Some missunderstandings ;)

Quote:
But Xsi said speed is your favorite strategy

I will talk for myself only now, assuming other do the same (not neccessery true.)
im trying to do things as fast as possible (sometimes risky), speed is a lot in heroes 3, we know it, you know it, so i assume better players play faster meaning time in game.

I could call my gameplay agressive enough, but too risky somethimes, while marreti is more carefull, just some experience from game with him, that doesnt mean he is slow and im almost sure he tries to do things on any template fast
Marreti, sorry 4 taking you as example

Quote:
And about Xsi's game - taking leadership instead of attack or tactics doesn't look like speed strategy. Rather like hoping for long game. And main standing on gnoll, when there were a lot of other creatures to his proposal, including upg. manticores.

You probably got confused: I played TOWER vs ALEX, and i got a victim of his minotaur dvelling not a lot i could do facing 23 minotaur kings + 200+ troglodytes 131.

I calculated some things as well, almost succesfully: i saw him fighting throng swordsmens 127 + lots mighty gorgons on swamp i assumed he got mass slow and he will be without spelpoints: he had 8 left from 50, so this one was right. Mistake was: he didnt get slow at all, he had haste, not mass just simple haste. I had mass haste and 6 spel poins but could use 2 times (mages). Before i knew that, I was hoping to get mass slow from him and use mass haste later, nagas got 1st movement (mulich is nice), but ALEX tacktics and very clever battle formation made nagas not wait, but run away from his deadly mino kings. He used that advantage and killed 18 mages round 1

As for later i had some ideas to use in battle later, but, in round 3 or 4 i just realized i can not run away from minotaurs, there was not a single place out of theyr range, so had nothing to do but hit them and hoped to get morale. Even so if i would win that battle, losses would be big and he got 9-10 minos in towns + manticores + other army, nothing u can do.

To Cmapuk and Balamut

Cmaruk, if u can pls put a link to gamesaves on 2sm4d or 8mm6.
Im reading your forum as well you read this and find some interesting game situations and comments, so would like to see them, especially this one is very interesting for me:

Quote:
Napalm(red,Stronghold,Crag hack) def Paladin(blue,Stronghold,Tyraxor), 8mm6,133

As i said before: I like TE, i like 3do original templates and i would like to compete in your tourneys and for ratings as well. The problem is i cant get into your forum: i registered, but no activation so far even so i send a letter to Balamut.

Balamut pls, activate my account thx

And one more thing i read on your forum,

I dont know who said that our templates are balanced,

dont find them balanced at all its randoms and for example i dont even like jebus but i play all different templates just to have various knowledge in different situations, poor-rich map, with and without utopias, strong or weak monsters, high-low lvl hero etc.

Angelito, hope this not too offtopic as it is some main communication between Wcl/heroes.by

http://www.heroes.by/RealMan2007.php

This is the table, reglament and saves of "Big 10" tournament on 8mm6. The links are in main table from 1 or 0 of the common game.

There are only just a little saves, 3 or 4 games, but now is only 2 round of tourney and not saves are uploaded.

Napalm-Paladin will be uploaded as far as Paladin will have a little free time (both players are very busy not in heroes)

A few comments to played games:

Napalm def Paladin is the game where the favourite was Paladin. Some people count Napalm is the one of outsiders, but my expierence and this game shows another. Paladin himself said, that he played weak and slow, for what was beaten.

Stinger def Sil is the game of one of players supposed to can win tournament and the one of the weaker players. The gaming level and gaming expirience is different between them.

DC_Vasya def Sil is also game where difference in gaming level can be seen.

AlexTheGreat def DC_Vasya. Alex and Stinger are main favourites of tournament (we have voting and PR actions of tournament ). DC_Vasya has many wins in the tournaments for money, but there is question about his readiness to the game and sport form.

CmapuK def Bayazet. Bayazet is good and interesting opponent for me, we played about 14 games and this game sets counter at 7-7 Also, Bayazet is the champion of our Spring Season 2007 and Spring Cup 2007 (becides Big 10 and selection there is also a Cup).

