If the VIPs were around for Heroes 5, I really hope they fought against the brothel being placed in the game. If not, shame on all of you for your complacent attitude towards such a garbage faction.

There was a different team of VIP members for Heroes V. And I do believe that it's better the way it is now, since at the time, we didn't know of any VIP forums at all, and I don't recall the VIPs speaking to the community as they do today.

Brothel...
The only female units were the Blood Maiden, Shadow Witch, and their respective upgrades.
Still a sucky-ass dungeon though.

Perhaps not a brothel. More of an S&M club.
For example:
Sometimes I wonder if Nival made a faction of prostitutes to make their release party seem normal. Wish I could find the picture.
Sadly, I find that even Heroes 4 had a better dungeon than Heroes 5 and that thing was a complete mess.

In fact is half warhammer druchii, half forgotten realms drow.
The Hydras and Black Dragons come from druchii, as well as the witch elves and white skin. The minotaurs, living in the underground and having powerful matriarchs is a Drow thing. I would also put the explorers on Drow as they fit more the Drow than the Druchii.
Dark elves riding lizards is common to both.
And I liked this faction a lot, but this was probably because I'm a fan of any type of dark elf
I only stopped playing with them in hot-seat against my friends when we realized how powerful they were compared to other factions and how fast a DE hero could wipe an entire enemy force.
P.S: Oh yeah, I knew about that Krytha pic. She was my fav. Hero from that faction, but not for the pic It was because she had access to Leadership, wich is extremly rare between DE, and she started with a lot of minotaurs (high health = you wont loose complete units on early game) and provided them with high defense to synergize with the high health, and high attack for the double strike. She also started with a good offensive spell, so was a very good hero IMO.

In the absence of news I've read through the latest version of the fan manual. And after reading the ability tree section I ended up with a few questions. I don't know if these have all been answered, so I'm counting on you to help me out.
so we have three panels in the ability tree; might, magic and unique abilities (faction and class).
The might and magic are both divided into families or schools, in which each family or school has three levels.
Might Paragon, Realm, Tactics, War Cries, Warfare.
Magic Prime, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, Darkness, Light.
So here are some of my questions regarding these panels of the tree:
(1) Are all the might abilities available to all the factions?
We already know that all magic schools are available for all the factions, but with an affinity to one or more schools. Does the same apply to the might families? Are all the might abilities available to all the factions, and do they also have an affinity to one or more of the families?
If the answer to the previous question is yes, then;
(2) The might and magic panels of the skill tree will be the same for all the heroes?
In H5 the skill wheel was different for each faction, but it won't be this time around, am I correct?
(3) What unlocks the spells and abilities on the second and third level?
In H5 you had to learn "Advanced destructive magic" in order to learn certain kind of spells in that school. How will that be determined this time around? Hero level? Will it perhaps cost skill points to unlock say second level earth spells, or do you only have to meet the requirements?
I saw in the magic tree that some 2. level spells had an arrow down from a first order spell. They look very similar, so I'm guessing it might be a more powerful version of the same spell, or perhaps a mass effect? I did not see this in the might abilities.
(4) Can you under any circumstance learn more than one spell (or ability) at a time? (without using several skill points)
I know this has not yet been answered, but I'm wondering if it's possible. Will there for instance be buildings similar to the witch Hut that gave you an ability without gaining a level? Or are you limited to thirty abilities/spells that come with leveling up no matter what?
Ok, over to the third panel of the skill tree; unique abilities linked to your faction and class. I'll just call it unique for now.
Unique Starting Ability, Faction Ability, Class Abilities.
So the faction ability has four stages, getting improved for each level.
The class abilities we have much info on now, and we know we have to visit the Chamber of Judgement to advance to an Advanced Class when the reputation has built up sufficiently.
Also, I found this very interesting;
Quote: These abilities are automatically gained when the Hero reaches a certain level or ascends to an Advanced Class.
You don’t have to spend Ability Points to unlock them.
(5) So the faction ability will automatically advance/improve when a hero reaches a certain level?
(6) What is the "heroic strike" in the picture?
Is it just the usual hero melee attack?
I'm wondering how the might and magic abilities will be balanced out. In my book might seems stronger, since they don't require mana, and you can no longer just add spells to your spellbook "for free". But perhaps spells will be more powerful? I don't know.
Hoping for some informative answers
Edit: Added some more high-res picture. Didn't work. Here are the links instead: Might Magic Unique

hopefully, might just won't be war cries. that is to say, might heroes would play exactly like magic heroes. in H5, the stronghold army had quite an unique play style, but the hero wasn't very different from other heroes. he just had different spells. he wasn't even stronger in melee combat...
now, the H4 barbarian was different at least, even if not so well balanced

@Karanshade
I think someone from ubi had messed up.
@Brukernavn
Actually each faction gets 5 specific magic schools. The majority of skills/spells/abilities are accessible to all, what I am not sure is whether each faction has unique ones in their skill paths or if they are only available via advanced classes.
They are divided by tiers with each tier covering a certain level range. Tier 1 is 1-9 lvl, tier 2 is 10-19, tier 3 is 20-29, tier 4 is 30. This ensures that the more powerful abilities cannot be unlocked too early, hopefully a decision that will allow short maps to be more balanced. Naturally if you have a high level you can choose from your tier and previous ones.
You may have seen one of Slava's skill screens where he had a 3-4 ability points available. When you level up you may invest them or let them accumulate, either way your hero will get improved stats. I do not know if that will be the case in final version but it is possible.
Racial is gained automatically, yes. More skill points for you to spend elsewhere Heroic strike is the hero melee attack as you said.

That's what makes Heroes one of the best series in gaming for me....you never get headaches or brain tumors playing it as like what happens with most fast-paced games...with Heroes, you can take your time, have a break without pausing, make some coffee, take a deep breath before major battles....aaahh love it! The only other games that made me feel similar are those 80's adventure games like King's Quest, etc.....

Not all that easy. The leveling formula has changed though, with earlier levels being a little slower to obtain and later ones faster, at least compared to before.

That sounds sweet, maybe this time you won't be forced to commit genocide of Dragons just to go from level 29 to level 30...
Seriously the experience requirements that the high levels had in Heroes 5 was just painful.

@Brukernavn
Good questions, these answer are just my opinion so I could be wrong:
(1) Are all the might abilities available to all the factions?
I don't think so, as there are some abilities that increase morale (think one is "Heroism") which would be good for Haven but useless to Necro. I think each faction won't have the same access to magic or to skills...
If the answer to the previous question is yes, then;
(2) The might and magic panels of the skill tree will be the same for all the heroes?
I think they will be similar but with a few differences depending on the faction (like H5)
(3) What unlocks the spells and abilities on the second and third level?
We all know that heroes will gain points after each levelup that they can spend on spells. I think that it will depend in which range your hero is, to determine what level spells you can get:
Level 1 - 10 : first level of spells
Level 11 - 20 : second level of spells
Level 21 - 30 : third level of spells
(4) Can you under any circumstance learn more than one spell (or ability) at a time? (without using several skill points)
I don't think so.
(5) So the faction ability will automatically advance/improve when a hero reaches a certain level?
I don't think so, only the class ability will automatically advance (eg. might blood path), the faction ability you will have to use ability points....
(6) What is the "heroic strike" in the picture?
Is it just the usual hero melee attack?
Yes, it is the hero melee attack.
Quote: As we saw the creature pools were originally planned, but they scrapped them and went for the traditional dwelling system instead. That shows good thinking and decision making in my book.
Where did you hear this? I know the towns will have individual tier creature dwellings...but the external dwellings will be group based (core, elite, champion) where you can recruit from a pool in that specific group....

No you don't spend any point (haven't I already told you to read Lepastur's sum-up ?)
The racial skills increase with the hero level meaning that for example from level 1-9 a knight can only cast Guardian Angel on core units, he gets the next level at level 10 and can cast it on Elites. Since he didn't make it that high, he supposed that at level 20 you unlock the next step that allows you to cast it on Champions (logical) and that at level 30 you get the ultimate level (effect unknown).

That's actually what was said when we were told that cities had shared pools.
