If you fear a Dungeon rush then go for Attack, Light and Defense in this order but keep in mind you probably won't level fast enough to get a decent build so forget Retribution and go for BattleFrenzy (works superb with Fortresses unit growth) and Power of Speed in case your guild didn't have Haste.
From Light take Master of Wrath and Stormwind which won't help you againts early Dungeon but creeping should go a lot smoother.
Defense - Vitality and Power of Endurance(again, if your guild didn't provide the spell) - Last Stand is great for creeping but won't help you much againts AoE spells.
You might want to swap Leadership for Luck - Soldier's Luck(dwarves benefit the most from this one) and Dwarven Luck
Enlightment won't help you all that much (too early) and it will flood your levelling with it's rather useless perks.

Rune of Elemental Immunity is a great bonus but you may not get it (Runic Shrine level 2)

As for battlefield tactics I can only recommend avoiding Lava, Subterran (where the amount of obstacles is usually high) and try to fight him on Dwarven ground Spread your units as much as you can and try mixing them up with enemy units to hinder his AoE spells.

Againts Stronghold you need to keep their Rage levels from raising, Soldier's Luck is great help for triggering Rune of Thunderclap, Paw Strike and Bash (with Rune of Batlerage) or Bear Roars(keep in mind that Bear Roar won't trigger with Rune of Battlerage). Orcs without Rage are easy to take down so focus fire on one at a time, biggest damage dealers first. Pick a terrain with many obstacles, you can out shoot him with Light Magic help, he will have less opportunities to attack and gain Rage, you will have an easier time protecting your shooters as they blast and cripple the enemy.

retribution in HoF is quite easy to get?
Power of speed & endurance too?

Anyway, veco, why is attack better than luck as a priority in those
3 skills you mentioned vs dungeon? [maybe best priority is lucky rune of charge vs no defence]

yeah those damn duel maps are really unbalanced
I guess you're saying mass haste & maybe tactics is highest priority agst dungeon which can make sense [PoS in TotE]

So vs dungeon in small maps to hold his early push

luckwarwen luck +soldiers luck
light magic : storm wind + master of blessing
attack: battle frenzy + tactic + offensive formation

For stronghold i think i have tried to focus on killing his units onebyone starting with his executioner's and i lost . This race have 3 units witch do K.O. to any of my stacks ( without my magmas ) they are Executioners , Earth daughters , and warmongers.

I will test to get dark magic with curse of netherworld to take out his blood rage and to have some curses  but the problem is the battle is like 2-3 turns cuz his damage is 2 high even for the dwarfs witch is has high defend.

Mass Endurance/Haste/RM vs orcs, you're not likely to get Dark and even less likely to get good spells for it(Puppet, not CotN)

And, like veco already mentioned, you have to play it right. You can't just attack him head and hope to win. You have to make sure that you a) limit the attack options he has b)restrict his movement which results in less stacks being able to hit your units which results in you having more firepower to focus fire stack X or buys you time to cast spells and buff yourself up. Used your magmas to close off one way or use one of your sturdiest stacks to bait stack X to position Y which will block the path for Z. Sounds a bit retarded I know but it's not really complicated.

Am I the only one thinking the Geddon tactic is really useful for conservative map-clearing?

Patriarchs, Flamelords and Magmas can just sit there while you lower their troops more and more. In my case I always try the ultimate so Geddon is usually affected by Ignite, while my units are defending and waiting for a pre-emptive counterattack via Preparation.

All in all it seems pretty effective when facing numerous stacks. At least to me.

It's not a good idea with a single threatening stack I admit, and it prevents you from going around with war machines, but I am puzzled at how much most posters dismiss this possibility altogether.

Anyone?

It's not so much dismissing it than being in the late stages of creeping by the time they have mage guild 5. Not to mention either priests or upgraded thanes, dragons are easy to get though. A typical multiplayer game ends week 4-6 which means you leave town for middle about week 3-4 if not earlier, clear whatever you find in the middle and either rush opponent or flee/return for spells and/or units for the final clash(though if it's just units it's better to use chaining). If you go for mage guild 5 by week 3 you'll miss on creature dwellings/upgrades which may be ok for academy but not too healthy for the dwarves.

Now if you can find armageddon in a pyramid.. No doubt armageddon is awesome but it's not easy to get early when you need it the most plus there's only 1/3 chance to get it in guild.

Uh, that may be just me then...

Though it is worth noting that with my girlfriend we usually play "Huge" or "Impossible" maps, so I often have all the time to get ultimate, plenty chances to find Geddon, and many strong neutrals to clear. All summed, perhaps it changes my perspective on the topic.

I'm having a lot of trouble playing Fortress on heroic difficulty versus 1 Demon computer. I get rushed week 3 and can barely hold it off then the game just spirals downwards as the computer has upgraded units and i dont. The map I'm using is survival war and it seems I run out of gold + resources way too fast. Like I'm lucky if i get a citadel + priests by week 2. The hero I selected is Ingvar and the skills I'm typically going for are:
Warmachines - Balista, Runic Machines
Luck - Soldiers luck, magic resistance, dwarven luck (all 3 if im lucky)
Defense - Preparation
Thats really about as far as i get before I get demolished. Are there any tips for skills? Or fast methods for creeping with Ingvar? Or maybe The map isn't favorable?

Just a few questions about "Absolute Protection" (the dwarves ultimate):

1. Does it hinder Warlock's luck (casting spells from enemy hero)?
2. Does it affect luck artificers on Academy creatures?

Priests? Heh never ever built them online, used to go for dragons and castle week 2. That's 3 dragons early week 3. You are picking gold from chests right? Either way I'd go for flaming arrows and power of endurance, maybe also add destructive for that little boost. I don't favour destructive vs inferno but in a rush it can serve you well. Oh and battle frenzy if possible, with that and vitality Ingvar's stumpy guys can do mirales. If you can't take the AI head on you could let it attack you in town and get that building that gives you a huge shieldguard stack during sieges.

@DoubleDeck
Never tried vs warlock's luck, should affect everything else for certain though. Unless there are bugs involved..

There's a much higher chance of that than that a Warlock will get emerald slippers and implosion.  By the time you have this start ready to go, your opponent will more likely have around 200-300 marksmen.  And your fire dragons, with their 230 hit-points and their 35 defense.