I'm in lack of time and rather lazy for SoD playing and your templates But i can sometimes train somebody at 8mm6 or 2sm4d

PS: About tickets to Big 10 is a very hard question, linked with other questions. Please wait 1-2 weeks for me to exactly understand what I can offer. As the next "Big 10" tournament starts only in December or January, we have a lot of time.

slil.ru It's a free portal for file storage... It's rather slow, about 10-40Kb per second.

But stopping download is strange... May be it is because you are not in Russia or Ucraine, and server administration somehow denies or restricts non-russian ips...

You may:

- try again other time
- if it will be a lot of problems for European players to download, I'll try to put files at ftp, or more stable server.

When I decided to force players to make saves and to upload files to slil.ru, I didn't think that the saves will be needed abroad

...if someone have problems too, plz post here....
...if someone is very-very interesting in quick seeing the saves , I can send that by e-mail at 18-19 Moscow time (3-4 hours), (sorry, only my saves).

Hello, I am newbie here
I played very much with russkies.
They are very tough in game and nice in RL
Surely, you might try heroes mod which they call TE.
With certain game options it is playable.
Ask previous orator where download it.
You may find me in ICQ # 162126895 if you want ask anything.

Try to download what you want with WGET. On command line (command prompt) give:
wget -c http://network.address...
[-c directive forces the download to continue from the latest bit already downloaded]

You can download it here hosted in this web-page

Hope this helps

I tried for myself, it's rather slow connection. But it is the most comfortable way to upload saves for most of our players.

Plz, try to use some downloaders (there are a lot of free software - WGET, Download Express, FlashGet some versions or browser-inside downloaders such as OperaDownloader)

Best of the best players of WCL and Heroes.By portal have finished their competition...

OFF: It seems to me this competition turned into Heroes.by vs Rest of the World. However, WCL is a new tournament (half year old? or so) and I did not even heard about these Top-players earlier except Maretti. This does not mean I underestimate their strength or skills, but let me remind You (both russains and WCL-team) that there are exists players, who already are not active enough or does have no clue at all WCL exists!

Few years ago there were several (or dozen) of players on MSN zone, who used to play such speed and aggressivity like Heroes.by players do. After MSN zone was closed, some players moved to Gamespy (which was never was so popular among top-players like MSN-zone) and the majority retired. So looking these saves I did not find any 'outstanding wonder' made by russain players, however they were close to maximimum in their games. I remember, when Maretti himself was an over-prudent online newbie (this character he still holds, the over-prudent I mean), who wanted to play only on Balance, picking Crag Hack and allowing double build. No offence, but it was so... That time there were already players like Frank, Archdevil666, Eternal_winner, TheEverliving, Motorschaaf, Rychenroller and more players, who could break wk2 d2-3 also on this stupid jebus template. So this competition would be interesting, if former top players of TOH and WW from 2-3 years ago would present the other team. I feel from these comments like the World would fail againts Heroes.by, but in fact it is not so. I did not mention asian (chinese, korean) players, who are also so well-organized and experienced players (some of them had sensational record on TOH) and we do not know anything about them...True, challenge was sent for present players and accepted, so nothing wrong with this.

On the other hand, I wonder how someone can consider Jebus among 'best templates', especially with such rules (cons, hives, dwellings allowed). This template is clearly luck based. I just call your attention that the making of this template (Bjorn190) was based on Criss Cross fix maps serie, which are also highly luck-based (relics, topes, refugees etc).

Perhaps the 'elite-players' of WCL should give up to play on this stupid template and try to spy and learn 'enemy' strategies on their favourite templates. I have received a link from SAG to most liked templates among russian players:

http://dreamcatcher.metroland.ru/templates/templates.html

But I wonder if this really the right one or they play some improved template? 4SM0d seems to me very primitive in this form (ends week 2 usually in my test games). On other well-liked template (8XM12) the guards are also very weak between zones. Is this a 4 player template or is another version of it? Can someone tell me if what improvments and what rules Heroes.by players play this?

