In theory. Do you think that your ideas are new ones? To fight Power you must have Power (in our reality it's an army), must become its Part. And once and if you managed to do it, you become just like them, people with Power, the very path to Power changes people  You see the real SCALE that peasants don't see. But there are exceptions. Why do you think the Renaissance was possible? It was possible thanks to enlightened people with POWER. Common people are not capable of anything, they still believe in a God, so they subscribed to the idea of their own powerlessness from their very childhood. Want to change something - become a politician, drink vodka with generals, and after several years of hard work, you will be one with real POWER

I like to study history from classical positions, in the way that it has always been taught in regular education (school or higher education). When I was little, I saw only military events in history. Later, I became interested in other aspects - culture and so on.
I am inclined to the point of view that society is too complex a system full of contradictions. Therefore, I am skeptical about conspiracy theories and theories of the "end of history".

How can you still pursue power if you realize it just allows you to kILL to you heart's content?

No, you are wrong. Most were succesfully convinced what they did would be good. Same with the Russians now - and with lots of people and armies and purges and revolutions and so on before that. That's the key. Directing everything that's wrong onto some scapegoat. Old tradition. Bible-proven.

What's the purpose of this nonsensical post? "If Gorbachev did this..." If the Confederates had won the Secession war there'd probably be no Russia because the 3rd Reich had destroyed it.

The 3rd Reich was raised by the United States. The 2nd World War itself was planned by the USA. This country is a little over 200 years old, it means nothing by the standards of world history. Once it was able to gain independence from England largely thanks to Russia.
But I'm sure this country will end badly in the end, because they started with crime (taken the land from the Red Indians). The cup of American crimes has long been full.

I didn't know the initial Russian attack on the Ukraine in 2014 was a reaction to the US threatening to establish a military base there.

No need to be so nervous. If you have a lot of hatred, then just go to the military front. There you will have good chances to go to Bandera.
And don't make me laugh about knowing history. You know history exclusively from American training manuals (and wiki, ok). When I was 7 years old, I perfectly knew the names of all countries, and which one is located where. American presidents do not even know such basic information.
