I think perhaps this is a bug, unless I'm missing something.

Fangarms should have unlimited retaliations, but retaliate only once since HotA 1.6.0

Here's also a video of the issue being reproduced: https://youtu.be/jIW7_lhNGMk

Thanks.

This isn't relating to any bug at hand (since all seems to be working perfectly for me, which is amazing) but I was just curious - can somebody explain to me what exactly happened in the almost 6 years between the projects first announcement and its first version? I mean, it started out as this massive thing with alternate units, three (if not four) new Castles, new artifacts and whatnot and now it has gone down to just one (two) Castles and no alternate units. And going by the few videos and screenshots that still remain, it seemed that at least Cathedral was fully finished and the alternate units were good to go.
I am not angry for never receiving Kronwerk or the Cathedral, I just want to satisfy my curiosity, the same curiosity that plagued a little 11-year-old boy first reading on these forums about HoTA and WOG 3.59.

Well usually I can change things back, but not this time.

That's the point. HotA is a multiplayer mod and they do not want you to be able to mod things to work how you want. It's all or nothing.

Three campaigns, complete with cutscenes; countless QoL tweaks that work across the board, not only in multiplayer; biggest ever package of new features for mapmakers that dropped just a week ago; thousands of man-hours sunk into creating graphic content that online players couldn't care less about; and, despite all that, you elect to call HotA a multiplayer mod.

Brainstorms. They have tons of ideas, they choosed only high quality features and these features that could be apploed without errors and breaking compatibility with older h3 maps.

Not that I second any of these even if a lot of my work on a map was screwed by the nerf of Intelligence and much more will be if Fangarms loss of endless retaliations isn't a bug but a developers decision.

Big nerfs only make the game less fun. Otherwise we revisit the original H7 logic where most early tier skills are balanced with each other because they all suck.

Well, even through the last patches affect pretty much every hero and town, the biggest nerfs actually happened over 5 years ago, when English Hota 1.3 was released. Conflux and necro were hit so hard, that even today they're still not sure what happened.

How people feel about the changes is very subjective. One would like to see nerfs, one would like to see buffs, someone can't stand any changes, and there are quite likely people who would like to see everything changed.

Also EE become weaker with Spell Research in Towns and Scholar gain advantage. For example your Main hero learn useless spells in mage guild, then your scout with scholar research spells in mage guild, and he rolled ressurection, town portal, prayer or meteor shower. with earth magic, he can teleport nearby to main hero and transfer all new spells.

Or you can simply use Poorman's Town Portal. As I already said somewhere in this site, Poorman's TP is quite easy when what you need to transfer is not army but spells.

With that logic, intelligence change would only make sense if all the tournament maps gave too much mana. Every, single, one.

Well, there are no maps in mp, only templates and on each and every one intelligence was just unreasonably powerful, on the verge of being broken. Its quite a usual thing to have level 20/25 main by the end of 2nd/ 3rd week and then he is a killing machine, two times more mana than normal intelligence hero and 4 times more than warrior. Contrary to what people think, slow and haste are not that powerful in pvp vattle, high damage spells usually rule there and having that much mana and some high level spells was just too good. The only thing you could do when facing high level elleshar was to just roam around and avoid him as much as possible with hope of catching him without mana one day.
If you meet him early on some fast paced template then the problem is even bigger; he will either have 80 mana vs yours ~40 and will obliterate all with lightning bolt or will have 0 mana because he had used it in creature bank and insteaf will greet you with a few angels which will annihilate you anyway.

@bloodsucker, yeah, i agree. Its better to say its made from tournament pov. Still, I think casual players dont mind the balance and changes all that much. For pro player some minor stat changing can be a gamechanger, but casual might not even notice it.

I really have to say that I love the way the improvement of Estates makes Lord Haart better then Leena. It was a waste of a specialty, cause you would need to level him up to level 14 just to earn the same she could sometimes (rarely) be giving you at level 3.

With a +350 hero you can hire him and just leave him in town without prejudice, while you need to level up an hero with Estates to get the most out of it. OTOH, if the +350 hero doesn't have any useless skills and most of them are quite good in that regard, is just another hero with no specialty. I mean what's the difference between using Dace and Damacon if you don't have any Dungeon? But an hero SS slot is precious and it was a waste to use it to earn 500g, specially if you also had to spend time and money to get it to expert.
I think I already said this to Phoenix4ever, somewhere.

Not true, that +350 gold is still relevant. I agree that it's better to have a hero that starts with estates than hero with gold speciality. However, only 3/10 towns have hero that starts with Estates, whereas 8/10 towns have hero with +350 gold.

Even if you're having a witch hut with Estates in your starting zone, why would you not want to have Estates on your +350 g hero? Gold specializing heroes are still among the best heroes to appear in tavern, especially when you're hiring heroes that have no army anyway.

So, the Eliksir of Life does no longer provide full regeneration, but only 50 health points? lol What a joke.
Is that an already old change and I was too inactive to notice, or a new?

It has always been like that, just recently tested this. So the claim at heroes.thelazy.net is incorrect, even Trolls regenerate only 50 hp max.

I just found a picture of the mech-unit on the maps4heroes site:
https://www.maps4heroes.com/heroes3/heroes3_horn_of_the_abyss_1_5.php

Since it has a Santa hat on its head I thought at first that it was a joke created by a fan but then I compared it to the one that can be seen in the "Wasteland Stroll" trailer and they seem to fit perfectly.

MathGuyHere said:
Upgraded "tank guy". Bottom left, near prison, at the edge of fog of war. Seconds 60-65 of "Wasteland stroll".

The only thing that seems strange to me is why the picture hasn't been released by the HotA team here or on their facebook page if it was officially created by them.

Cheers,
Fdgk

Edit: I am quite sure now that the rumour about the one-eyed shining mountain who spits out smoke like a volcano is about this unit. Did you notice the exhaust pipe on its back?

Wonder where does it fit.

Is the unit Neutral or is this Factories tier 7 unit (highly likely)?

I don't think that it is a neutral unit because we have already seen an upgraded and a non-upgraded version of it.
