((I know I just forgot to mark it. Fixed now. Normal effectiveness would have been 10-12 damage.))

Mina made a mental note of that tactic—it wasn't something she could use presently, but who knew? Maybe it would be useful later. "Sandshrew, ((Transform and)) Rollout!" Mina directed her after the Duskull as well; just because it was asleep now didn't mean it might not be dangerous.

"I assure you that was a mistake." Lyra smiled, giving a nod to her Hellen, a signal to launch the move Assurance on the Mr Mime that was only recently brought out onto the field. "It'll be even worse if ye trie' to hurt me."

(Using Assurance on Mr. Mime.)

(Seriously I specifically remember thinking 'would a dragon rage on duskull be good here?' about that.)

Outdoor bar battle:

((You're going to hate this round gnomes...))

Kelts recalls Koffing!
Kelts sends out Misdreavus!

Cor recalls Duskull!
Cor sends out Staravia!

Ariados uses Shadow Sneak!
No effect!

Ariados snaps his mandibles violently as his intended prey vanishes before he can hit it.

Mr. Mime uses Reflect! ((Here we go again! ))
The opposing Pokemon are protected from Physical attacks!

Hellen uses Assurance!
Mr. Mime is hit for 16 damage!
It's super effective!

The Mr. Mime thumbs its nose—or where a nose would be on a human—as the protective technique shields it from the worst of the attack.

Lapras uses Confuse Ray!
Mr. Mime is confused!
Mr. Mime used its held Persim Berry to heal its confusion! ((And now you know why gardening is relavent to Pokemon training. ))

Sandshrew uses Rollout! ((Roll = 88))
Staravia is hit for 12 damage!
It's super effective!

Mina's Sandshrew just barely hits her target; Mina makes a mental note to find some way to boost her accuracy after this. But outwardly the dark haired trainer's mouth quirks for just a split second—the briefest smile—before she turns to Mark and murmurs,

"We should talk later. That would have been a really clever tactic if we had done it on purpose."

"Okay." She stared, watching as the mr mime got into a defensive position, reflecting and shrugging the majority of the damage off. "Screw that, just bypass the reflect entirely. Hellen, show them your fury." Hellen lets loose her dragon rage on the mr mime, how dare it use a move that entirely reduces her effectiveness on this matchup.

(Self note, remember that in gen 5 Assurance is still 50 BP, bulbapedia tricked me there.)

Mark nodded to Mina slightly, thhouvh he didn't take his eyes off the battlefield. "Alright, sounds like a plan..." He whispered back before giving his commands. "Alright Lapras, time to use sing again! Ariados, change of pace, use Night Shade on Mr. Mime."

Outdoor bar battle:

Mina, realizing the trainer with the Staravia only had the normal-damage-from-Rock-moves Duskull left to fall back on, ordered her Sandshrew to Rollout the bird again.

Misdreavus uses Psywave! ((Roll = 94))

Hellen ducks the beam of energy sent her way and pulls down an eyelid at the Misdreavus, mocking it.

"Stick to what you're good at, Kelts!" The flunky called Tirf advises.

Mr. Mime uses Light Screen!
The opposing Pokemon are protected from Special attacks!

Staravia uses Wing Attack!
Sandshrew is hit for 21 damage!

Seeing his bird in danger of being pancaked, the Staravia's trainer begins looking nervous. "A little help guys!" Cor calls to his fellow flunkies.

Hellen uses Dragon Rage!
Mr. Mime is hit for 40 damage!

Ariados uses Nightshade!
Mr. Mime is hit for 26 damage!

Lapras uses Sing! ((Roll = 52, 70, 17))

Both the Misdreavus and the Staravia fall asleep; the Mr. Mime remains conscious.

Sandshrew uses Rollout! ((Roll = 27))
Staravia is hit for 92 damage!
Critical hit!
It's super effective!
Staravia faints!

Mina whoops while the Duskull is sent back out. "Good one, Sandshrew!"

"Alright guys, doing good. Ariados, finish of Mr Mime with another Shadow Sneak. Lapras, we're doing good, got most of them down or debuffed! Hit the Duskull with Ice Shard!" Hopefully the moves being super effective would help take down both pokemon, and lapras's favorable type would help his attack more effective than Ariados's.

Mina bit her lip and surveyed her potential targets. That Mr. Mime was getting battered and probably didn't need Sandshrew's help to go down, but the Duskull was still in reasonable shape and sturdy enough Lapras might not be able to take it out. And it should be slower than Sandshrew again, now...

"Rollout the Duskull!"

Now if that Misdreavus would just keep sleeping...

Alright, so the battle was going now... And let's see here, "Okay, Lapras, new target. Hit weepinbell with Ice Shard. Ariados, use night shade on the Duskull." Why had Lapras's attack been so weak there? He wasn't a weak pokemon by any means, and the barrier shouldn't be THAT protective...

"Well you see, we have a few questions for Jaime about some pokemon, so... Lapras, can you use sing on the f-flunkies here so that we a-aren't interrupted?" They shouldn't have anything happen to them but a nice restful nap with some good dreams, since this is usually what lapras do to troublesome or troubled humans... also, they wouldn't be able to run off and fetch some more flunkies or warn the smugglers while they asked their questions.

The flunkies manage to look somewhat confused before Lapras' song has them drooping to the ground, before they fall snoring on their faces. Obviously they weren't expecting to be attacked directly. The oppressive heat ensures there aren't even witnesses, the normal traffic of the area keeping itself indoors, where it's air conditioned.
