Fan Fic Game

First – Happy Holidays to everybody!
Second – I’m really sorry if there are some mistakes or incorrect tenses and so on, I’m not a native speaker, I did my best.
Third – Now I’m going to explain what exactly this game is. If you want to participate, you have to write which character you would want to be. Because of the holidays I can’t post the “letters” before the second or third of January. About that time I’ll see who wants to play (please, if a character is already taken, don’t choose him, that will make things harder) and I’ll send with personal message the letter that that character got. Then you have to write within a week your own Fan Fic with the choice that that character made (because all of the letters will ask for you to choose something, but they are all going to be different from each other). Hope it sounds fun to you.

Zehir was walking down the hall, thinking about everything. Being First of the Circle was a really boring job to do. Zehir was wondering how his father managed to do it for so long. But after all his father got himself killed. The wizard went in to his room and saw something really disturbing. A sheet of paper was floating over his desk glowing.
“What the… If those old wizards are playing a stupid joke…”
But he knew that that wasn’t it. He went near, trying to feel the letter without reading it. It worked this time but Zehir wished it hadn’t.

Arantir was packing up. He had finally found the trail that he was looking for. He had finally found the Messiah. Sure, they were many years to pass before the Prophecy would become true but he had the patience. He only needed his knowledge and Asha’s power.
“Asha rules all.”
He said to himself. And then his plan went wrong. There was something on the table, something different from his parchments. It was glowing strangely and a sense of danger was coming out of it. Arantir looked around and used his staff to search for living forms. There weren’t any. So he carefully opened the letter.
Character taken by Markkur.

Findan really had enough. The elves were getting on his nerves. The kingdom of Irollan was still without a king and Findan was still the favorite for that role. He kept refusing. Guarding the borders was a satisfying job for him. That day he was riding his unicorn deep in the forest, looking for inspiration for a poem. Nothing came to him. Then the light became stronger and blinded the elf and he fell on the ground. Next to him he found a strange piece of paper. It even smelled weird. Findan stood on his feet and picked up the letter with caution. He felt a chill when opening it.
Character taken by gnomes2169.

Freyda was sitting in front of the mirror, looking at herself. Any other woman at her place would adore herself but not the new queen. She was actually pretty scared, maybe because there was nowhere to put a sword in a wedding dress. Tomorrow she was going to get married which scared her, too. She had been in many wars and battles and she had never been so scared. She thought of her father Godric and immediately regretted about it. It only made her sadder and more lost.
“Do I really want this? Do I want a destiny like Isabel’s one? Do I really love the man that I’m going to marry?”
There were too many questions. She wanted answers and she wanted them quite fast. She reached for her tiara that should have been on the table next to her but her hand caught something else – a letter.
Character taken by Duncan.

Duncan was whistling with joy. For once he thought of his life nice. He loved his new life and future. He couldn’t wait for the next day. The man was walking down the hall, where the throne room was - his throne room. But before that he wanted to see his beloved girl. He knocked on Freyda’s door but there was no answer. He knocked again.
“Hello? Is anybody there?”
Nothing happened. He was about to open the locked door with force when he saw that something was coming out from under the door. It looked like a letter. Duncan picked it up and thought that is was from Freyda and that she was mad with him for something. How wrong he was.
Character taken by Duncan.

Wulfstan had a really nice time last night. Too bad he couldn’t remember anything. It had something to do with Duncan getting married.
“Oh, that’s right!”
The dwarf exclaimed. Duncan’s and Freyda’s wedding was tomorrow. It was too bad that Wulfstan couldn’t go because he still had many things to do in Grimheim. Thinking of that he stepped on something and almost slipped. He looked at his feet and saw a tiny bit of paper – a letter.
Character taken by LordGodric.

Gotai also had a really nice night and he also couldn’t remember it. Being khan and all he had a lot of those moments. Actually just being orc was enough to have moments like that. Gotai swung his battle ax and felt good about it. There had to be something to kill somewhere. Sadly he only saw something on the ground that was glowing.
“Why shiny letter here?”
Character taken by PeterFarkas.

