I'm wondering if we'll get the same deal as with Magic Arrow in H3; same spell in all the different schools. We have fire bolt, lightning bolt, probably ice bolt, and what other spells that deal damage to a single stack. Although spells have other functions as well (for instance soaking), so they won't be exactly the same spell under different names and animations.
But I hope fire bolt deals more damage to a single stack than fireball does, so there's actually a dilemma in choosing. If that's not the case fire bolt is useless after a hero reaches level 10.

Quote: It was a Q&A which mentioned that there will be more than 200 spells (active and passive)...(eg. active = fireball, passive = logistics).
The 98 spells I am referring to are only magic spells from the 7 magic schools, ie. not including warcries, passive abilities....
I'd call logistics a skill but not a spell... on the other hand 200+ spells would be an awful lot!

I wish they also told us how much these spells cost. Also, is there such skill as sorcery anymore, or the spell cost & efficiency are influenced by other factors now?

I would like some screenshots of the spells in action, but I'm very happy that they are giving daily tidbits now. I had hoped they would do something like this a while ago. Just 3 weeks and a day until beta!

I so hope there will be a spell like "Walking bomb"
That would make the unit explode when it is killed dealing damage to serounding unites.
A nice touch would be, if the explosion had a range of 2 squares and deal bigger damage on the first sguare.
Also it could do damage to the target unite, and it could be casted both on enemy and ally.
But to the topic..
I think there will be 8 magic skill trees
7 of them will fallow the 7 elemental schools
and the last one will be focused on magic support abilities, like sorcery, inteligenc or counter spell (I would welcome this abylitie back from Heroes V)

Their presentation video showed some frames from the Heroes VI announcement trailer. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
Rayman Origins is the first game presented.
Driver: San Francisco follows.
Far Cry 3 gameplay was shown.
A new Brothers in Arms title and the Adventures of Tin Tin.
They HAVE to show something related to Might and Magic since they're putting an emphasis on Ubisoft's 25 year anniversary.
Stay away from Ghost Recon. :|
Nope, nothing related to Might and Magic.

Not unless Fireball costs double mana to cast than Firebolt.....

Maybe the dilemma is whether to spend skill points on upgrading firebolt to fireball, or on one of the other skill trees instead. Or do you know for sure that you automatically upgrade at level 10?

Fireball and Firebolt are two different spells, you don't upgrade the one to get the other.....

2 new ones today:
--
Fire Magic
Rank 1 ability (3 ranks available) Fire Magic is more efficient.
Passive ability.
--
Frenzy
Rank 3 Ability Target ally or enemy stack instantly attacks the nearest stack with increased Damage.
Does not consume the target's action for the current turn.
--
So i guess the "X Magic" skills will take 3/14 (14 for earth, might be different for others) slots.
That is why there seemed to be too many spells. (It still is a nice ammount)

I really like this version of the spell Frenzy. Nobody enjoys not controlling their creatures, and this spell doesn't consume the creature's turn. In addition, instead of doing double damage it only says "increased" damage. I bet it's somewhere around 1.5x damage.
This is a nice change
