Russia can't war without nuclear weapons.. Why? USA can war to defeat without nuclear strikes.. Only if country strikes a nuclear weapon against USA, and USA only uses nuclear weapon.. When USA has war budjet.. A long war! Handicapped Russia strikes people.. I hope Ukraine wins.. But don't attack Russian territory.. Finland has bad experience..

Because Russia has all raw materials. And when you have this advantage - unlike many others, the sanctions will never turn radical, but mostly reach for a compromise. Energy is life.

So Putin doesn't care about sanctions because Russia has all raw materials. That's a weird conclusion in my opinion. If they have all raw materials, then why does Russia trade with other countries? Why do they sell their oil and gas? Why do they import electronics or cars? Why to trade? They've got everything they need? Does Putin care about trade or not? Because, well, sanctions are there to restrict it.

Yes USA can do.. If Russia strikes USA.. USA gets angry! Then bombs, etc but no nuclears, if Russia doesn't use a nuclear.. And USA kill Putin..

Remember that Russian radar detects up to an height of 20 km and 5km wide..

No, I mean, how will they "strike"? I think, the war in Ukraine shows that "war" is a silly concept at this time in history. Costs the world, destroys more and gains nothing.

Sanction is a word medias use so you think there is  something concrete behind gesticulations. I suspect everyone cheering the sanctions to  never listen economic analyses and just be happy with reading headlines.

Before the war EU payed to Russia 12 billions a month. After and during the war it went up to 22 billions a month, and this is just for oil, as prices went up. it is well explained HERE, use subtitles option for English.

All hail sanctions, Putin is surely shaking from having that extra money.

@Ghost,

You cannot harm us in any way by applying so-called sanctions.
You can only "shoot yourself in the foot" - you do it now, keep doing it further. Yes, some consumer sphere may suffer, but it does not matter. That's why I said that Western leaders behaved like crazy -
they are used to ruling the world and they do not want to admit that this time is running out.

It's unbelievable that a guy who apparently is a sucker for the USSR and their ideals - you know, socialism and all - now actually supports the war of conquest of a ruling clique that has been systematically plundering the countr's resources and produced ultra-rich "oligarchs" at the people's expense.

Makes no sense. Makes you fake.

The sanctions will hit Russia hard, but what will hit them much harder is the fact that now everyone is striving to cut themselves loose from Russian resources.

The people you support have managed to throw away Russia's very good position within the world economy.

I honestly tried watching that video with subtitles, but it's difficult to perceive the argumentation. If you want to discuss any specific arguments, then we can. But man, your reasoning is nonsense. There were no oil and gas sanctions by EU yet (only by the US and some specific countries, but not EU). When they say before the war they mean a year ago and all of that makes sense because the market price was significantly lower. And the price is going up now mostly because of the war, not because of the sanctions.

Oil Price Chart

I suspect that actually YOU never listen to economic analyses, or you don't understand anything. Do you know what GDP is? Do you know what IMF is? Do you know what is IMF forecast of Russian GDP in 2022? That's -8.5%. Some other predictions I saw go even to -15%. How about that? Putin doesn't care about sanctions, blah blah blah.

And here're paragraphs from the real IMF report, this is economic analysis, not random guys talking on French TV.

Both Russia and Ukraine are projected to experience large GDP contractions in 2022. The severe collapse in Ukraine is a direct result of the invasion, destruction of infrastructure, and exodus of its people. In Russia, the sharp decline reflects the impact of the sanctions with a severing of trade ties, greatly impaired domestic financial intermediation, and loss of confidence.

The tight trade and financial sanctions — including loss of correspondent banking privileges, access of some banks to the SWIFT payments system, and the interdiction of central bank assets—and the oil and gas embargo by some large economies will have a severe impact on the Russian economy. Announced plans by large consumers to wean themselves off Russian energy will also hit in the medium-term. To stave off capital flight, the central bank of Russia has increased the interest rate and broad capital controls have been introduced. Yet financial markets have been turbulent, with the ruble falling close to 60 percent, before returning to near pre-invasion levels in recent weeks, sovereign spreads widening more than 2,500 basis points, and stock markets temporarily suspended. The withdrawal of foreign firms has hobbled many industries, including aviation, finance, software, and agriculture. As a result, the outlook remains bleak. Moreover, financial disintermediation and a loss of investor confidence will lead to a significant drop in private investment and consumption, only partly offset by fiscal spending. The baseline forecast is for a sharp contraction in 2022, with GDP falling by about 8.5 percent, and a further decline of about 2.3 percent in 2023.

How about that?

Finally, I'm sure it is a Russian narrative that sanctions don't work. They do, economists say that. This narrative is obviously spread by Russian propaganda and also some Western politicians from the countries with deep links to Russia. Well, obviously sanctions also cause damage on other countries, but that's not even comparable to Russia. Saying that sanctions don't work is incompetent.