Kujin was running down the camp. She had had an awful dream and she knew that it was going to become true. She had seen everything so clear but after all she was the Daughter of Dreams. She suddenly stopped. She felt it so clear just like in the dream. That strange energy was floating near her. Was it a shade, or maybe a ghost? She turned slowly but there wasn’t anything behind her or anyone. All the orcs had vanished within a second. A strange glow filled the air. Kujin woke up. There was a letter in her hand.
Character taken by PeterFarkas.

Ylaya was standing alone in a dark cave. She was trying to connect with Malassa but she couldn’t. The Goddess refused to talk to her for weeks. There was something wrong. The Keeper of the Law didn’t know what but she wanted to find out. The worst thing was that she was alone and that no one could help her. She knew what she needed to do. She had done it before, she could do it again. She hoped so. There was too much unrest in Ygg Chal. She felt something very wrong in the energy around her and then she saw the floating letter next to her. If she was smart, she would leave it there. But she didn’t.
Character taken by gnomes2169.

Isabel was standing alone in a huge valley. In the horizon behind her stood the castle in which she was living. Every day she went outside and waited. Nothing happened, nothing. She didn’t live alone; there were many servants with her but she felt lonely all the time. There was someone missing.
“Oh, where are you, my love?”
She said silently. Again nothing happened. Deep down she could feel it – he wasn’t going to come. Not now, not ever. Isabel sat down in the grass and buried her face in her hands. When she put them away she saw a mysterious letter in front of her.
Character taken by KuzAnn.

Raelag was walking in the middle of nowhere. There wasn’t any road, there wasn’t actually anything. There was only a portal far behind him. The dark elf was again looking for Tieru’s spirit; he was again looking for guidance. But this time Tieru’s soul was really nowhere to be found. It had vanished. Raelag looked around with a sad expression. All that went for nothing. But then he saw the letter in the dust.

Are we free to make the character what we want or do they have to be true to the HoMM lore?

Well, you're free to write whatever you want after you make the "decision". It depends only on you. But yes, being true to the lore is needed (unless you have a really good other idea).

Well. I'm not a campaigner so that might cut me out. However I'll keep an eye on this and if you end up gettin the number you want,I will dig up the story-line and use it as a reference. I was thinking about being Arantir.

Edit= This looks like it would be a lot of fun. I like the letter idea. Should be a great start.

I thought about joining but I'm not a campaigner either so I'm not really familiar with the characters.

Maybe if I could be Sareth, I'm might join since he is the only one I really know.

It's not hard to be Arantir - you pretty much only have to be obsessed with Asha, knowledge and the Dark Messiah. If you want to play, I'll describe for you Arantir's storyline and skills.

Sareth is pretty much a little kid when the actions of the Fan Fic happen. Arantir has just found him and he was heading that way but it is said that they are many years to pass. Sareth can interfere (still as a kid, unless it's some vision of the future) in the Fics abour Arantir, Zehir, Izabel and Raelag because of the connection with them. As a vision he can appear in the fics of Arantir and Zehir again but also Yliai and Kujin.

You answered my question. So you are only wanting us to know the character descriptions as they have been told. So knowing what they did in the storyline is not important to what you are wanting to do correct?

Anyway I found this that gives me a good feel for the Character.

Arantir (Campaign Hero)
The lords of Heresh are a cold, grim, and fanatic group. To climb high in their ranks requires not only talent, but also relentless dedication to the cause of their god, the spider-aspect of Asha. Arantir has risen high indeed, and counts as one of the greatest ever to live -- or unlive -- among them. Intense in his beliefs and dedicated to the worship of his goddess and the destruction of her demonic enemies, Arantir is a formidable leader.
» Specialty » Attributes
Avatar Of Death
The Hero can summon a mysterious creature upon the battlefield to fight on his side. The creature's power depends on the Hero's level. If this creature dies, the Hero will lose all his Mana points.
» Skills
Basic Necromancy
Unique Necromancer's skill. Allows a Necromancer to raise 20% of fallen enemy living creatures as own soldiers (A limited number of creatures can be raised per week). Influences the number of dark energy points.
Basic Summoning Magic
Allows hero to learn Summoning Magic spells of the third circle and makes Summoning Magic more effective overall.
Basic Dark Magic
Allows hero to learn Dark Magic spells of the third circle and makes Dark Magic more effective overall.

