be expected sooner than Ferbruary or March, but it wouldn't be first time if they're too optimistic about these things. Wasteland update was released around 6 months later than it was first planned, and the release of 1.5 patch few years ago was pushed by an entire year. So be patient, these things take time.

I'm currently hoping they would release it before end of May, as they have said many times that the summer isn't the most productive time among the team, as everyone is rightfully on vacation. If the release doesn't happen then, I think they're going to wait until the end of year again.

I know it's boring to wait, but good thing to keep in mind is that work is been done, and there are no signs of they abadoning the project, which is usually the thing when talking about fan-made content.

I didn't thought about this in the first place. No, walls definately would be too broken, but passing through the gatehouse bridge when it's pulled up would be interesting I think. Althrough without such a feature the item would be good aswell, in the major version I mean.

Thanks for the reply. To be honest, I didn't even knew it was something in the progress, by mistake I came across a YouTube video and saw the new Town, it got me very excited! I find my self playing with the same 3-4 towns over and over again, a new one will be defiantly welcomed, in order to diversify the game a bit.
Can't wait for it to be released, and for any new stuff! So excited

On many templates you will have multiple churchyards in your staring zone and the best thing to do is to loot them using cheap tactics. The problem is that it takes too much time and is not fun to do.

I have probably mentioned it before, but please make an easier way to change hero specialties and specialty icons.
Some specialties are still completely useless, like Melodias Fortune, Ulands and Astras Cure and Zilares Forgetfulness.

I never really understood idea behind the Churhyards. It's nice that they created low level creature banks, but since the beginning churchyards have been easily exploitable, even if one didn't pull of the the strategies like shown in the video.

I think the problem is that they're too consistant - players know,that with a spesific setup, they can take the rewards with no loses at all.

Suggestion: remove Churchyards from random maps, make new objective.
Dark Woods (or whatever, really) Player must fight against Dendroid Guards, mby stacks of Dendroid Soldiers could also also be mixed there as well. They would be divided into 6 stacks just like Zombies are now. If the player would try any cheap tactics, they could easily be crushed, since a random moral proc would mean they would like get hit sooner or later, hit would make them stop to their tracks, and suddenly the whole plan would be ruined.

Just because the total catastrophe could be a possibility, players would likely stop trying to exploit them with just fast shooters, since it would not be a consistant strategy.

The game would suck with everything which is only "good" to pick from. In the end the least good of the good would still suck in comparison to the other and be the worst, so what would be the point?

I was thinking the same yesterday.
If you want to make a map with several opponents there aren't enough GOOD heroes to spread along the spectrum. For instance, yesterday I gave Orrin to Tower but then what is left for Castle? Prayer and Ballista specialist? So, in the end Tower got a barbarian (Crag) and a knight and Castle a beastmaster and a witch (Tazar and Andra). Others, like Conflux, got even more screwed...

It's hard to say how much I miss the simplicity of BAI Leaders when editing a map.

Lava should get a 25% movement penalty and Wayfaring boots should reduce the penalties by 50% (relative) or something instead of setting to 0.

No Wayfarer's Boots works exactly like Expert Pathfinding, which is exactly why I dislike them, same as Angel Wings and Wizard's Well.

Wayfarer's Boots are cool, dunno what are you talking about. lol The feature that the main hero does not need to waste a secondary skill over pathfinding is great, especially on singleplayer. Moreover they cooperate with the Boots of Speed, as these need to be active only at the end of the turn, meanwhile the Wayfarer's are being used throughout it.
What's wrong with the Wizard's well and Angel wings anyways?
