Morrik was quick to notice the necromantic energies. But instead of warning Tael or even Amurris, he simply smiled and went to sleep, thinking of the elf's reaction.

"Great. Another mystic magical death skull person around of us to have a laugh with." said Salim with an exasperation as he heard Tael's remarks about Osseric being a Necromancer, "Whatever, at this point I honestly should not be so surprised."
He then turned to Domerth and asked, "So shall we come along with you into the ruin itself or build a wagon?"
"Into the ruins! Into the ruins!" yelled out Poat excitedly.
Salim glared at him and said, "Shut up or I will slap you."

- Who's going to pull it then?- Domerth looked around.- How fortunate. Over there- he pointed towards left from his seat.- Is a perfectly good wagon. Use it, and we'll save time. Still, the ruin is in a day's reach. It would take three times less with Karayan here- He nodded towards his horse. It was as black as a darkest night, with a white "stars" on it's heads. It's manes were long and dense, marking it's untamed nature.
- Go and rest now. I'll stay awake and ward off the creatures of the night. I do not know why, but they're scared of my weapon.

"Well I guess that's all for tonight then..." muttered Salim. He then turned to Poat and said, "C'mon, lets get some shut-eye, and no stealing my blankets this time!"
Poat grumbled a little bit, but they eventually returned to their respective tents and slept, though lightly.

Domerth stayed awake all night, keeping the fire burning. No one got near the camp, neither thieves nor ravenous creatures of the night. Only a collosal creature, be it a giant bird or a mighty wyrm flew through the sky.
After returning with some fresh firewood Domerth found a fight going on. he didn't said a thing, just watched silently. he'll step in if the things go out of hand

Tael Riverine were the first to awaken, opening his eyes and standing up. Not even sunrise yet, perfect. He brushed the hair away from his face and froze. His hands? He roared, startling those already asleep.
"Who cast a hex on me?" he roared, looking around and stopping when he saw the necromancers wagon and putting the curtains on fire with a wave of his rotten hand. "Come out and face me you cheap sod! This is exactly why I hate your kin, always using hexes and corpses to fight your battle. Face me yourself, you necrophile tit!"

Osseric was reading when he heard the Elf shout. He let out a melancholic chuckle. Until he saw that his curtains were set ablaze and heard more accusations spew forth from the Elf. His minions already stirred, but Osseric dismissed them. He would face the Elf if he so chose. Those curtains were of silk of the rare Blue Moths of Darrunia, the Elf would pay for those.
Osseric summoned his staff into his hand. The door of his carriage flew open and Osseric step out. His face was pure disdain, his long hair and beard flowed as in water.
"Then you will feel my power!" Osseric said with a voice that came from the grave. Inky smoke flowed freely from his mouth as he spoke. "Your insult evoked my hex, now you evoke my wrath!"
Osseric gave a contemptuous wave of his free hand, which flung the elf metres through the air.
The patch of grass the Elf landed on turned grey and rotten, as Osseric was quickly aging and draining the land around the both of them. The soils was quickly crumbling away, trying to swallow the Elf.

Salim woke to the shouting and stepped out of his tent, after quickly donning his gear. He then saw the elf being flung onto a dying patch of grass by the necromancer as the necromancers servants were trying to put out a fire on one of his carriages.
"Heh, serves that jerk, right." thought Salim to himself.
He walked over and then said out loud, "I'm betting 12 coins that the Necromancer will win!"

Tael snarled and turned to smoke, flying several meters up in the air before turning into an elf again, putting the ground around the wagon on fire. He then turned to smoke again, moving in a circle as fast as he possibly could (considerably fast). He split up the smoke and gathered it again several times to confuse the necromancer, not really having faced one daring to stand his ground before he was unsure as to what the man was able to do.

