At least, in some point there should have a dialog between the characters...

Sure! Been on my mind as well It would be like putting all the pieces of a puzzle together. I'm afraid without it, i.e. to continue our own story-telling, would become monotonous after several rounds and perhaps even dull. Clash of characters will add a new spice to this whole game. I'm still thinking how to tackle it though, since practically it will be more difficult making up conversations of two minds and putting them into an agreeable storyline. HCM me if you have any idea

However, I would also like to delay such an "encounter" so not to make it too soon, in order to give us rooms for creativity and space to build up each character. Or perhaps we'll just leave it to evinin, our puppet master (lol), to decide when some characters would meet.

and I have to congratulate you, evinin, for this excelent idiea!

Yep! And like everybody said, you all contributed well and making it enjoyable for all. This is one of many threads here that - unlike others, where people easily bash at each other just because they differ in opinions - sets a good example of teamwork, encouragement, and positive feedbacks

Again some notes...
Duncan, Godric - I'm not going to interfere in your plans about the meeting of the characters (I'll try to avoid that in the narrative). I'll leave that to you and do it as you like it.
About the narrative - I'll probably post in the late hours of Monday (late for me, though) but don't worry - you will have your narratives on time.
And I still didn't get any reference about the fictional character that all participants can use. I want to know what you think about that because I need to know what do to - create that character or not. I explained more in third page.

Acknowledged. How about the other characters that have not been taken, Freyda, for example? Can I use it or should we wait for possibly more players? Thing is, I have to mention her one way or another, and although I'm not writing her fan fic, I could not entirely escape the linkage between her and Duncan. I'm afraid I have already limited her space (Duncan was unable to track her, she went alone etc.) that to some extent might set boundaries for her storyline. I propose we set a date that if by then no more players joining, we are free to assume the left-out characters.

I say it'd be a great idea! I'm out of suggestion though, but since it'll be entirely fictional, just forget about references. Create anything you like, I'm sure you already have something on your mind when you tossed this idea

I'm working on a new fictional character. This character should be really powerful (and mysterious) but also an insane freak. The character would like helping others much so all of you can use him (without cooperating with me or each other). I'm going to make the character enough powerful and enough moody to help (or be against) all of you. I'll be ready with the character probably next week. Any interest? (it's like a link between all of the story lines but still letting them be separate)

Sorry, I thought you'd decided on this already. I'd largely focus on that. Here's an idea;

Is there a character in the "larger World of HoMM" that you could bring back for this role?

This character could also have been the sender of all of our letters for some mad reason. Or just because he/she just wanted to see the world at war again? Sandro is still around right? Just for this tale he could be written with a twist of purpose.

I thought of that (the idea of the character actually being the reason for all the summoning and all the other problems). A she actually (the Phoenix lady that Zehir mentions). Like I said - fell free to do as you like. I'll just say some things in my next Fic about the character and describe her (but only the outside looks of her). Then she will be free for all of you. You can use her as a character from the old games (I'm not familiar with the campaigns of HOMM1, HOMM2 and HOMM3 but you can use characters from there as well). The main idea is that it won't matter what someone of you will say about her, you don't have to try making her the same in all of the Fics, you can do what you like. I'm really trying to say what I want right and I hope that I did make it clear.

I never write without forgetting something... About the deadline (the time when you can choose another character to play with) - I still think that it's early. But still - I give two more weeks and that's it. Duncan, I'll give you what to do, don't worry, Freyda wont be that much of a problem for you. Anyway, you have other things to do. That goes for all.

count on me.
Agreed, I think, for now at least, Wulfstan and Duncan should keep in touch trough messengers, letters... (Shall we give Rutger some work?) So one say the message in his fic chapiter, the other read and knows what the messager has to say, and reply... and so on. What do you say?

Great! I tottally agree with that and i already got an use and an origin for her, at least in the dwarven opinion. Some good ideias poped out now... can't wait for tomorow!

I like this idea.

I have no idea how his story line ended, but would Agreal work for a character for those of us way the heck away from the Phoenix Lady?

... What?

Ok, then... But most of us don't know about the Phoenix Lady even... How would we find out?

