Not sure what you're talking about. Maybe you should read the question again.

does anyone know how to transform or convert a wog map to a hota map ?
You can try to remove all the WOG related stuff from the map at first and kinda downgrade the map to a SOD level. Then the Hota map editor should properly be able to open the file. You might want to to create a backup file before testing, thou. It will not be possible to just "force" Hota editor to read the WOG file, it will not work for sure, as the files are simply too different.
Thanks, that actually works. I didn't know you could choose the format in which to save the map, thus downgrading it.

I understand what you said. Now, the Plate reduces the Power of the enemy by 25%, so if enemy has 12 of power the reduction will be only 3 points and in that case it makes sense to keep a good power artifact on your chest. But if the enemy has 60 of power the reduction will be of 15, much more then any artifact will give you, so you should probably use the plate instead.
What I don't understand is why you would prefer other location. Not being a fan of defense myself, I don't even hesitate, if I have the Dragon Scale Armour that's what I keep in the chest.
Power scales quite strangely, if I only have one I would even trade a point of Attack for one more, if I have more then five I curse the skies every time I get it, since most battles will be resolved sooner. Of course, I don't even remember one time I have cast an Implosion. Berserk and Clone often, Meteor Shower and Chain Lightning on occasion but what I use is mostly is Slow, Haste, Blind and eventually Shield, Bless or Prayer and none of these gains much from a very high level of Power.

I totally agree, I just didn't got what you were referring to at first.

My initial purpose was to ask Hota team if they do understand what placing the artifact to the torso slot actually means.
I like that they're using a slot that has traditionally been used to increase stats only. But these kind of "anti-stat-items" would be far more effective, more pleasant to find and nicer to play with, if they would be placed into a correct slot. I mean if they would ever desing an item that would reduce the enemy knowledge, I wouldn't recommend putting it to the helmet slot.
The way I see it, the decision if you would rather personally have +5 spellpower or would your rather make your enemy lose 3 SP is kinda uninterresting. I would rather have both effects, and not need to decide between them. There would still be decision elsewhere, ofc, if the Plate of Dying Light would be in another slot instead, like in main hand/off hand/head so the player would rather need think if he would rather give up their attack/defence/knowledge in order to reduce enemy SP.

Alternative Units
By the way, does someone know if the alternative units in HotA are officially cancelled forever, or are they gonna make a return in the future (the first dev versions of HotA had alt. units)?

Well, they can always change their plans, but IIRC, a dev said here few years ago that they would not do it for all towns at least. Using alt creature(s) as a "special thing" for one new town was seen as a possibility back then, thou.

That's what I thought too. HoMM3 with that certain graphical style and camera would have been amazing (as a remaster). However, Ubisoft went cheap with HoMM7 and made a crappy game. Even though they wanted to make a "new HoMM3", they failed, because they just didn't keep the same feeling, atmosphere that the 3 has (and other countless stuff, like the skills, graphical style, their half-empty map, the color-lacking everything, etc.).
Anyway, I wish the HotA crew good luck. Hopefully they can pull it off and impress us.

The discussion about this "new game" have gone onwards during the day: Here's a link to the Russian forum.
There's a bunch of text but in short:
1) Development of Hota continues, and there's not such thing as "final version"
2) However, it seems that after the release of Factory, Hota will shift into state where the patches will become even less frequent, new content will be less of a priority, as they will be focusing on fixing bugs, balancing, remaking the old campaings, creating new maps and campaings, improving the map editor etc.
3) The "new game" that was hinted in the earlier posts is very long term plans, and talking about it now isn't even really worth it. It may not happen at all.
So that's kinda both good and bad news, I would say. They're still willing to continue the developement of Hota, but there will be a phase after the release of Factory where the patches should be expected to happen rarely. About the new content, I'm not too concerned, as this game is currently really solid already, and after Factory there will be so much new stuff to discover again.
I got to say that these kinds of news to my ears sound kinda the first steps towards the end of the developement, as they've been doing this for over ten years. But then again, I cannot think them not being pretty proud for what they've managed to achieve, and that kinda of feelings might push them to continue the developing the Hota for other +10 years

Nah, you misunderstood Docent. He only meant to say that a transition to such a phase will be inevitable at some point, but it is not something we are planning on doing immediately after the release of Factory.
In other words, the development of HotA will continue as usual until/unless announced otherwise.

Of course they can do whatever they want, I just hope they wont abandon HotA soon.

Full translated text (from HotA discord).
We consider it appropriate to continue to develop and support the HotA project to the bitter end until we become too old for this snow. Gradually, regardless of the development of events, HotA will move in to a phase where releases will become even less frequent, new content will become a lesser priority, and we will focus on fixing bugs (including visual ones), balancing, remaking original campaigns, adding new campaigns and maps, expanding capabilities of editors, etc. We will begin to do what our hands did not reach before because of time-consuming Factory.
As for involvement in development, you need to understand that HotA is an already working, lively game with its audience. Any attempts to create your own game even in the most optimistic scenario will take years to achieve at least a remotely comparable result. First of all, in terms of accessibility for players and gameplay diversity. In this situation, it would be irrational to put HotA on a second priority and trying to reach the crane when in our hands we have a fat little tit with happy eyes. So, there is no cause for concern in this case.
In general, discussions of any post-Factory prospects for the team now are premature. A constructive conversation about any activity outside HotA will only make sense after full announcements with details. It will not happen soon, and for a number of reasons it may not happen at all. All these hints that I have been smearing with a thin layer across the community for about a year and a half (but people start to take cognizance of them only now) are nothing more than probing the soil. As always, the idea first ripens for years in the kualars, then it is worked out and discussed, then it slowly begins to seep into the public field. And this is the very beginning of her journey."

Yeah, I think we all wish that they continue along with Hota. It's just somehow crazy to think they're still working with this project. Not only they're really passionate about the game, and somehow have worked with this over ten years, but also are able to produce their work with such level of quality. And still, they've not yet got any money out of it. Let's just say, that we have extremely lucky community.

HoTA is the only thing keeping the good old days of gaming for me alive. The idea that new content for Heroes 3 is always (hypothetically) in the making sure as hell means the world.
This being said, whatever you guys decide to take on at whatever point, I'm sure you have the loyalty and trust of thousands of people which will follow you there. I know I will.
Cheers to Hota guys!

yes! that sounds great.
basic learning: gives hero 50% chance to gain +1 primary skill on level-up
Your idea sounds great in general but scrap the "50% chance" we don't need RNG (in multiplayer) That's one reason why the original Resistance was crossed/replaced and this skill here would be really strong/weak depending on your luck. Basically you level up to level 6 (5 level ups) and can either have +10 primary skills or you could only have +5. That's not gonna happen.
