Yeah I guess so, but cannon is better in battle.

Hehe, so much for balance... but 5000GP is also a factor. I dunno if the plans for unique warmachines are still in progress, but I think it isn't a priority if so.

Yeah I know, I'm a balance freak. Unique war machines?, like different designs or? No does'nt sound very important and sounds like a lot of work for 10 towns and 5 war machines.

The cannon is essentially an upgraded ballista except for some minor differences, but you also have to factor in that there's a lot more ballista specialists that comes with their own ballista, yet there's only one Jeremy. So, for example, you're much more likely to find the ballista in the tavern than the cannon=Jeremy. And having the ballista in your army, even without artillery, can be very good because it has a lot of HP and has thus the potential to soak up attacks and provide some control over neutral. I'm just basically saying that you have to look at the whole picture and not just compare things in a vacuum. Also, talking about balance, the cannon/ballista speciality isn't early as important as the artillery skill is in itself.

Yeah but Jeremy can buy a cannon at his starting town, Cove, so it should'nt be hard for him to get a cannon. But I guess it's not so bad, when the cannon is more expensive than the ballista.

Sorry, I'm late cuz I had my thesis, but now I'm back.
NEW INFO ?
WOW, personal cannon, upgraded ballista...
Sounds all nice. But it still needs some work, so we know that we must wait a few months until the release.
Also, I though that a minor suggestion would just be welcome somehow. Would the trees got any animation ? Like in ERA/WoG ?

Hmm, I just... That's what I understood. Anyway, epic fail.
Also, back on the topic, I think there will be alternative creatures, for tactical purposes. I recommend the Crew to add the alternative creatures on the campaign too.
Another think, is there any possibility to add tree animation ?

I have an issue in SoD map TEW2 (saved under HoTA editor): tome of earth does not give town portal.
@Edit: found the reason, town portal spell was disabled in editor. In SoD the editor spell settings apply only to guilds and scrolls, not to tomes as source. Is this a bug or intended?

A 100% intended thing. With this you can ban certain spells (map control most oftenly) without the necessity to ban out all the artifacts that can unintentionally provide them. And if you NEED the spell to be available - just put a scroll or a scholar with it (or make it available in specific town guild).

Well ok then but IMO that was bad decision. This creates incompatibilities between HoTA and the majority of good SoD maps.
For a mapmaker is easier to ban a certain spell in editor instead of going through all 48 towns and do it manually.

There are many things in HotA which can create incompatibility with SoD maps. We can disable some gameplay changes for maps in RoE/AB/SoD format, so some advice about which changes most likely need to be disabled will be appreciated.

Before SoD we couldn't set spells availability in editor, but once it was possible, the quests for town portal or dimension door became quests for tomes, as the spell in itself is most often disabled. Maybe keep this for SoD format, if technically possible?
I see people started to report already in mapsforheroes about not being able to continue maps, therefore I started a test to see what's about (WT changes TP to fire school so I asked for version, he said hota)

Start reading the thread and stop making assumptions. Quoted directly from Nik on the PREVIOUS page:
Nik312 said: Alternative units are highly unlikely to appear in HotA as there is no adequate, natural realisation of that feature as well as no special need for it.
I'm not even going to adress "tactical purposes" or your suggestion about the campaign lol.....

I think this is a good thing, that way you can place tomes in a map without them giving access to forbidden spells. (Otherwise you would have to ban the tomes, giving less variation in artifact selection)
This is how it should have been right from the start.

The new system allow much less freedom and forces the mapmaker to take care of all possible sources. Before you could disable berserk (or whatever) in editor, give a tome to enable berserk for one battle, then ask the tome back via quest guard so berserk is gone. Now you, as mapmaker, will have to go through all pandoras, all scholars, all towns and all scrolls to be sure berserk will never be given.
Just an example of multiplied work time for the mapmaker. So I dunno if is better or no, but from all changes Hota does to SoD, this one only seems to me incompatible with previous maps; I think the other issues are manageable, but this one is not.

Well I'm just happy I can place the tomes to appear randomly now, giving me 4 more relics to chose between. Before I had all tomes banned or made it very hard to get to them.
I'm not sure about the new lvl. 4 shrines and pyramids though, can banned spells appear randomly in them? Think I'm gonna test this now...

I have first installed Heroes complete edition English version and after Hota last version aviable.
The game perfectly works as usual but I can’t start map editor. Is someone have an idea of what’s the problem and how to solve it ?
Here is the problem :

Never had any trouble running the editor, so what is wrong here is certainly not a bug. Also, there is a special thread for bug reports (as well as for suggestions), for the nth time.