If anyone could help, pls do it! Thanks!

Well, i invited all good players, so everybody could ask me to join the team...both on HC and on WCL webpage. Actually Xarfax joined the team, though he never played on WCL - that was a mistake definitely...I have no money to advertise such tourneys somewhere else.

I doubt that closing of MSN Zone was the real reason of "retirement" of some known players. I would name some other reasons: closing of HoMM3 on TOH, closing of WW, launch of HoMM5 and simply some ppl lost interest or got family.

Ghosts from the past By the way, Heroes.By also had nostalgia, few days ago they also remembered some very famous russian players. However as they said - players must play, else they will lose their skills.
P.S. Devangel broke on 117 and Stinger broke on 116 - during singleplayer trainings.

How do you plan to attract these veterans? Why are you sure that they are still good?

Quote:

Perhaps there are good asian players, unfortunately i haven't heard a word about their communities, players and i wonder how can we rate them?

Quote:

This template makes games interesting because as Maretti said "small disbalances" counterbalances each other. Of course we could make patches which would disable all dwellings, artefacts, etc but that would not make games more interesting or useful (imho). This template was played a lot and is known to people.

Quote:

Agree that people should play different templates, not just Jebus

Yes, i plan to add these temps to WCL downloads.

Frank is a very good player no doubt, his generous sharing on knowledge is widely seen in hc, but the last time i checked he lost two straight games to dead202. I have not seen or played any of the other players mentioned though.

But as sag mentioned, past is past, would have, could have is not whats important, neither are those assumptions. Now is what matters, and now we all know what happened .

2SM- and 8MM6? You told me last time on GS about 4SM and 8XM, bah.
OK I will check then these, thanks for correction! The TE version is most welcome, myself I am over my 12th TE game .

Quote:
I do not comment on the rules, but... The statement of maretti was that he will beat players who play only fixed maps. And you dont play only fixed, as far as i know in heroes.by you play 2sm4d(3),2sm4d(2) 2sm4d OR 8mm6. Thats not fixed maps.

To all players of WCL.

Some players here were interested of playing in tournament "Big 10" at heroes.by

To decide, in which form i can offer you selection in this tournament, I need to know, how many players here are interested in it.

So plz post here if you want (or is better to create a new topic?). Post using this information:

- The tournament is already running. The next tournament "Big 10" begins in december-january.
- How many tickets and from which selection tournaments I'll decide exactly at august, 11
- To enter the main tournament it will be needed to get a ticket place in selection tournament, (and in some cases play some additional games)
- There is a selection tournament at heroes.by with some tickets, that starts next Sunday (12.08), and there will be 7 games whith 2 weeks on each.
- The possibility of personal WCL-selection tournament exists. But all depends on the number of players from WCL, interested in "Big10".
- Also, if there would be many interested players, and WCL-selection tournament - it will be on TE. Other rules can be discussed.
- Heroes.by selections runs on 2sm4d's. This is rather balanced templates, mid-level of hardness or even easy to play for the first time, and with zounds of played games and tested rules. Good choise for trying TE. "Big10" runs on 8mm6. Hard template for mid- and lowlevel players, usually unliked by them, hard to play for 1st-3rd times. But almost all our best players like it much more than the others, due to a lot of variant of gaming and possibility to doing the very best by player on this template. We are playing "Big10" even whith mini prize pool which consists of players small payments. For those, who are going to qualify in "Big10" is strongly recommended to get an expierience on this template.
- Balamut, me and our players will help you with you questions about TE, templates, rules, files, etc..

So, there are some variants to august, 11:

- There finds many players here, going to qualify into "Big10". I offer the format of competition and how can you winners qualify with our.
- There are only a few people here interested in all that, so they can play in selection tournament at heroes.by.
- Some other variants, depending on situation

So I'm waiting for interested people and their thoughts.