And maybe someone else... I mean, she can't be everywhere at once. Hm... How about Valeria for the humans/ dwarves/ orcs, Ylaya for the dark elves, the Phoenix Lady for the wizards and Isabel and a person that you make up for the elves? Just throwing out some ideas here...

If the phonix lady is a uber powerful being, I don't see any problem in she being wherever she's needed...
Anyways Tieru's spirit could be the one for the elves... but i still prefer the phoenix lady.

And... Who's Valeria?
I didn't finish the last campaign of ToE, so, if she has something there please don't tell me... I'm not that much into spoilers.

I leave that up to you, my friend. Rutger is now in "your hand." Do anything you like with him I suggest for the time being (before our characters meet), whoever behind in submitting the fan fic should adjust accordingly to the already written one, doesn't matter with letters or actions. You did good by acknowledging Rutger in your story, so I will do the same should it happen at my turn.

Godric, Valeria is a normal character and part of Duncan's Fic.
Anyway, hope you find this week narrative "easy". It's actually early for me but I had time so...
Because you have to write your fourth Fic, Mark, Peter and gnomes, I made it a little bit different. The plan, the battle and the surprise are things that you have to make.

Arantir
“Poor Arantir… He has no clue what’s going to happen to him…” Giovanni started laughing hysterically as he put his disguise on.
“He will stop you! You will not succeed” Vladimir was desperately trying to free himself from the chains but with no success.
“How stupid… I will succeed, of course, he will fall for sure. He would really want to see his friend Vladimir… And then, in his sleep, something bad will happen…” Giovanni was almost ready. “And even if I fail, I have a back-up plan. That’s you.”
Events: None. The armies of Giovanni didn’t make any moves.

Gotai
“There are too much demons, my brave men! We will destroy them all! In the name of the Red church! I have an idea that will guide us to victory! The children of the demons will fight against the demons! We will make them do it!” The men cheered because of Alaric’s words.
Events: A Seraph came to Gotai’s camp. It told him about Alaric’s plan. There are no words about the other orcs.

Findan
“So disappointing… Hm? Don’t you think?” The Spectral Dragon didn’t say anything, of course. “So stupid of them… They will pay! I’ll tell my spy to lead them here” He pointed on the map. The Spectral Dragon nodded. “Hm? Was that a yes? Sure, it’s a yes. I’ll face them myself. Anyway, I’ll try something new. They won’t expect that for sure.”
Events: The elven scouts say that it looks like the Necromancers are planning something strange.

Duncan
Things did not look well. Both the Raven and the Wolf duchies rebelled against Duncan. There is still no news about Valeria. All of the towns in the two duchies are in Laszlo’s hands. It looks like some of the other duchies are also starting to rebel. Immediate actions should be taken.

Wulfstan
Rumors are that something strange happened in the forges in the South. Connection with the clan there was lost. Maybe it was nothing; maybe the old king really did rise. Nothing can be said for sure.
Events: One town was into someone else’s hands. A few messengers from all around the dwarven kingdom requested to see the king. A couple of caravans are said to be attacked by wolves.

((Sorry if this one is a little long, but, well, Gnomes feels creative tonight ))

Lethos stood next to his best assassin. "Do you think that they would really..." his assassin began.

"If you knew Markal at all, you should know that this would almost be a sane act on his behalf." They looked at the massive obsidian structure that was being constructed by tireless undead workers. "Look at those amplifying runes, look at the amount of litches and necromancers standing down there, look at what the structure that this portal is made out of." Lethos gestured to the ravine that the undead toiled in. "If that isn't going to be a portal to Sheogh, then I don't have a clue what is."

The both sat there for a few seconds. "Come, Derelin, we 'must' report this to our 'higher ups'." both dark elves melted back into the shadows.
_________________________________________________________

"Now, Wyngaal, you can tell us about anything you saw, right?" Findan asked his friend. The elf nodded slowly. "Then tell me this, why are your eyes glowing blue?"

The haunted expression on Wyngaal's face returned. It, in fact, had been there for a total of three days, ever since Eruina had dragged the poor young elf off. Whatever had happened to him after that was between Eruina and him, because Wyngaal, usually known as a talkative joker who gambled perhaps a little too much, hadn't spoken to anyone since then. Findan was beginning to wonder if Wyngaal had gambled away his own soul.

"Alright, that is enough, Wyngaal. I command you to tell me what happened as your king!"

"You aren't my king yet." Wyngaal said hollowly. Even this was an improvement... Unfortunately. "You have no right to command me."

For a second, Findan was silent. "Then how about asking you as a friend?" He said softly.

A flicker of doubt and pain flashed across Wyngaal's face as well as a flash of rage. Findan braced himself for an attack, but Wyngaal just sat back in his chair. The look of defeat in the ranger's eyes almost was enough to depress Findan and Ossir as well. For a minute or two, all three were silent.

"Tell me, Findan, have you ever seen the queen of darkness?" Wyngaal asked.

Instantly, Ossir pulled his bow off of his shoulders and knocked an arrow. "Where is she? I'll kill her! She should have known better then to-" Ossir was cut off by Wyngaal's blade pressing against his throat and a blast of fire singing off a section of Ossir's hair.

"Never! Threaten her! Never! Do you understand me, Ossir!" And then Wyngaal felt Findan's blade against his back, and seemed to come back to his senses. Wyngaal dropped his blade, and the arcane fury in his eyes ebbed. "I am sorry, Ossir, I-"

"No." Ossir's voice was almost dead. "No excuses. You've become one of them. A traitor to our people and everything we stand for. And to think that I once called you 'friend'. That I once thought of you as my brother. You sicken me." Ossir stormed out of the tent, cursing everything and everyone he could think of in every way imaginable. The other two elven heroes stood silently until his curses and threats died out.

"My king-" Wyngaal began.

"How do I know that he isn't right?" Findan whispered. "How do I know that I can trust you anymore?"

The shock and betrayal coming from Wyngaal almost made Findan take back his words. "My... My king... I..." Wyngaal pulled himself back together a little bit. "I am till the same man who saved you in the demon wars. I am still the same man who stood beside you the first time Markal tried to rise to power. I am still the same man who would die a thousand deaths for you, if only to make sure that you wouls come home safely." Almost desperately, he added, "I am still you friend and brother!"

Findan hated himself for saying these next words, but he knew that he had to. "I don't know if that is still true. I don't know if you are lying to me now." He paused, struggling with if he should say the last pare or not. "I cannot trust you anymore, Wyngaal. I am sorry." Findan couldn't even look his friend in the eye. "Go home. You are a-"

An explosion cut him off. Wyngaal was instantly at the door, and the little color in his face quickly drained. "Eruina." He whispered, and then Wyngaal was running, not caring about the war zone around him.

Findan followed Wyngal immediately, and saw Sinitar and Eruina fighting one another in an arcane death match.
________________________________________________________

It had started as only a little bit of tension.

"What do you think that you are doing here, scarred one?" Eruina had asked him.

"Watching you perform your heathen rituals, 'High' one." Sinitar had responded with open malice.

"Watch your tongue, male, or I might just ask Malassa to remove it the next time you commune with her." Eruina had responded smugly.

Arcane fury had blazed in Sinitar's eyes. "What did you say, witch?"

"That a lowly male such as yourself should not try to rise above his station!" She snapped.

"That is IT!" Sinitar's resolve finally snapped. "I will show you why NO ONE! DARES challenge a Warlock and lives to tell!" Fire had sprung to his hands.

"You would dare threaten the life of your better?!" Eruina cried out at him. "You insufferable maggot! You are a blight on this world that's purging is long overdue!"

And that is how their battle had started.
______________________________________________________

Another earth-shaking blast of fire smashed against Eruina's wall of ice, shattering it instead of consuming its true target. Eruina threw back a blast of darkness, which another fireball burned away. None of the other elves could get close enough to stop either of them, and the few that had tried lay dead, comatose or mad in front of the others.

Wyngaal ran straight into this, despite Findan yelling for his friend to stop. The only effect that this had on Wyngaal was to clear his head of emotional ties. He dodged the stray blasts of magic that flew past him and positioned himself in between both combatants, throwing his hands up into the air. The effect was instantaneous as blinding light engulfed the entire camp. Dazed elves picked themselves up off of the ground and stared at Wyngaal in awe.

Wyngaal's eyes were no longer glowing blue, but a bright white instead. He lowered both hands to his sides and commanded the two combatants, "Never do this again."

Sinitar, his formidable magics having been penetrated, only nodded in shock. Eruina could only look at what she had helped to create in amazement. Findan could understand why.

Wyngaal's eyes were not the only thing that had changed. His hair was also the same incandescent white that glowed in his eyes, not the original brown it had been. His posture was no longer that of a stooped over tracker, but that of a king, and he carried himself like one for a second, before he faded back to the man he had been a few seconds before.

"Eruina." He called out, running to her side. "Are you hurt? Did-"

"How did you do that?" She asked him.

And then Lethos arrived.
_____________________________________________________

They let the news sink in.

"A portal to Sheogh?!" Findan cried out. "Are you absolutely certain?"

"Yes, evlen king. Dead certain." Lethos responded bitterly. "So d@mn certain that if it isn't, I will gladly give the Demon Sovereign my soul this instant." He paused for a second. "I still have my soul. It's a demon portal."

"You dare take that tone with the king?!" Ossir yelled out at the assassin.

"Oss-" Findan cautioned.

"I'll take whatever tone I feel like, boy! What are you going to do about it!" Lethos countered.

"Leth-!" Findan yelled.

"What will I do about it?! I'll cut your black heart out of your chest you monster!" Ossir yelled over Findan.

"I'd like to see you try." Lethos growled. Both instantly had their hands at their weapons, but Wyngaal Sinitar and Eruina had them beaten, and they glared at each other with the backdrop of magic behind them and blades on their chests.

Findan barked, "STOP IT! BOTH OF YOU!" They turned to him, as if noticing the others who were around them for the first time. "What is wrong with you two?"

"We will finish this at a... better time, Ossir. Then, I will prove to you that I am our better, not the other way around." Lethos whispered.

"I can't wait." Ossir growled back.

"Findan, if you would get our troops ready," The assassin said, not taking his eyes off of Ossir long enough to blink, "I will lead you to the portal so that we can destroy it." He leaned in close to Ossir. "We will finish this after that."

"As you wish."
__________________________________________________

Markal chuckled to himself. These fools were too easy to manipulate, their emotions as firm as the sands in his ever flowing hourglass. He turned to the spectral dragon, "You will soon feast, my pet. Do not worry." Markal was almost reassuring himself. What had happened to Wyngaal?

"Not one of them will escape this trap."
_________________________________________________

The elven attack plan was rather simple. Run in, break the portal and then run out. This is what Markal had planned for. The fact that Sinitar was attacking from the north with only a few of the dark elves to protect him only helped Markal even more. The elves had launched their pathetic attack, actually destroying the demon portal before they realized that they were trapped by the undead who closed in all around them.

Markal moved off of his throne to take the field personally, mounting his dragon to do so.

"Away, my pet! There are souls for you to devour." Wyngaal's strange new power hadn't re-materialized yet, so Markal was still moderately wary of the situation. Best not to underestimate your enemy.
________________________________________________

the attack had gone well, until more necromancers had shown up behind Findan's forces and began to crush him and his men between the two sprawling undead armies. Warlock, druid and light magic was constantly crashing around him in a deafening din, drowning our the cries of the dieing and combat.

The gate finally fell, and Findan ordered the rags of his troops to pull back when, almost as one, they fell to the ground, dead. The heroes who had accompanied him on this journey rallied around him, and Findan stood ready to make his last stand one to remember. Lethos joined them last, and a small fraction of the undead fell to dust on the battle field. The last thing anyone said that day was him, and the word he spoke was, "Four."

Findan smiled to himself as the Spectral Dragon landed with its rider in front of him. Four necromancers obliterated because of this feeble attempt to stop the Death god. Even if they fell, Markal would feel the pain of these losses for a long, long time. A flash of magic from Sinitar's flank and another group of undead crumbled to ash.

Five.

"Fools!" Markal called out to the lone heroes. Another blast of magic and more of the undead fell to ash. Six. "Did you really think that you, with you pathetic magics and you weak blades," Seven, "could best ME? No, you never did, did you, Findan? You knew that you would die on this fool's errand." Eight. Markal gave the dark elves an annoyed look. "Stop that." Instantly, they felt the powerful magic that they commanded run dry, drained by an off-handed command from Markal. Black tendrils held both of them to the ground.

"Thank you." The undead had also stopped advancing on the heroes. "Now, as I was saying," Ossir shot at Markal. The arrow stopped twenty meters away from its intended target. "Pathetic." Ossir drew both of his blades and threw himself at the Death God. "Hmph. What a waste." Markal held up his palm and sent out a blast of death energy that tore Ossir's soul from his body.

"NO!" Findan cried out before the creeping black tendrils dragged him to the ground as well.

"You murdering b@stard!" Lethos cried out, "He was supposed to be mine!"

"Hmph. So you are strong enough to talk still? Impressive. But no matter how powerful you are, it is over now. Struggle if you want to, but nothing you do will chang-" He was cut off as Wyngaal transformed again.

"Hello, traitor." Wyngaal spoke to the Death God. "Remember me? do you remember how we agreed to escape together?"

Markal, somewhat surprised mumbled, "Micheal."

"That's right." The angel general spoke through Wyngaal. "I'm back as well." It gave him a slightly amused stare. "You should not have betrayed me, Markal. I forgive nothing."

"Hmph, no matter how strong you are, arch angel, you are no match for-" Markal found himself talking to thin air as the surviving heroes disappeared in a flash of light. "D@mn." He hissed. "And I was so close... Ah well. I still have you, don't I my traitorous little Death Knight?"

Ossir pushed himself off of the ground and laughed evilly. "Yes, master. You do, as you have since your return."

"Good." Markal looked at the cliff where Sinitar still fought desperately against the undead. "And maybe I will have a new Litch King to go with you soon."

Ossir sneered. "Right. Whatever you command, master."
________________________________________________________

Sinitar's last two men stood by him, firing the last of their bolts and pulling out their daggers as more and more of the undead poured into the cliff's indent that Sinitar had holed himself up in. He could feel his magics running dry as well, and knew that this would be his last chance to do the most damage that he could. With one look, his men understood his orders and ran up the cliffs, leaving Sinitar to cast his final spell and get out of the blast zone.

Sinitar smiled to himself as the Vampires moved in to kill him. Fools. It is my hand, not yours, that will end my life. Sinitar had not expected to survive this war anyway. He had wanted his last deed to be dieing as a hero against the true monsters of this world.

He cast his final empowered spell. Perhaps I should have killed that traitor Ossir when I had the chance and incinerated his body... But that does not matter now, I guess. A giant meteor fell through the atmosphere towards the center of the undead forces.

And though he had the blades of the Vampires cutting into his flesh and rammed into his chest, the last thing Sinitar did was smile, remove his mask and praise Malassa.

The Armageddon spell crashed into the earth, obliterating every living and undead thing not standing next to Markal. Sinitar died the hero he wanted.

And Markal raised him back into the monster he had feared that he had become.

The two scouts found the heroes a day later, almost all of them too exhausted to notice the pair of dark elves as they returned to the group.

Derelin found the fact that someone was still alive very surprising.

So did they.

Extremely interesting and impressive, gnomes! I almost felt sorry for Ossir (which is a big thing because I almost never care about the characters that die and suffer). I didn't quite get the Michael part. And just a note - Markal is not Death God but Death Lord. It doesn't matter much.

Oh, yes, new characters. Wonderful!
Let the ideas flow around!
I can hardly keep up with the constantly shifting events around all Ashan, which is a great thing IMO - even if I continue my pure, orcish, headstrong way

Anyway, if I'll have a little more time than I have now, I'll send some OC's for you, evinin, and you may decide upon their fate

I'm working on my chapter, but probably I will not be able to finish it until Wednesday.

Have a nice day and show us what you've got!
PF

P.S. for all schoolboys and -girls. Be glad that you're in there. IMO later it just s-cks more in many ways.

People, hi,
i have 2 questions. one, two.

first: If the name is "Holy Griffin Empire" or "Unichorn Empire" why they have Kings/Queens (queen Isabel, king nicolai...) and not Emperors/Empresses?

Second: do someone remenber the name of the capital of Grinheim?

thanks averyone.

The Griffin Empire became the Unicorn Empire. The queen and king are Freyda and Duncan. For the capitol - see in www.heroesofmightandmagic.com or in Ashan's map (just right in Google "map Ashan".

I haven't thought of that but in the game it's an Empire with king so use it like that.
