We need 2 more secondary skill slots.

With addition of Interference and making more skills be good, it becomes clear that 8 skills is just not enough. Especially given how many of them are "must have"

Pls add 2 more skill slots.

Please don't. 1.7.2. introduced the potential for new worthwhile hero builds, adding to variation and replayability. More skill slots would just again bring down the number of unique builds. It's a good thing when there a more "must-have" skills than slots.

I couldn't agree more with you, gatecrasher. I don't get why some people want to have every hero built equally and perfect. Where's the fun in that?

Hear hear.

Making actual decisions between two great exclusive options is where fun comes in.

If you wanted to have "perfect skills", you would probably need 12-14 skills, so 10 would be fine imo.

A more ideal situation was if we could choose 6, 8, 10 or 12 skills depending on map size for example, but then we need 3 new types of graphic interfaces for that.

Making decision between two terrible options is even better.

My guesses, between the lines maybe the HotA team wants to add the second city for each terrain,so:
-Grass for Castle and Rampart
-Snow for Tower and Bulwark/Kronwerk
-Swamp for Fortress and Cove
-Rough for Stronghold and New Stronghold?:https://heroes3towns.com/?town=citadel&ver=&page=arts
-Subterranean for Dungeon and Asylum?:https://heroes3towns.com/?town=asylum&ver=&page=arts
-Lava for Inferno and?
-Dirt for Necropolis and Cathedral?
-Highland for Conflux and?
-Wasteland for Factory and?

What do you think, could it be feasible?

Sure and fair enough. Apart from the noisy creature graphics I can't cope with and sterile town screens there's a lot to rejoice over. Thanks for reinvigorating the franchise, for hanging around here and for onboarding Heroes Orchestra.

Now back to HotA, is there a way for the Luna exploit to be cut down at least? Could a stack be prevented from entering the Fire Wall if the stack will die (in one blow) as a result and no shooter is present?
Making the Fire Wall act like Force Field in this case.

Not to derail, but how are the town screens sterile? They're literally full of motion, up to and including having actual things moving around outside for the first time since Heroes 1. Plus, have you seen the 3D exploration of the Dungeon from the New Years video? Not liking an art style is fine, but that seems like a disingenuous complaint.

There arent more unique builds, its an illusion. The best build is still the same as there are too many must-have skills in this game.

Adding 2 more slots makes it that you actually get to pick between more niche skills after you take the must haves.

That increases build diversity not decreases.

Add an option to specify how long a player can survive without a town to the map editor.

Could we change the random neutral creature strenght slider at the beginning of the game.

Weak could be the same as old standard, Standard could be hard and hard should be 2x in creature strength. I never ever used "weak" option in my life.

Also could we get less portals in random map generated? Less dragon utopias as well.(I wouldn't mind a slider though)

A treasury slider like the monster slider could have been nice (Affecting number of treasuries(especially dragon utopias), number of towns and resources lying around)

thanks for keeping this wonderful game vividly alive!

my gut feeling is the current war-machine skills are a bit OP. huge buff during battle, but still one challenge unsolved if the war-machine killed the hero practically lost one skill until finds a (matching) blacksmith.

can we add a "repair" option in hero interface? e.g. once you have the First Aid, your destroyed tent will still show up in hero's interface outside of battle, and can be required for next battle. to add some restriction, a repair event will cost movement points or extra resource compared to buying again from blacksmith. only heroes with necessary skill can perform repair. this will greatly increase flexibility of these skills

Mermaid!

Just heard from the HotA crew interview that they are planning on making mermaid a neutral creature. Here i happen to have given some thoughts on this previously and hope to share and discuss!

As we removed halfling from neutral to factory, I think we can considering put mermaid tier 1, but a strong and useful tier 1.

To make mermaid useful, mermaid can cast the cure spell (power=#mermaids divided by 10, round up) to other units, maybe 3 times max in a battle. This is similar to pearl priestess in heroes 6 and can help get rid of negative spell from your enemy.

In terms of stats, as a strong tier 1 creature, mermaid can be:
Attack 5, defense 5, damage 1-4, hp 10, speed 5. something like that.

The important part is that I am thinking also making an adventure map object about mermaid. No not the mermaid that give you luck on the sea. but something i call mermaid cliff, home of mermaids, and when your hero visit it, the resident mermaid will ask you a multiple choice question that is directly from tavern/den of thieves. e.g. who has the highest income, or who has the strongest army. You make your best guess based on what you know. If correct, you can be rewarded by 10 to 30 mermaids joining you. the exact number depends on the level where your question appear in tavern. the lower your question is, the more towns you need to reveal it in tavern, and the more mermaid you can get with the right answer. the level of the question is random so you will need to risk. If you give a wrong answer, then you will be attacked by some gorgon or a large number (maybe 300) mermaids. You can still get some mermaids joining after defeating them, and maybe get the correct answer before the attack so you will not get nothing visiting it.

This is to make more use of the tavern intel and fit that into the gameplay and it's probably fun. Cove can be better at this game than other towns because of the thieves guild, but I think cove is supposed to know better about sea creatures like mermaids.

The inspiration is the story of Thessalonike of Macedon. In it, after the death of Alexander the great, his sister turned into a mermaid and always asks people she encounter on the sea if Alexander still leads the strongest army. If anyone dares to say he does not, she will further turn into gorgon and attack them.

Wow, that's a very cool idea Reminds me a bit the sphinxes from HoMM2.

PS Another type of question: under what kind of terrain the grail is hidden

After playing the new version a bit, there is some feedback about the changes in the skills:

- the first aid now is a bit too strong (at least in factions, where you can buy the tent). I'm fine with fixing the bone fractures in skeletons, patching zombies, even giving a lifting to a tired wight, but the mechanical units do not make sense! IMHO the mechanical units shouldn't be affected by the tent. The skill would be still powerful, but more "lore-friendly".

- the artillery still sucks — at least there should be a reason to have a ballista instead of a cannon.

- the new pathfinding is great, but now the logistics nerfed in the previous version looks a bit sad. I would bring some power to the logistics.
