Please set Debug=1 in heroes3.ini and upload eralog.txt after game run. It won't solve the problem, but I will probably run a small debugging utility.

I've just downloaded Era ii and i noticed:
1- The emissaries and commanders are missing in the map editor's monster section. Also some buildings (including the emissary ones) cause the editor to crash. You can't apply the new objects v1.09 (found here: http://www.maps4heroes.com/heroes3/in_the_wake_of_gods.php) to Era II version of the game. The map editor wont open at all if you do.
2- The object editor in the start menu won't open and gives a message about a missing component.
3- I have a portrait manager app which works fine with the older installed wog version of the game yet it also does not open at all with Era II.
I really want to switch to this version of the game, it looks neat and its probably less buggy but it seems many things are not compatible with it yet. These 3 issues are the first ones i discovered. Please tell me if there are any solutions to them. Sorry if my questions are already answered, this is quite a long thread to read all over.

Hi, unfortunately, any old mods (that are not converted) at least should not be installed over ERA. ERA has it's own modding system. There is this folder called "Mods" in your game directory, which, obviously, contains all the mods (like WoG). On this thread here you may find all the current mods and maps for ERA.
Having it's own folder for all the mods is a huge, great step of progress in Heroes 3 modding, since it doesn't mess with the original game's files.
And btw, from that thread I linked, you should find the new objects patch 1.9 mod for ERA. As I understand it's the same as the one in the maps4heroes site, except a newer version (correct me if I'm wrong). Try that instead of the one from maps4heroes .

A-tan, thanks, seems that I'm quite near the solution. By some unknown reason, the folders are not recognized as folders.
Era.dll
artu,
1) They will be added in the next version, but not in the near future. Not a problem, because, afair, New Objects Patch also includes them.
2) Check Era 2 Mods/Maps thread: New Objects Patch.
3) Check Era 2 Mods/Maps thread: Portrait Manager.
