I know that, if I was in shield wall I would prefer to have a gay man that loved me like Achilles loved Patroclus at my right and another at my left...

Yet there are plenty of gays that serve in the military. Your claim is totally false. So gays are mentally too weak to serve in the military eh? Or did you mean that they are also physically weak by your "wouldn't make it past bootcamp" remark?

It is about 5% in US military alone, in Finland and in many European countries serving as gay is not a problem. I know because I dated one.

Problem which is causing mental health problems are idiotic homophobes who call all gays "weak" and probably hope to bully young gay teenagers into committing suicides.

Simply disgusting.

straight white man bad, got it.

What about the other side of the medal, of gay/bi guys who can't take a hint, and at the end need to be baseball batted by their home to get the message?

still, if a gay person can get through the rigors of military training, then kudos to them, but they're still the minority amongst their own kind.

@OGslavetrader: that's very weak trolling. and fyi, a historian specialises in a niche topic, in my case it's improvised, craft produced guns and underground gunsmithing(gun modifying) in central and eastern european guerilla movements of 20th century. I am not interested in the bundle of stickery of the classical period.

That's utter codswallop.

I have a lot of gay friends and acquaintances who are 'tough', more than those who are weak-looking. They just have different sexuality. Some of them really don't like the affeminate, frail-looking kind even. They are men who dates men, and that's that.

Besides, the looks might not reflect the mind strength either. And I do believe military regime requires both strengths. Firm grip and leadership is beyond shape.

The stupid idea that gays make weak fighters is a product of the homophobia in christian culture, with no reflection in ancient history. On the contrary, many mythical heroes like Hercules and Achilles were at least bisexual.

Gay term isn't existence in Ancient time. People used bisexual term. Today gay people claim pure gay as soon as childhood appeals to boys. So we took gay term. Remember the Bible never said they're gay but two men also Ancient Greek time people called still two men, when they did thigh coit. Where about Ancient Greek people respected virgin and first marriage. Later on they found anus option, etc So virgin thought, etc went waste. Yeah Christian people think gay is sick, because the Bible said man Adam and woman Eve. They/those went two root.

In the 2004 Troy, Brad Pitt did a good job even though Hector is definitely much cooler than Achilles.

I remember crying when Hector died in the fight after this scene:

@ artu
I don't like a show because it has artistic value. Mad Men, for example, wasn't for me. It was, for my taste, too heavy-handed, if you know what I mean.

The question here, though, is about movies, and they clearly have fallen behind - especially when it comes to comics because s TV show is much more compatible to a comic than a moviw. If you want to, a movie is akin to something like Marvel Team-Up.
In short - it feels wrong.

Not necessarily, Nolan’s Batman trilogy was better than Jessica Jones.

I dont like a show because it has artistic value either, in the sense that you express it. I dont check a box that goes “this one has it.” There is stuff that I respect in terms of artistic achievment but cant relate to, too. But the thing is, if Timeless is like a catchy pop song, Mad Men is more like, say, a Zappa album (I dont like Zappa very much). Think of a children song, you do not do not listen to it, because you deliberately label it as a children song. It’s just a song for children. You can also like a children song but that’s another story. Anyway, drinker night, so I had to simplify as quick as possible.

Well, I'm on holiday, so every night is drinker night.
I wouldn't compare Mad Men with a Zappa album. Mad Men is going back in time, so it's more like Joe Jackson's Night and Day, if you want to. The trouble I have with the show is that it's not delivering enough of the occupational angle. If it wsa a lawyer show, I'd miss actual cases. If it was a cop show I'd miss actual investigations. Delivering kind of a pastiche of the time ... I don't know, it's been more fun to read Stephen Kings's 11/22/63.

Yeah, Nolan's Batman trilogy. Wasn't part 3 rather contested? Batman actually not showing up until the last half hour or so?
The irony is that these movies are not superhero movies in the sense we talk about this. Batman isn't. The Joker isn't. They all aren't, actualy. They are more or less insane. Joker. Two-Face...
I mean - The Dark Knight isn't a Batman movie, it's a Joker movie. It's a supervillain movie, if you want to. Ending the case.
Jessica Jones is as good. David Tennant as Kilgrave may not be Heath Ledger and the Joker, but he is good enough. It's not as epic as The Dark Knight, but The Dark Knight lives off of Heath Ledger's Joker.

Punisher was okay but we already have Dirty Harry. Jessica Jones is more like film noir tradition meets super hero. I also love the music, 50’s jazz, then suddenly 70’s rock guitar blends in, but it doesnt feel eclectic:
