Maybe not but it definitely gave a specific flavour. Gem, Sandro, Crag, Queen Catherine - their style had a big impact on the campaign's feel.

Good story and characters are always a plus.
To some it might not be the most important part, or even important at all, but keep in mind some of us enjoy that part of the game and hold it in high regard.

Replayability
Regarding replayability in my opinion, without a random map generator, there is no replayability.

Well, blood and tears affecting the story makes for some replayability I would say. Adding might and magic to that makes it a whole lot.

You mentioned story, i believe heroes games has always been strategy first and it aint dragon age. So when we finish the story, i want to play single scenarios like a chess game. At some point i will finish all the single scenario maps too, then ill download a few, ill be finished that too. If you think im going to play the sAme map twice, whats the fun in that? Thats why a random map generator is mandatory for this game.

Mmmm parhaps if your decisions have substantial impact on the story (personally id expect so but unsure) then yes (it would give some replayability, but that would be rather insignificant ).
serptico: I guess i must've been mistaken when i saw that H6 is a turn-based RPG, wait i wasn't

Quote: But what if they destroy the gate within that turn? The stack won't come back then (as it says will then only come back after combat) but if demon hero has no more troops (on the battlefield) then what?
Stack not destroyed = battle not over.
But the ability says "if the gate is destroyed, the stack returns only AFTER combat"....maybe if they are the last stack available (ie all other stacks have been killed) then they come back from Sheogh automatically...not sure....
Quote: It's not the only one, pyromancer would probably have trouble vs demons as well. Resistant to fire.
Nowhere does it mention that Inferno will be resisitant to fire....only that certain inferno heroes/creatures make fire magic more powerful....

I think it's high time to make the creatures which come from a fiery realm and have animations including flames less vulnerable to fire than your regular pixie. Even if it's just 20-30% reduction, at least it will finally start making sense.

Question:
How does every strategy game WITHOUT a RMG last so long?
Answer: User Generated Content.
People still play many old games like Warcraft III because of the ABSURD quantity of quality user generated maps, I would quite literally take several life times to play every map that is actually worth playing (ignoring the large amounts of maps that aren't).
RMG is certainly good, important even, but not mandatory as long as there is a good powerful map making tool, moddability and dedicated fanbase.

Why sure, if we disregard the fact that the creation of a decent WarCraft-like RTS map takes between half an hour and several hours at most while making a good, two-layered L or XL Heroes map requires weeks and even months of dedicated making and testing, you are right.

No idea if they're too strong, the way Morale works has been changed (different scale), so that +7 Leadership might only be equal to an old +3/+4 Morale.

They look fairly balanced to me, considering Leadership now does double digits, they don't seem particularly powerful.
The Naga Helmet has me wondering if it's +2 Scouting on both land and sea, seems likely, with the leadership as a conditional modifier.
And the Thunderblade helmet looks oddly familiar, like it belonged to a certain "sir Ignatius Thunderblade" for those of us who either own a DS or PS3/XBox.
Edit: Which by the way, whilst a nice reference, seems a little odd, HoMMVI is set several hundred years before the last three games in Ashan, how could it be called the "Thunderblade" Helmet?!
MAYBE IT TRAVELED THROUGH TIME!!!!
Meh I can forgive that for the nice reference and attempt at building up some depth into Ashan.

Both names and backgrounds are largely uninspired IMO.
Otherwise they're okay.