I thought this site might come in handy to help get others on board. Here is a site where all the heroes characters etc. are listed.

Well, it the campaigns there was a vampire Giovanni and his apprentice - Ornella and they were trying to win Arantir's sympathy. Actually Giovanni tried to kill him but got himself killed instead. Ornella became a necromancer and an ally to Arantir. He sacrificed her life to open a gate to a demon cultist town in the Empire. There he fried part of Isabel's soul (she's the main character). He met along the way Kujin and showed knowledge of the orcs' culture. In Dark Messiah he's become pretty mad with the idea of stopping the demons. He got killed by the Messiah. Anyway you are free to write whatever you want. I've already written Arantir's letter, so if you want it, I'll send it to you.

So all of this is going to be important to your story-line then. If I know where all of his story is located, I can do the rest. Where did you get that info or are you remmbering it all?

Anyway, I am good at creating but I would really rather at least try to adhere to what it is you want. So does combining what I found and what you wrote give the complete picture for Arantir? If it does then I would recommend you do that legword for each of the characters and then others I would imagine would join-in, because of being able to see the 'recipe' so to speak for their character, and then be able to use it as a guide as we go along.

Ever heard of game-books? In them the character is the reader and he actually makes the choices and so on. This is a Fan Fic Game, I only gave the basic stuff, the ones who want to participate should do the rest. After all it's Heroes Universe there are so many stuff that one can do. Just be creative. Guide your character, help him, kill him, it's up to you. The things that I wrote about Arantir (I remember them all, just love the story) are just for information if you want to use some of them because the "letter" has to do something with the story-line. But you are free do to everything, including not following the character characteristics. The only rule is to do it in Heroes Universe, like I said the rest is just up to you. I that case it will be more interesting to read the fics.

No. Never done this before. I've done stuff like this, that is why I was making sure I understood exactly what you were wanting.

Anyway you can count me in. Hopefully others will just jump in and give it a go. It sounds like fun. You actually beat me to the punch. I have seen similar stuff here but I am only interested in something HoMM-like. So I started drawing out a story-idea too.

I assume you don't want the letter-content known by anyone esle. How do you want to do the letters? Is HCM able to handle them?

I've already sent you your one. They aren't actually something long, they look more like rhymed prophecies. After you've done your own Fan Fic and posted it, if you want, you can post the letter itself. If not, in your Fan Fic it should be mentioned what choice did your character made. Why did he do that isn't needed.

"This is a letter from the lands of the Void
Decision to make - you can't avoid
To stop the enemy big
Or to save the friend in need"

Arantir looks around his chamber again as his arm slowly lowers and his boney hand crumples the letter.

"Malrue!", echoes down an unlit hallway. A sound like a soft-blowing wind comes up the corridor to the cavernous room where the pacing Necromancer awaits his servant.
"Yes my Lord Arantir" utters the ghost from behind a foggy cloak with swirling traces of sickly green and purple vapors.
Arantir holds up his doubled fist, directly in front of his glaring dark eyes; "How did this get on my table?"
"Master. I know not of what you speak", replies the perplexed spectre. He silently motioned behind him, telling several approaching zombie guards to leave.

"Well, how lovely. You are the captain of my guard and neither you nor your guards appear to be able to guard! This!" he tossed the wad of paper onto a long table adorned with unseen Bone Dragons. Only the dim moonlight filtering in through the room's tall, thin windows provided any light. With a wave of his hand, the letter quickly unfolds flat. Malrue floats over to it and reads the intruder’s message.
“I am sorry master but I do not know how it got here. If a person had been seen, I would have known. It is not my wish to fail you.”
Arantir shook his head. "Take it to the pit and burn it. I want no trace of it left." Malrue obeys and makes his way out of the room.

"Wait" the ghost halts. Arantir’s voices softens but a commanding tone yet fills the room. "Giovanni is still active somewhere in the land and he is nearly as powerful as I. You must be ready for anything Mal...there will be no second chances. Remember my servant, when you protect me; you protect yourself.”