Osseric was rather pleased that the Southerling was trying to bet in his favour. But the attempts of the Elf to torch his carriage and cart. The trick of turning to mist was one Osseric had witnessed before and one he knew to counter.
Osseric blew the black smoke that had been billowing from his mouth towards the whisps of the Elf's mist. Aided by the magic Osseric was steadily draining from the surrounding land, the smoke formed a thick and brooding cloud the envelloped the Elf-mist. The inky smoke was known as the 'Breath of the Underworld' and no mortal was able to breath it, Osseric was not mortal anymore and like nearly all Necromancers was immune to it's effects. Osseric canceled thetransformation spell. Many an Elf possesed innate magic like this and it was mostly instinctual. Any magus of skill could as easily disspel such a minor incantation.
The Elf materialised in mid-air again and to Osseric's delight sucked in a lung full of Underworld-breath. The smoke soon robbed the Elf from his own breath and he would have nothing to hold him airborn.
Lo and behold; the Elf dropped out of the cloud of smoke gagging and gasping for breath. Again the Elf landed on rapidly aging soil, but the harsh landing collapsed the corrupted ground and formed a sinkhole.
The Elf, now trapped halfway up to his chest in the ground, was still coughing and strugling to get out.
Osseric aproached him, the look of contempt still radiating from his grizzled face.
"Give me one good reason not to drain you of your soul, craven Elf."

"Man, I'm good..." said Salim as he saw the Necromancer take down the elf. "Unfortunately no one has taken the bet for me...I guess I'll just take a couple coins from Poat, since I'm going to have to spend my own money for him again."

"My soul is too corrupted for you to handle." the elf snarled and threw his head back, eyes glowing brightly red as he hissed. Fire exploded from him, burning the ground keeping him to dust. He raised both hands and enveloped himself in a flame hurricane, directing it toward the necromancer and turned himself to smoke once again to avoid the extreme heat.

Again, Osseric cancelled the transformation and turned the Elf physical agian. The heat was taking it's toll and the Elf's fire slowed down.
"I bargain with Death itself. You are nothing in comparrison."
Osseric negated the fire alltogether before the Elf got to close. Osseric pointed his staff towards the Elf and the obsidian orb shattered. Shards of volcanic glass shot towards him and preforated his chest. Osseric pulled his staff back. The shards twisted inside the Elf's body and shot out towards Osseric. The orb reformed itself on top of the staff harmlessly.
Again Osseric gave a contemptuous wave of his hand and flung the Elf through the air.
"Now are you done playing? I tire of these games."
Osseric started pulling the blood out the the open wounds of the Elf, slowly forming a quivering blob in his hand.
"Now surrender before I stop playing with you."

((No, but perhaps I overdid it. Osseric needs things to drain life from to feed his power. He'll have a harder time in the fortress. His speech was bluff.))
"Yes, I will forgive...you for your...ignorance. As there is...nothing wrong...with your hands." Osseric said with his normal slow and melancholic voice.
Indeed he had already reversed the hex. With a slight movement of his hand he sent the glob of blood back to the Elf as the wounds on his chest slowly healed as the blood retreated.
Osseric surveyed the land. He had drained every plant in a wide area of life to give him power. What was once a verdant field, was now an ashen wasteland. The grass was dead, the earth mere dust and ashes and the trees were barren and withered.
Osseric was looking older already, he had exerted himself despite what he said. He would need time to recuperate.
"As I...said yesterday, inform...my servants when you...whish to leave."
Osseric retreated into his carriage and closed the doors again. There wer scorchmarks on the curtains, but they would block the windows still. Osseric drew the curtains and slumped in the couch.
He pulled the vial of soulessence from his jerkin and downed half of it. It was disgusting even to him and it would leave the barest of minimum he needed to sacrifice to the Deathgod to keep his end of the bargain. Nonetheless it reversed Osseric's aging again, but it would be past noon before he would be able to get up again.
Still he would not tell the people outside, he had to keep up appearances.

It was a good thing that nobody got serious damage during the fight, or got separated by Domerth. he didn't said a thing, just putted a few dry pieces of resinous pine into the fire.

Salim then got some food supplies out and cooked up a rudimentary breakfast consisting of seasoned chicken and sautéed vegetables served with light ale. After that Salim kicked Poat out of his bedroll and made him pass out the food and ale to everybody.
Salim then went over to where Domerth was and asked him, "Hey there, you have a second?"

Amurris had sat watching the fight between Tael and Osseric. The battle was alarming, as Stillscale watched the elf struggle to fight back, eventually giving up, but the lizardkin wouldn't have cared too much if the elf died. He was never fond of elves. He didn't know why, but something about elves made Amurris uncomfortable. But either way, Amurris knew how to put it aside, and he would until it became important.
