Just a very fast question, what are their main attributes? Is it: defense and spellpower?

Aren't black dragons immune to armageddon when it's not cast by a warlock?

I think the fortress is the ANTI-HAVEN ! Eternal light and Mass Deflect Missile ends the supremacy of the marksmen ... and the skirmishers can reduce the initiative of marksmen even more !!! Add to that the big defense of the RuneMages and you have the picture of the best anti-haven army probably !
Has anyone tested eternal light ? does it really work ?

even if the army can resist ranged power, they barely have the strength to use that advantage. I'm talking about a reliable ammount of power you can gather in a MP game. Thanes and dragons are unlikely to appear in your army, since they need ridiculous ammounts of resource, so you're kinda stuck to level 1-5 units.. which probably won't be able to score enough damage to become a serious threat. A haven army is composed with best damage dealers available on their levels (marksmen, griffs, paladins) while fortress' army is rather poor at doing damage. The conclusion is simple, i guess

you should build at least one of them ( dragons or thanes) , it's not impossible ... and also the bears and the berserks are not bad damage dealers , and they come in nice numbers !

Yes Towerlord, you are correct. Fortress can destroy Haven. They do very well against them.
They also do well against Inferno.

hopefully after the next patch, the cost will be lowered. and i will agree with the rest! fortress are pretty good... I played that last mission against lazzlo! I was totally underpowered, his army was bigger then mine... I survied on those runes! Res rune on if they are dying, else use a thunderclap to hold them back, make hero fire lots of magic... and then just press def. while your ranged unites and hero does all the work... I lost a lot but only after the battle as i found out that res rune is just like basic raise dead... :S

I'd share a few observations from my game:
1. Ignite doesn't do the exact spell damage. It seemed only to do a part of it. I am not sure what's the percentage, but I am sure it's not full damage.
2. Res rune doesn't work like raise dead, i.e. it doesn't kill your whole stack after the battle
3. On the campaign, due to the level cap, you'll most likely only get dwarves' ulti in the last scenario (not the dwarven campaign, the one at the end of Dark Elf campaign titled the Decoupling). It's really useful when stack with your defensive bonuses.
4. Warlock's luck + empowered implosion > Ignite Armagadden anytime. Although it's not 100%. Also, Fire dragon is Expensive... and Dwarven hero spellpower doesn't allow him to kill a whole army with spells alone, unlike necro or warlock. You need those thanes and skirmishers and berserkers.
5. Fortress units have low stats inherently, so the runes are a must!
6. Fire dragon walks, attacks and sounds like a Godzilla! Muahahahaha.

That didn't happen to me? mine were killed after battle! and actully i hoped that they would keep some of them alive... ! But my whole army was gone after my fight with Lazzlo (I hate that traitor, how could he just kill all those people)

Id does the 100% of the damage after 3 turns (it does 33% each turn until 100%).

Resurrection rune is real ressurection in my experience.
I've played many games with Fortress and I've never gotten ignite...maybe I should pay more attention to destructive magic.

It pre-requires Advanced destruction magic + Master of fire . In long games armageddon + magma dragons combo is very dangerous for any opponent , except the warlocks , which grim raiders usualy act earlier than heroes , especially with ini-bonus art(s) .

By the way, without ever having used it this is how I guess ignite works.
The spell deals full damage on being cast. Then over three turns an additional 100% is dealt 33% per turn.
Example fireball cast with damage of 100 kills 4 minotaurs. On each additional turn for 3 turns it will deal 33 damage killing 1 minotaur. Fictional numbers of course.

difficulties with runic guild + mage guild ...
difficulties with runic guild + mage guild ?... it seems to me that fortress has a tough time building both ! first of all it takes 10 days to acomplish and second you need lots of resources but the benefits of having both are really huge!
i think the mage guild is the priority and the runic guild is needed only for the final battle( no need to waste precious resources on unimportant battles) , but will you have them in time(mage + runic guild), and also resources left to use in the final battle? has anyone experienced such problems ?
anyway the runes are really really cool , and give a huge boost to your army !

I find the rune guild 1 a priority early on.Even so the 2nd gives up to lvl 4 runes and thus I find it quite cheap.I'll take mage guild 3+rune guild 2 over mage guild 4 any day!