"We will not err again my Lord. I will double our watchers.”
Arantir replied in a gruff tone “we will see“. Malrue turned to leave but then paused and instead asked; "what will you do Master?"
"I think you know. I either continue to fight Her enemies or stop and free a loyal Necromancer "
Malrue turned and resumed his trip to the dungeon fire down below.
Arantir walked out of the main entrance to Castle Shagaratki, through a very old inner court. Rot would reek strong to a live nose. The smell of damp earth and stale air trapped in the low-lying bogs hung low to the ground like the green mists that walled the Necromancer keep.
He stopped on top of a hill where his cloak snapped about in the brisk wind and looked out across the nearby land to the stormy skies in the distance. He stood motionless in an unthinking trance.

"My LadyLord I will not fail you, this is merely a delay." Then, with a stamp of his staff on the hard ground below, that briefly echoed on nearby moss covered rocks..."I am coming Vladimir. "

Don't kill my letter!!! I really love that part. Anyway your text is really cool and interesting, hope you expand it. There are some moments that I don't get (maybe it's my fault, I'm not saying anything bad)

Quote:

"We will not err again my Lord.

I fight Her enemies or free a loyal Necromancer "

"My LadyLord I will not fail you, this is merely a delay." "I am coming Vladimir. "

And now to the other thing... There are so many participants, that I need to add new heroes (yeah, right). So as I can clearly see there isn't that much of an interest. No fans of Heroes V with ideas?
I'll post the beginning of every "letter" but the rest of it is different for every character and you can only know what if you play. I don't want to participate in this so early so I could not take a character that someone else wants.

"This is a letter from the lands of the Void
Decision to make - you can't avoid
To stop the enemy big
Or to save the friend in need"

About the last part of the beginning - for each character is either about foe or someone close to them. But if you want to combine both, go ahead, it will only make it more interesting.

Hi!

This idea is truly awesome, if I had seen it earlier, it wouldn't have taken this much time to reply.
I don't know yet, which character I would choose because I have ideas for more of them and I don't want to pick someone's true favorite (there is a possibility for that)

But after all, I hope the game will start and then, you can count on me definitely.

This would be a great start for a new year

Have a nice day,
PF

P.S. If you would like to, I'll send you a PM about what characters I would like to pick.

Gotai

What I had just wanted. Something to kill. But in fact it was not quite the thing I hoped for.

As I read the letter again and again, hardly being able to believe my eyes, my fury rose, my blood was like hellfire and it was really hard not to chop the nearest tent. I threw my axe to the ground.
“Father Sky!” I yelled.

If this had been just true... Who could have been such an idiot to bring back Alaric? How many times does insanity have to die? I crinkled the shiny letter. I did not want to see it again. First, I thought about speaking with Kujin. But probably, she wouldn’t be able to understand what Quroq had meant to me. And this way, she wouldn’t understand what Alaric was for me. Or is he again?
Things and thought flew around my mind and I was forced to put them in order. Orcs pick their fights. Everyone picks his own fight. No one can tell Orcs who to fight. I was Khan. And that meant more than some celebration. It meant more than babies and uniting the tribes. It also meant to protect my people. And if Alaric was free again, I had to lead my people into battle. Just like Kunyak had done.

And also, Kunyak was not afraid of anything. Not afraid that he would die. He only had freedom, the desire of his people in his mind. And now, it is a fight for freedom and our safety. For the safety of our children. For the safety of our future. If I pass away, I know there will be someone to follow my footsteps. I knew I wasn’t allowed to hesitate.

I picked up my axe and blew the horns, calling the warriors around me. As they were gathering around me, I wondered who had been able to commit this crime. Suddenly, I remembered Kujin’s spider omen. And I remembered the stinking men who tried to defeat me. They were able to call soldiers from the dead. I was quite sure that it had to be one of them. If they were… I was ready to break their bones and send them to death again and again until nothing remains from them than dust. And I hoped my people were ready for it, too.

“Warriors!” I cried out loud as I saw that many had come. “Our lands are in danger again! Alaric walking! Remember who kill Khenghi! Who kill Quroq Khan! If you want children safe, come with me! We’re going spider stompin’!” I raised my axe and they responded by doing the same.
And at the same time, I already felt sorry for the ones who are going to fall, in order to protect their families and their tribes.
