I really wished they would be wiser and went with a real new start and cut all the dragon-god stuff away.
I hope i'm proven wrong, but knowing ashan, this will be a 3D spectacle full of bugs and female monks, duplicate cheap monsters ect ect.
In that trailer I see green undead, orange stronghold, so the color theme is also back? Disappointing! Also the female centaurs are back in the trailer, I hope that is not in the game.
oh god, those color themes! so boring and disrespectful. i fully agree on that. i wonder when they will give up doing it.
purple dungeons, green necros, yellow havens..

Yes, it stays like that until the end of the map. I have to disagree with storm-giant though in that I hope they don't turn sim turns back on once there is sufficient distance. As you alluded to earlier, sim turns oscillating on/off could be a giveaway that the other player is close to attacking you.

Sim turns reverts to turn based when you get near the opponent (so the mechanics of the game don't change)
And how is it determined whose turn it is when both played at the same time?
The order of the players?
Yes, the order of the players, so if you had 1st player (Red) and 2nd player (Blue), etc. then Red player would go first after Sim turns "fell away"...it's still fair, even with more players cos remember: everyone would be playing at the same time until Sim turns ended, so after this Red player goes first, then Blue, etc.

I don't remember perfectly how TotE Sim Turns worked (mainly played Duels), but didn't turn off when both heroes saw each other on screen? If that's the case, then you already know that the player is close to you...because he is right behind you!
Also don't forget that one single, hero scout can screw Sim Turns and unnecessarily slow the game a lot.

I'm okay with a shiny town on flying islands, as long as it's not the whole town. Deep down in the dark, cold craters(?) under the flying islands there are the slums, where the slaves, Gremlins, Cabirs, etc. live. It would also explain why Gremlins are wearing fur coats.

They have already prepared some things cocerning the factions and those things are advanced enough so that Limbic should be able to implement them quite quickly.

Sim turns did take into account if your army was too weak to take on teh big neutral stack blocking the path between you and your opponent. It wouldn't turn off if this was the case, only if it was "possible" to get to opponent in the next two turns or so.
I remember there was this downloaded map that you could play and complete 90% of the map before Sim turns got turned off...was great and there was this little connector between opponent and you that had like 50 phoenixs blocking the route!

I have to say the desert really fits this faction, one of the best things in the Ashan universe, they really implemented the old Wizard/Tower/Academy concept well. In H3 the snow was completely random and obviously they just wanted to use every possible terrain assigned for faction.

this. Academy in the desert is one of the best decision of Ubisoft. It add to its charm.

Then play Fortress.
Oh, wait...
Anywho, I liked the snow wizards too. Maybe they will be relocated in future games. Factions need to be more decentralized theme-wise. Like, I can totally see both desert and snow wizards in the same game.

This so much. I don't know why, but in any game that has a part in a desert enviroment, it's always the most boring for me.
Especially in games like Diablo and other ARPGs that have a desert act.
