Nik stated a few times, that changes aren't off the table but he told us nothing real about it. Sure is: the team talked a lot about balance, spells and skills, they brainstormed a lot and thought a lot about that stuff (see first post in this thread)

My guess is -> we will see changes in the future, latest, when PvP, ranking and a lobby is implemented in HotA 1.5.0 + HD Mod maybe a 'lil later aswell.

Because they are the only ranged unit in the faction. I don't know that the special abilities of the other units makes up for the sluggishness of the faction as a whole.
And having that extra shot would make fortress a lot more appealing at the beginning of the match.

Yeah, for those who play XL+ random maps. Players who play S and M sixe random map have Wyverns at the beginning of third day

Fortress may seem bad, but it was actually seen as one the better towns in SOD. I don't know it's exact rate in Hota, but it was possibly seen as a well-balanced town by Hota team, since very little was changes were made; only starting armies were a bit increased.

I think frotress is good balanced as it is right now. Buffing too many things is not a good idea imo. Instead orientating on a balanced town and buffing/nerfing other things to be balanced too.

I think this game need 2 several changes apart of magic balance.

One, the most important is angels and wyverns and cyclops and titans.... it is not logic when you go for a batlle and everyone have wyverns or angwls.. that creatures is for your town? no.... apart of this is heroes.. if you play with any town you can't have a barbarian if you don't play strongol. this game was designed and blanced to play each town with his heroes, not only barbarians or beeast.. etc

What I would like most are units dependant on surrounding terrain/towns... Meaning: that Giant-Factory housing (where you get giants) only in snow biome with Tower town nearby. Snakefly-Tree only in swamp near fortress e.g., Griffon Convensatory only near castle.

why do you think it is not ok having giants in an castle army? if you only have the same units from your hometown in your army, things like leadership become less important. i like mixing up my army with other species, it a cool thing imo

It's not only cool, it's crucial if you want to hold a candle against any halfway decent opponent.

But I think P4R4D0X0N was talking about creature bank distribution. Isn't that dependent on the map template?

I don't like titans on your castle army because online games are angels, wyverns and cyclops vs angels, wyverns and cyclops. Heroes 3 not would be this.

Nah it works out in case of mixing up, but it fits better together with the theme of surrounding area... imho. Anyway, the banks was created to support some towns ingame, while other downs don't need support, at least thats what an hota official said about this topic. I don't think we'll see any creature banks in near future.

Don't forget about Firebirds, we also can get plenty of them.

I agree, that Griffin Conservatory, Dragonfly Hives, etc. banks should match terrain or faction.

For Inferno I know we can harvest demons, but maybe we would get Efreets or Pit Fiends?

There is also a bank for Cove giving Sea Serpents.
Castle and Cove definitely don't need that support though.
Also some towns missing banks and some getting 6th and some 7th level units creates imbalance imo.

RMG puts so many different creature banks in one area that if you aren't carefull you end-up with -3 of moral, 8 cyclops, 4 angels, 2 firebrids and 20 wyverins. I don't get Pirate Caves unless I put them on the map, same for the Ivory Towers and the last ones would be nice.
I love this banks and would also like one of efreet or devils but they need to be placed together somehow, making them all dependent on terrain seams a good idea to me.
Also this thing about a large variety of banks may screw AI too. I have fought battles where they have a quite large army but is like the above and I have something like 12 angels and some Witches or a pack of Enchanters. Guess who wins?

Did you see any of these Cove banks ingame? I haven't for a good reason called balance... they are implemented, yeah and nik also said it happend without a proper reason. As for Griffon Conversatory they are quite rare...

To be honest I almost never play random maps, so I don't really know how often each bank appears.
I do know that Castle and Cove have one though and Rampart and the evil towns don't have any.
Tower also got both a bank and a Genie Lamp in HotA.
